DePaul University Course Aims to Teach the Link Between Science and White Supremacy

“in the school’s African and black diaspora studies department”

Just a reminder that some students in this country are being taught absolute lunacy.

The College Fix reports:

‘Black girl magic’ and science’s link to ‘white supremacy’ focus of DePaul black studies courses

DePaul University students can learn about “black girl magic” and the connection between “science” and “white supremacy,” in the school’s African and black diaspora studies department.

Students this upcoming semester can also enroll in “Race and Racism” and learn about “the origin of race as an intellectual and scientific project designed to organize humanity into discrete and hierarchical groups, and the implications of racial thinking.”

These implications can include “racial discrimination perpetuated by rhetorical and pictorial stereotypes, discriminatory behavior and institutional practices,” according to the department’s course description.

“We will utilize racial formation theory which links race and racism by showing the dynamic connections between stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination and privilege,” the latest course description for the upcoming course states.

The topic of “black girl magic” is taught in at least one regular course called “Black Women Experiences,” most recently offered in the winter semester.

“We will explore varying topics from black girl magic to black women’s pain and trauma,” the description states. “To do this work, we will critically examine representations of blackness in popular culture, social media, literature and fine art.”

Students will also “think through black women and girls’ experiences [within] reproductive justice movements, queer communities, and beauty culture” and “question how black women and femmes survive in cultures that seek to erase them, exploit their labor and silence their voices.”

By declaring that science is related to/dependent on “white supremacy,” what message are they really sending?

Food for thought.

My impression is that their rhetoric has gradually become more taunting. They so, so, soooo yearnnn for just one human being somewhere anywhere on the planet in 2023 to touch that forbidden third rail. To touch it ever so gently. Listen to Al Charlatan lately?

The message they’re sending is not an accident.

It’s an ambush that they’re setting.

I rather think that the ambush when it comes won’t work out how they expect and they will end up being taught the true meaning of “White Supremacy”.
      And they won’t like it.

Hope the professor develops a painful condition and is forced to rely on “black girl magic” to alleviate it. (Blue Nads don’t count.)

I thought the AP Stylebook says “White Supremacy” should be capitalized.

Will their curriculum include “any” rap music? As a scientist I am compelled to find at least 5 equally likely explanations for the phenomena that I am studying and to eliminate them as a possibility through rigorous testing. I’m thinking that endless songs about bitches a ho’s might have an effect on someone’s perception of themselves.

Instead of all this complaining and activism, why don’t they do some of that “black girl magic” to provide for themselves? If you’ve got the magic, you don’t need for me to give you stuff!

‘…the origin of race as an intellectual and scientific project designed to organize humanity into discrete and hierarchical groups…’

Idiots. Nobody is THAT stupid, right? ‘Race’ resulted from some conspiracy by scientists and intellectuals? Beam me up, Scotty.

The concept of race has a couple of sources. One is simple tribalism – those people are different and foreign. That is a very normal human thing.
However, there were also those who categorized the races “scientifically” and used a lot of science to (as mentioned) put those races in a hierarchy. A lot of this happened in the 18th and 19th centuries. You can see it in writings like Tarzan. And some of it was used to justify slavery and other discriminatory practices. Heck, you can see it being argued that way by commenters on some conservative blogs.

The problem, of course, is that if you talk about it as if the second part is all there is to it,

To clarify: there are differences between people based on their race. Those differences should be inconsequential to us as a Christian society (there is one race – human), but of interest to scientists (looking for risk factors for genetic illnesses, for example). Progressives don’t want to make the proper distinction, and instead invert it.

The problem, of course, is that if you talk about it as if the second part is all there is to it, you perpetuate the racism.

(Yeesh. I even re-read everything before hitting Submit.)

The different races exist because of genetics and natural selection and would exist with or without categorizing by white or any other kind of people. Not because of an ‘intellectual’ conspiracy. Were there races and did people notice others were different even before Western Civilization came along and invented science to explain and pigeonhole stuff? I would have to presume so.

So much for “Follow the Science.”

I stopped contributing to DePaul when the university hired Carol Moseley Braun (payroll padder) to teach legal ethics. A business Dean told me alumni donations dropped 60% that year. Since then DePaul has done even more to underscore the wisdom of depriving it of my money.

Science is connected to what they call “white supremacy”, though.
Science (as an entire philosophy, way of thinking) only came about because of European Christian thought. While there was plenty of alchemy going on in the world, for example, chemistry came about because of Western Civilization.

If you assume (wrongly) that Western Civilization equals colonization (and that colonization equals nothing more than absolute rule by whites), then they’re right. The problem is their premises are broken.

what a waste of time and money some of those called universities have become.

How did science become racist? nearly all modern convivence’s come from science to include the toilet.
All non whites need to stop using all technology for purity of their race. Look no further than the feces cover sidewalks of San Francisco or Paris to see how this works out.
Ok…… I’m sorry. Back to the narrative now. “Bad whitey, bad, bad whitey”.
