McConnell Claims He’s ‘Fine’ After Freezing and Appearing Unwell at Press Conference

He came back and finished the press conference instead of, you know, going to the hospital or resting.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told reporters he is “fine” after he froze mid-sentence during his weekly press conference with GOP leadership:

McConnell, a Kentucky Republican, stopped speaking in the middle of remarks at his regularly scheduled weekly news conference on Capitol Hill. After a 30-second pause, his colleagues crowded around to see if he was OK and asked him how he felt. GOP Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming was seen gripping McConnell’s arm and whispered to him, “Hey Mitch, anything else you want to say? Or should we just go back to your office? Do you want to say anything else to the press?”

He said nothing, and was led away from the press conference and towards his office by an aide. He returned to the news conference a few minutes later.

McConnell, asked by CNN what happened and if it is related to his fall earlier this year, said “No, I’m fine,” and then moved on to other reporters.

A McConnell aide said that the senator “felt light headed and stepped away for a moment.”

“He came back to handle Q and A, which as everyone observed was sharp,” the aide said.

An ever increasing number of legislators qualify as retarded, not just the insult, rather as originally defined, IQ 70 and under.

Oh for heaven’s sake, retire already you grifting twat.

    Kevin Munger
Generation Gap: Why the Baby Boomers Still Dominate American Politics and Culture

The Baby Boomers are the largest and most powerful generation in American history―and they aren’t going away any time soon. They are, on average, whiter, wealthier, and more conservative than younger generations. They dominate cultural and political institutions and make up the largest slice of the electorate. Generational conflict, with Millennials and Generation Z pitted against the aging Boomer cohort, has become a media staple. Older and younger voters are increasingly at odds: Republicans as a whole skew gray-haired, and within the Democratic Party, the left-leaning youth vote propels primary challengers. The generation gap is widening into a political fault line.

Kevin Munger marshals novel data and survey evidence to argue that generational conflict will define the politics of the next decade. He examines the historical trends that made the Baby Boomers so consequential and traces the emergence of age-based political and cultural divisions. Boomers continue to prefer the media culture of their youth, but Millennials and Gen Z are using the internet to render legacy institutions irrelevant. These divergent media habits have led more people than ever to identify with their generation. Munger shows that a common “cohort consciousness” binds aging Boomer voters into a bloc―but a shared identity and purpose among Millennials and Gen Z could topple Boomer power.

Bringing together expertise in data analysis and digital culture with keen insight into contemporary politics, Generation Gap explains why the Baby Boomers remain so dominant and how quickly that might change.

      Three observations.

      1. This sounds entirely accurate. Why? B/C Gen X wasn’t mentioned which is par for the course. Once again Gen X is overlooked and dismissed as irrelevant. Sometimes intentionally, sometimes unintentional either way it nearly always happens.

      2. Boomers are out of touch with how much they are reviled by Millennials and Gen Z. These two generations view anyone and everything as individually ‘disposable’. Coupled with their hatred of Boomers for ‘destroying the planet’ gonna be ugly.

      3. B/C the Boomers failed to allow any proactive changes to Social Security when the changes would be less painful and now very big/destructive changes are gonna be required the Boomers on Social Security are likely to be hit hard alongside the rest of us. The Millennials and Gen Z will enthusiastically push their ass out onto an ice flow like an Inuit tribe facing a a series bad seal hunts; sort of generational twist on ‘eff them kids’.

Worse than grifting. His actions are treasonous.

Parasites like McConnell dropping dead on tv is a gift to future generations.

    When is Pelosi’s, Clinton’s and Biden’s turns?

Hmmm, just when the UFO hearing are on.

It’s time to seriously consider the age and health of candidates running for office in a more formal way.. Unpopular opinion but perhaps a maximum age should be put in place to mitigate folks staying past their prime. Obviously each person displays the signs of their physical and mental decline differently and in varying degrees but everyone is impacted. Maybe a standard assessment of physical and mental ability to preclude someone like Fetterman as well as our more geriatric leaders would be better than an age cut off?

Olinser in reply to CommoChief. | July 26, 2023 at 6:24 pm

In a perfect world that would be great, but I will NEVER agree to any ‘standard assessment’ of mental ability.

    Why?

Because I know exactly what would happen. The so-called ‘non-partisan’ assessors would declare any threatening Republican ‘mentally unfit’ while simultaneously saying that basket cases like Fetterman, Feinstein or Biden are absolutely 100% able to do their jobs. After all, their jobs are just to show up and vote Democrat.

They had that idiot Bandi X Lee on literally HUNDREDS of times on the news screaming that Trump was ‘mentally unfit’ and needed to be removed under the 25th amendment.

An actual objective standard would be good, but just like everything else, the Democrats would corrupt it to serve their own purposes and the RINOs would do nothing to stop them.

CommoChief in reply to Olinser. | July 26, 2023 at 7:07 pm

The assessments I would propose are much less subjective. Not subjective at all in truth. Physical test would be Push ups /sit ups/ 2 mile run, the standard Army physical fitness test. A candidate performs or they don’t.

The same sort of basic objective testing for acuity as TBI screening could be used; for example one I recall from my own screening. Guy says the name of seven fruits then asks me to repeat it to him…but in reverse order. Then shapes and numbers and so on. All objective performance testing. The candidate either can or can’t do what is asked.

Video both tests and release to public for the public to decide themselves. We don’t have to rely upon ideologues running the test to be fair if we structure the test as objective v subjective.

