Trump Says He’s a Target of Jan. 6 Grand Jury, Expects Imminent Arrest and Indictment

Trump Says He’s a Target of Jan. 6 Grand Jury, Expects Imminent Arrest and Indictment

“…giving me a very short 4 days to report to the Grand Jury, which almost always means an Arrest and Indictment.”

President Donald Trumped announced on Truth Social that he is a target of the January 6 Grand Jury:

WOW! On Sunday night, while I was with my family, having just arrived from the Turning Point event in Florida, where I won the Straw Poll against all other Republican candidates with 85.7%, with all polls showing me leading in the Republican Primary by very substantial numbers, almost everyone predicting that I will be the Republican Nominee for President, and as I am leading Democrat Joe Biden in the polls by a lot, HORRIFYING NEWS for our Country was given to me by my attorneys.

Deranged Jack Smith, the prosecutor with Joe Biden’s DOJ, sent a letter (again, it was Sunday night!) stating that I am a TARGET of the January 6th Grand Jury investigation, and giving me a very short 4 days to report to the Grand Jury, which almost always means an Arrest and Indictment.

So this would be the third time authorities arrested Trump. The first happened in New York over supposed hush money payments to Stormy Daniels. The second happened in Miami over the classified documents.

Authorities are investigating Trump in Georgia for supposedly trying to reverse Biden’s victory in the state.

You know, as much as I don’t like Trump, none of this [Trump’s supposed crimes] bothers me as long as Eric Holder and his ilk are still running free along with the warmongers. Cannot take the DOJ seriously at all. Or the FBI. Or anyone in the government.

The Democratic party proving Benjamin Franklins adage. Insanity is doing the same thing again and again, and expecting different results.

Will he be jailed before trial as with all other J6 defendants?

    NavyMustang in reply to The_Mew_Cat. | July 18, 2023 at 11:14 am

I want to know what happens to his SS detail if he’s jailed.

Danny in reply to NavyMustang. | July 18, 2023 at 4:03 pm

It would be revoked if he is sentenced to prison.

What is your source for your statement? Under 18 U.S. Code § 3056, he gets protection for life:

        (3) Former Presidents and their spouses for their lifetimes, except that protection of a spouse shall terminate in the event of remarriage.

Any exception would be noted here.

    MattMusson in reply to The_Mew_Cat. | July 18, 2023 at 3:34 pm

Notice this is a state charge and not a federal charge. So, Trump won’t be able to pardon himself when he is elected President.

I’ve been saying this for almost 2 years, now: The deep sewer will assassinate Trump before it will ever let him back into the oval office. However, that option has such bad optics, the perpetual persecution prosecutions will continue until key states refuse to put him on the ballot in 2024.

Net result: no oval office for Trump. It’s a win/win for deep sewer.

    chrisboltssr in reply to LB1901. | July 18, 2023 at 12:28 pm

They already wasted the assassination card on JFK and (possibly) MLK so they will not be able to play that card again.

If Trump dies of any other case other than natural there will be hell in this country. I don’t think the alphabet agencies would be that stupid. Then again, they have been doing stupid things lately.

They don’t care. The only result that matters to these people is them winning. How they achieve that is neither here nor there to them.

    MarkS in reply to LB1901. | July 18, 2023 at 12:54 pm

the question is why is the sewer so terrified of Trump?

Dathurtz in reply to MarkS. | July 18, 2023 at 12:58 pm

They realized that if he had wanted Jan 6 to be a real insurrection, then it would have been.

CommoChief in reply to Dathurtz. | July 18, 2023 at 6:03 pm

The reactions from the establishment politicians and the DC/NYC chattering class was one of terror. Lindsey Graham was flitting around demanding to know why capital police weren’t shooting the the protesters as an example.

They all realized in that moment how tenuous their grip on power actually is. I suspect many of them were picturing their own version of Nicolae Ceausescu’s end as the events unfolded that day. They became aware that they feared the population v simply despising them and folks hold a grudge for those who made them confront their cowardice.

They don’t fear Trump so much as everyday folks but he is a very convenient target since they can’t put the rest of into a gulag, apart from the poor deluded J6 protesters who went inside the capital thinking it was a good idea or would make any difference in the certification/count of electoral college ballots.

That is why they are pushing DeSantis, there is a huge difference in competency of politicians than those in business, also in mentality.

One of the things which really irritated me in the beltway was their insistence that who you knew was most important. There is the matter of what thy can and should do. The beltway is loaded with grifters.

For a few brief years, Trump successfully derailed the globalists WEF game plan to crush the middle class, and turn the USA into Venezuela.

JoeBama righted that train back onto the rails, and full speed ahead crushing the middle class!

