Political Scientist Suggests Higher Ed Can Win Back Public Trust by Dismantling DEI Policies

“The DEI machines must be dismantled, and litmus and loyalty tests must immediately end”

He is probably right, but what school is going to follow his advice? They’re way too invested in this.

The College Fix reports:

Dismantle ‘DEI machines’: political scientist on how to win back trust in higher ed

To restore Americans’ low confidence in higher education, colleges should dismantle the diversity, equity and inclusion bureaucracies and showcase their potential to transform students’ lives, one contrarian political scientist argued in the wake of a poll that found the nation’s confidence in higher ed has plummeted.

“The DEI machines must be dismantled, and litmus and loyalty tests must immediately end,” Samuel Abrams, a political scientist at Sarah Lawrence College, told The College Fix in an email.

Colleges “need to demonstrate why investing in a degree is worthwhile and how they truly transform and help students achieve particular goals,” said Abrams, a fellow with the conservative American Enterprise Institute.

According to the latest Gallup poll results, published earlier this month, just 36 percent of the sample of Americans polled this year said they have a “great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in higher education.

The results are based on random-sample telephone interviews conducted June 1 through June 22 of about 1,000 adults across America. In 2015, 57 percent of Americans said they had confidence in higher education; in 2018, 48 percent said they did, previous surveys found.

The latest results represent a 21-percentage point drop in confidence in higher education over the last eight years.

“This is the second consecutive year of record lows,” Gallup education researcher Zach Hrynowski told The College Fix via email, adding no gains have been made in institutional trust since the early 2000s.

This would be an important move but is not nearly enough. The ideological indoctrination has to be removed from the classroom as well. As long as professors teach students to be good and violent little marxists, education will be corrupt.

Not sure what’s above the Accreditation Board, but that’s what affects Universities.
The Board says they need to Publish or Perish.
Quality teaching is not the priority. %PHD , %demographics are more important.
Does a PHD in English really need a sabbatical the way a PHD in Experimental Particle Physics does?
Every Gender Studies PHD has to be MORE outrageous in their article or it won’t get published.
How big a Grant do you think a Climate PHD would get if he said Anthropomorphic causes only effect the Climate model by .002% ?

Got to Publish or I Perish because the Accreditation Board said so.

I wonder if the declining number of men going to college has anything to do with having to be told, term in and term out, that their toxic masculinity is the biggest problem in the world.
Likewise, I wonder how much of the general decline in college admissions is in part due to people of pallor having to, from the moment of freshman (may I say that?) orientation, participate in struggle sessions wherein they must confess their privilege as oppressors and their consequent duty to repent for being born.

As Johnny Cochran used to say about college

“If it ain’t STEM, you shouldn’t have anything to do with them.”

As Gloria Steinem wished she used to say, “A woman needs a nonSTEM degree like a watermelon needs a motorcycle.”

Sarah Lawrence?!
The desperation must be dripping.

Why would these places care about public trust? Americans seem largely unwilling or unable to accept the reality of what has happened to the American so-called higher education system — and , much like sheep, or automatons, they just go on enrolling at these places.

Imho it’s really quite remarkable.
