France to Ban Islamic Abaya Dress in Schools

France to Ban Islamic Abaya Dress in Schools

In 2010, France banned full-face Muslim coverings such as ‘burka’ or ‘niqab’ from public spaces.

Two months after nationwide migrant riots, France is set to ban school girls from wearing abaya, the full length Islamic dress. “France’s education minister is seeking to ban the traditional over-garment on the grounds that it is an ostensibly religious symbol,” the French newspaper Le Monde reported Tuesday.

As France faces a surge in unregulated migration from the Middle East and Muslim-majority North Africa, the government in Paris appears to be worried at the prospect of Islam replacing the country’s long-standing secular tradition.

“Government spokesman Olivier Veran backed the move on Monday, saying abayas were ‘obviously’ a religious garment and ‘a political attack’ which he likened to an act of ‘proselytizing’ — trying to convert people to Islam,” state-owned France24 TV channel France24 reported.

The France-based TV channel Euronews reported the proposed ban:

French Education Minister announced that the traditional clothing known as abaya will be banned in schools in the name of secularism. Certain Muslim students wear this loose dress on top of other clothes.

Almost twenty years after the law restricting religious clothing and symbols in French schools was introduced, the debate is still not over.

“Abayas won’t be allowed anymore in schools”, France’s new education minister Gabriel Attal declared on Sunday.

The abaya is a long and loose traditional dress that covers the whole body and is worn in Maghreb and in the Gulf region. It isn’t directly associated with Islam as no text requires Muslim women to wear it.

“Standing together means being clear: the abaya has no place in our schools. Nor do other religious symbols”, said Attal.

In 2010, France banned full-face coverings worn by Muslim women in public spaces. Women risk a fine of  €150 for wearing Sharia-compliant garbs such as burka or niqab. “No one may, in a public space, wear any article of clothing intended to conceal the face,” the French law says.

Similar restrictions are also in place in other European nations. “Other countries in Europe have introduced legislation on Islamic dress. Denmark’s parliament enacted a ban on wearing of face veils in public in May. Belgium, the Netherlands, Bulgaria and the German state of Bavaria have also imposed some restrictions on full-face veils in public places,” Reuters reported in October 2018.

Though President Emmanuel Macron won’t face an election before 2027, his main rival, Marine Le Pen, is gaining in popularity among French voters. A poll in April showed that Le Pen would beat Macron 55 to 45 in a direct run-off. Le Pen’s policy of opposing mass-migration was vindicated after the recent migrant riots. Paris and other cities across France resembled war zones, as migrant mobs clashed with police, and set fire to cars and buildings.

The proposed ban on abaya could well be a political ploy by President Macron to appear tough in the face of the rapid Islamization of French society. “Politicians on the right and far right had pushed for an outright ban on abayas – with many in recent years arguing that the ban on wearing all religious symbols should be widened to universities and even parents accompanying children on school outings,” British newspaper The Guardian reported. “The far-right leader Marine Le Pen went further in her presidential campaign last year, proposing to ban all Muslim headscarves from public streets.”

Has the French government considered that inviting an unending surge of Islamic migrants into a country that is constantly subverting their religious and cultural values is a bad idea?

Of course not. Like most countries they won’t realize the true problem until the whole country is on fire and it’s a win or die scenario.

These Islamic migrants are more or less like locusts, destroying everything. Changing how they dress will not fix their nature. All western countries will either start expelling them or ultimately be dominated.

Now we find out just how on the same page these groups are.

Damn straight the French should ban Islamic garb. Not just the French, but all Western countries.

The Muslims in Islamic countries enforce modesty regulations with non-deputized pseudo-police gangs.

Long before the COVID masking regulations, I was screaming about Muslim females in the West wearing full face coverings. You cannot do that here.

If you want to shop, walk around in public, engage in public activities, you must show your face.

People with masks in public hiding their identity should be regarded with great suspicion.

If the Muslims cannot abide by this they should go back to the Umma.

If you voluntarily move to France, you should intend to become French. Learn to speak French, wear French clothes, eat French food, and assimilate as a Frenchman. You should not expect the French to accept your customs from the old country. You entered their country and accepted their hospitality, and you must accept their customs.