The Laird of Hilltucky in reply to CommoChief. | July 27, 2023 at 8:20 pm

I agree with Olinser. It is naive to think that Dem/prog/marxist/lefties would not corrupt whatever tests were used. With AI and CGI, nothing would be believable. “If we structure the test”, The “we” who control the test win!

So is this what the Roman Citizenry experienced at the end of their empire?

We are running on vapors on everything.

Mitch won’t retire, he has a special place in hell waiting for him, like all the traitors, and it’s for eternity

Maybe he got a flash of it, a little tip of the spear so to speak…

“Cocaine Mitch” has outlived his usefulness to conservatives. Just another tottering and feeble dotard and career politician who should have been put out to pasture a long time ago.

Someone rolled him onto his back so he was helpless.

Havana syndrome

From the look on his face, I’d guess that somebody put too much trust in a fart.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | July 26, 2023 at 5:09 pm

He came back and finished the press conference instead of, you know, going to the hospital or resting.

Or resigning his “leadership” position, where he works to help out Traitor Joe with every last working neuron he’s got.

McConnell needs to step down. Resigning his seat is probably the right thing to do, also. I’ll be glad when he’s out of the Senate.

As long as you’re good with the appointment of a Democrat replacement. It would take a lot of power out of Manchin’s hands going into reelection season. Of course, it would also mean more horrible legislation, but hey, who pays any attention to that?

      Olinser in reply to txvet2. | July 26, 2023 at 6:19 pm

      Nice try, jackass.

      1) The Kentucky state legislature has already passed a law that the governor can only appoint a replacement approved by the legislature, which is Republican

      2) The Senate is already owned by the Democrats, but the House is Republican. Not a single meaningful bill has been ‘blocked’ by Manchin with the current makeup, and won’t be. If it passed the House, it will be passed by the Senate, helped along by the usual crew of RINOs

      3) Having a majority ‘leader’ this weak, pathetic, and so obviously unable to do the job is an albatross around the neck of any conservatives trying to flip Senate seats in the upcoming election.

In short, there is ZERO political benefit to conservatives to keeping this moron in office, and plenty of benefit for getting rid of him.

Whe needs McConnell? Any – ANY – GOP Senator would be better than this China-compromised bastard.

You would think that for something like this, McConnel would be rushed to the hospital and undergo all kinds of tests until they found out what was wrong. It should be the doctor, not the patient who declares whether he’s fine or not.

For any of the MDs on this site, did that resemble a TIA to you?

MajorWood in reply to Telemachus. | July 27, 2023 at 1:10 am

My 20 sec preliminary diagnosis would be most likely an “absence seizure” based on his fixed gaze and absence of other indicators. But odd for it to be a first time for that at his age, unless he’s got something new growing in the wrong place. Next would be a transient hypotension event, either bradycardia or postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). Laying down for a few minutes would temporarily restore him to “like new” condition. Having experienced those, I can relate to his dazed and confused look. Rounding out the trifecta would be a TIA (transient ischemic attack) but as there were no motor effects and recovery was minutes vs hours (with no treatment intervention) I’d give it less than 5%. So for betting purposes, I will split roughly 50/50 between the first two. Symptoms favor #1, but recovery time favors #2. FWIW, $80-150 for a Kardiamobile device is a good investment for older folks.

I like the suggestion of a cargo fart, but I doubt he would have been brought out again were that the case. And no Nadler shuffle either.

I’m not an MD, just an avid consumer of classic media.
I imagine that when they got him back to his office, young Dorothy ran up to him with her cute little pump oil can, and…
Which is ironic, because McConnell is OG Cowardly Lion, all the way.

SeymourButz | July 26, 2023 at 5:31 pm

John Fetterman was the proof that it’s not even an issue of age. We have communities that will actively elect new, fresh, brain-damaged people to serve as a warm body and a vote as long as it’s for the right team.

I don’t think our Founding Fathers ever envisioned members of Congress being married to people from adversarial nations. Or the globe virtually shrinking, dramatically, in the last 100 or so years, and the population quadrupling in just our lifetimes. And throw in instantaneous global AV communications.

A Senator with a Chinese wife (and her Chinese family and their positions within the CCP [isn’t everyone in China a de facto member of the CCP?]) is highly suspect in terms of his true allegiance and his potential for outside influence. And that’s just Cocaine Mitch. I’m sure there are other examples as well.

We don’t need just an IQ and other cognitive tests. We need constant background checks run by a truly non-partisan pro-American agency.

The Globalists must go. Same with the criminals, inside traders, mentally disabled, and on and on. We also need term limits. We need term limits. We need term limits NOW. And cognitive tests and lie detectors that shock the bastards. Okay, maybe not the lie detector that shock because the power bill will be through the roof.

With the season and the heat, I’d lay even odds on dehydration and a touch of heatstroke. It wouldn’t shock me to add Covid to that list. I’m speaking with the voice of experience on this, because I hit the trifecta earlier this year. It’s no fun, but rest and care fixed me up in a few days. (and lots of water)

henrybowman in reply to georgfelis. | July 27, 2023 at 2:03 am

I must admit, I had a touch of the heat stroke myself today, simultaneously with the electrician I was assisting. Same for my wife, just prior to us, hauling the trash cans down to the street and back with her ATV. The minute I felt the dizzies and the disorientation, I popped myself into an air-conditioned room with a nice fan, and he did the same.

CommoChief in reply to henrybowman. | July 27, 2023 at 11:46 am

Yeah. Had to be really disciplined about rest periods myself down in Bama. Not as bad this week b/c humidity is low. Last week was a heat index of 114 which is ‘Africa hot’.

Perhaps McConnell crapped in his pants as he was speaking.

Well…. wouldn’t YOU react just like him?