Voyager in reply to MarkS. | July 18, 2023 at 3:32 pm

They believe that he created and controls the MAGA movement. And they think if they get rid of him all of that will go away.

        JohnSmith100 in reply to Voyager. | July 18, 2023 at 5:55 pm

It won’t end, that is DeSantis thinks he can step in, he will lose the election and then Republicans may find a new MAGA party, leaving just RINOs and eRepublicans in the existing party.

There is a genuine concern that the special counsel is pursuing a case that could be challenged on constitutional grounds. If Smith’s case against Trump is solely based on Trump’s speech on January 6, it seems unlikely to hold up under judicial scrutiny.

The key question is whether or not Smith has additional evidence that directly links Trump to a conspiracy or plans to incite violence.

Thus far, such evidence has not been presented by the January 6th congressional committee or any other legislative body.

It should be noted that Jack Smith has a history of stretching the limits of criminal law, but this is not a situation where such tactics are appropriate. If Smith intends to indict the former president for his actions on January 6th, he will need substantial evidence to prove that Trump did more than engage in political speech. Legally, Trump’s speech is protected under the First Amendment and a legal precedent under Brandenburg and the First Amendment.

It is logical to assume that Jack Smith would need more evidence than just Trump’s speech to obtain a conviction in court. The key question is whether someone close to Trump has given in to the pressure from the Special Counsel’s office and turned against him to avoid facing charges themselves.

Danny in reply to MarkS. | July 18, 2023 at 4:05 pm

You really think they don’t know doing this creates a rally to the leader impact? They have only been writing article after article about it, see article after article written about it on the right, and see the results……..

You think they didn’t like winning the house in 2018 in a blue wave, the white house, and senate in 2020, and having the best in party performance in a mid term election since 2002?

    MattMusson in reply to LB1901. | July 18, 2023 at 3:37 pm

Expect New York and California to leave him off the ballot. It won’t impact the election because he was never going to win there anyway. But, it will have a Profound impact on down ballot races.

CommoChief in reply to MattMusson. | July 18, 2023 at 6:16 pm

You don’t think folks will show up and submit a write in ballot for Trump and vote against the d/prog if not precisely FOR the down ballot GoP candidates? That would seem to suggest that Only Trump voters will only vote for Trump if its easy to do which I don’t believe is the case.

Personally I think leaving him off the ballot may provoke a severe backlash among not just regular voters but among infrequent voters to go vote for Trump on a write in ballot. Turning him into a political martyr may just bite them in the ass.

This is the most sickening and obvious abuse of power I have ever witnessed in my lifetime. Everyone should voice opposition to this, not just Trump supporters. I hope I would react the same if this happened to a democrat.

E Howard Hunt | July 18, 2023 at 11:21 am

Trump needs to do some planning fast if he’s to have any cred in the yard. He should reach out to the Aryan brotherhood and get its gang tats before they throw him in the jug. After his boys effect a few beatdowns on his behalf, he should be able to do a dime standing on his head. My Donald can still be prez even if he’s cooling his heels in stir.

What better way to divert from their own malfeasance than to engage in further malfesance and in the process complete America’s transformation into un-America?

Would not be surprised to see WW3 commence in order for these criminals to keep their power.

The vile Dumb-o-crats want their headline photo of President Trump in handcuffs, doing a “perp walk.” These lawless, vindictive and despicable totalitarians have been seeking this show trial result since then-candidate Trump entered the race for GOP nominee for President in 2015.

Meanwhile, actual criminal and manifestly corrupt crime boss, dotard-marionette, Biden, skates free, as per current federal law enforcement standards which immunize prominent Dumb-o-crats from prosecution for their brazen corruption and foreign influence-peddling racketeering schemes.

Maybe DJT should get the attorneys that got Hunter his sweet plea deal from the DOJ.

Did I get that right? This political persecution and mis application of the law is OK because you do not like the victim of the persecution. Please tell me I misunderstood

Dathurtz in reply to MarkS. | July 18, 2023 at 1:01 pm

You misunderstand. Read that line as “None of the stuff Trump is alleged to have done bothers me as long as much more serious and repetitive illegalities from the opposite political side is treated as lightly as it is.”

This is the indictment that was coming, whether they pulled the string on the Espionage Act charges or not.

      They didn’t even wait long.

Mary,

You need to clarify this statement:

“You know, as much as I don’t like Trump, none of this bothers me as long as Eric Holder and his ilk are still running free along with the warmongers.”

The way it is written it comes across that you think what the DOJ is doing is ok….

chrisboltssr in reply to starride. | July 18, 2023 at 1:12 pm

Agreed. I had to read twice and then one more time slowly to ensure I was understanding what it was she was saying.