Yet libs preach the exact opposite of that simple, common sense statement–they act as if assimilation is racist. I keep telling them Austria-Hungary is not a good societal model.

Colonization is bad. Unless the colonizers are Muslims. Or anybody else trying to displace white Christians and Western European culture.

In Iran, women are willing to protest and go to prison and even die to object forced wearing of Hijab. While in France the same is happening, but they object the forced non-wearing of the Hijab. (current news reporting). They are all of the Muslim religion. A religion which has been so manipulated by the Holy leaders as to become a government instead of a faith. As was the Catholic church 18 centuries ago in it’s founding of ‘Papal States’. One faith evolved and one has not and more likely never will. If two centuries of Middle East Crusades were in vain plus everything which came after them, our mere 30 + years have not made and will not make an iota of our own version of the Crusades. Why should we believe there could be different out comes when we constantly read of the same dissension for all these past years and are still in current headlines. Let us apply the application of ‘History Repeats Itself’, and ‘Laws of Human’s Nature’. Those in France should consider returning to Iran with a fair trade one for one of those in Iran on the issue Hijab’s.

On our part, let Joe Biden be the Last Crusader to leave this area under the guise of ‘Freedom Fighter’ only to end up leaving it stronger for having been there and we poorer for the number our ‘Crusaders’ and ‘chariots’ left behind and the Iranian citizen-freedom fighters left worse off for having had us be there.

In my limited experience, women like to dress up and be pretty. There is nothing wrong with that. They like dresses, scarfs, make-up, whatever. I like that too. Let them dress up and be pretty!

Islam is about denying the human condition. Women like to dress up and be pretty. But their men forbid it. They deny their daughters from receiving a full education, they deny their women from enjoying full rights in court,

I like to date women, or I did when I was younger. Half the fun is being seen with a beautiful gal. “Look at this hot chick by my side!”

But Muslim men have some sort of irrational belief that their women must be covered up. Something about their ‘value’ being diminished if they are visible.

Anyone that believes this is anti-West and should be excluded from polite society.

Hey, guess what Muslim men? In the West, women are full members of society. They do not have ‘value’ like farm animals.

If Muslim men do not like it, they can go back to the Maghreb, cover their women, and throw acid in their face if their women refuse to comply, so long as they do not do it in the West. (I do not condone throwing acid in the faces of women).

I mostly agree. On the other hand women have been able to monetize their beauty for a long time. Today many women choose to monetize their sexuality. This monetization of beauty/sex appeal either directly by selling/posting photos/vids online or indirectly as the ‘cute’ female in the office smiling at someone to help advance a career definitely has a monetary value for those who choose these paths.

And men have not used their machismo to do the same?

CommoChief in reply to gonzotx. | August 30, 2023 at 9:39 am

          gonzotx,

This is at root a discussion of female modesty, the role played by religions in impacting the mores of their society and the differences among cultures in particular the Western democracies v Islamic States.

Your immediate jump to ‘But Men’ in an attempt to deflect and change the subject is transparent. This is a common tactic of lefty feminists which boils down to; no matter the subject blame men.

Tell you what, go pull the traffic count for only fans sites and let us know how many men v women there are selling sexualized content. Then tell us the gross revenue for men v women who post this sexualized content.

The French don’t get much right except wine and women but they got this right. Islam is a cancer to any Western culture because they are polar opposites. I remember in FL there was a woman convert to Islam who demanded that her driver’s license be taken with her hijab on! Of course, she lost the case but it took a while because of the liberal cry about her freedom of religion. Other than a few basic anti-liberal issues no Westerner agrees with any of the Islamic laws. They tell us up front that they will conquer us and we will be their inferiors and almost slaves. But because of a few loudmouth liberals and the msm we allow them to not only stay but bring many more into our country.

“on the grounds that it is an ostensibly religious symbol”
Crucifix necklaces and yarmulkes now on double-secret probation?

Should’ve done that before they let in millions of fifth columnists.

Well at least they reformed their absentee voting system, which is far more than we can say.

I wonder how many windmills it takes to electrocute Islam’s, 1,000 at a time.

Should the requirement be measured in Joules?

Meanwhile, NYC is allowing the adhan (call to prayer) over loudspeakers despite noise ordinances! Kowtowing!