Olinser in reply to starride. | July 18, 2023 at 2:01 pm

    Let me clarify.

‘Oh yeah Trump is a horrible person and a criminal, but there’s Democrats that are worse’.

More hot takes from the Never Trump morons that somehow think that anybody other than Trump would just be left alone by the DoJ.

Heck a bunch of Democrats are already screaming that DeSantis is guilty of ‘kidnapping’! Or that they should arrest Clarence Thomas!

The ONLY reason they are pushing these nonsense charges is because they want to take Trump off the ballot.

Dathurtz in reply to Olinser. | July 18, 2023 at 2:50 pm

I believe you’ve distilled it to its essence.

chrisboltssr in reply to Olinser. | July 18, 2023 at 4:36 pm

Exactly I keep telling the NeverTrumpers and the somewhat Trumpers that the problem is them as conservatives, not that Trump was president. In fact, it was Trump who said, “They (the elites) are after you. I am just in the way.”

It really blows my mind the NeverTrumpers and SomewhatTrumpers really think Trump is criminal even though they know a lot of the evil that the Leftists engaged in against Trump was trumped up.

gonzotx in reply to starride. | July 18, 2023 at 2:06 pm

Of course none of this bothers the antiTrumpers…

Untrue. I don’t support Trump in the primary, and I find this deeply problematic and clearly politically motivated (just like ALL the J6 arrests that didn’t have to do with actual violence). It’s unAmerican and unacceptable. And yes, it makes me much more comfortable voting for Trump if he wins the nomination.

CommoChief in reply to gonzotx. | July 18, 2023 at 6:26 pm

So y’all are down to ‘with us or against us’ as your argument to persuade those not under Trump’s spell at present?

There’s plenty of distance between ‘not quite ready to pick a candidate in the GoP primary’ and being a NEVER Trump douche.

Consider extending some grace to those who haven’t made their minds up yet. You never know, y’all may need the same grace extended to you for perceived political sins past, present or future.

For example, many folks who climbed onto the ’16 Trump train hadn’t been very reliable voters previously or had been prior d/prog voters. Both of which aided our common political opposition over the years in gaining the power to wreck the Nation.

It’s not a clear statement. I think I get it, but it would be better put that she heartily disagrees with a rank political indictment spawned by the evil swamp dwellers like Holder the wing man.

It’s not really interesting unless he’s jailed pre-trial as a danger to the country. Otherwise it’s just more of the same that’s going on already.

They’re going to ‘convict’ him, then remove him from teh ballot.

And the GOPe will go along with it because ‘NOBODY IS ABOVE THE LAW’ and ‘THAT’S NOT WHO WE ARE’.

It’s actually pathetic how transparent they are.

thalesofmiletus in reply to Olinser. | July 18, 2023 at 3:07 pm

So the GOP can lose with “””dignity””” per usual.

      irishgladiator63 in reply to Olinser. | July 18, 2023 at 3:34 pm

It would be incredibly foolish for them to do that. Because once there’s a precedent, then the California AG indicts Desantis for kidnapping. Then the next candidate for something equally ridiculous. Then the next. And the next.
It doesn’t even matter if the charges are credible or not.
Of course, republicans are incredibly foolish. So they probably will.

CommoChief in reply to Olinser. | July 19, 2023 at 10:55 am

Keep in mind that the ‘they’ you refer to also includes a Trump appointed Judge with a jury pool drawn from the registered voters in a Red County in a Red State.

That’s as much of a favorable situation for a trial as Trump could conceivably ask for.

The dems think that the country will be saved by feelings. The founders thought it would be saved by structural stability, especially against feelings.

Olinser in reply to rhhardin. | July 18, 2023 at 3:30 pm

They don’t think anything of the sort.

They think that they can simply seize control, and there are enough stupid people who are ruled by their ‘feelings’ that will go along with it.

‘Saving’ the country is just the BS crap they shovel to the rubes.

They are trying to tie up Trump as much as they can. They also are going after people that are working for the GOP of swing states. It all designed to kill the MAGA/GOP and Trump from getting into office.

Saw that the Michigan AG has charged or soon will charge what she calls fake electors with multiple felonies.

She had encouraged the Feds to bring charges but so far they have declined. Perhaps there was a chance the case would have been tried by a judge who is not a fully “Made member of the gang”..

oops, did not mean to downvote. She is a POS.

I thought the law *permitted* the selection of alternate electors in the event an election is challenged, so as to avoid the probable “Oh, the election is invalid, but you don’t have time to select and swear your alternates in the next twelve hours so too bad, so sad.” (Because if the Dems allowed the election to be invalidated, their next obvious step is to wait so long alternate electors could not do their jobs and throw every obstacle in their way.)
