The internal polling and focus groups must have been brutal. So “Grandpa” Joe tossed Hunter’s daughter Navy a verbal bone during an interview with People magazine. Just a bone, mentioning her name, nothing more.
Joe Biden wouldn’t even acknowledge the existence of his granddaughter Navy, via Hunter, for years. Not even after he repeatedly was criticized for such a cold-hearted and cruel attitude.
But we’re entering an election year, his popularity is low, and the internal polling and focus groups must have been brutal. The false narrative of loving Grandpa Joe, concocted for the 2020 election, couldn’t last when he ignored the existence of a poltically inconvenient grandaughter. A granddaughter not even allowed to use the Biden name.
So ‘Grandpa’ Joe finally tossed Navy a verbal bone during an interview with People magazine. He mentioned her name.

President Joe Biden on Friday publicly acknowledged his seventh grandchild for the first time, while adding that his granddaughter Navy is “not a political issue.”
In a statement first reported by People that was obtained by NBC News, Biden said that he and first lady Jill Biden wanted the best for all of their grandchildren, “including Navy.”
“Our son Hunter and Navy’s mother, Lunden, are working together to foster a relationship that is in the best interests of their daughter, preserving her privacy as much as possible going forward,” the president said. “This is not a political issue, it’s a family matter. Jill and I only want what is best for all of our grandchildren, including Navy.”
First time he’s mentioned her. First time he’s acknowledged her. Just a bone, mentioning her name, nothing more.
And there was a convenient “source famililar with the situation” to shift the blame from Joe to Hunter for the People story:
A source familiar with the situation tells PEOPLE that the recently resolved child support dispute between Hunter and Lunden has dictated how the relationship has played out so far.
You could have given them space without denying the existence of your grandchild.
Very cold people. No matter how they portray themselves.
At least Joe acknowledges other people’s grandchildren.

I’ve never seen a photo of the mom nor The Granddaughter Who Shall Not Be Named before, but unless the lighting for that photo was weird it looks to me like that particular Biden offspring was… black?
That would explain the dearth of pics in news sources, whereas if this was a Trump offspring I have no doubt the editorials calling T a bigot would have been legendary.

The information came out because Hunter had Lunden on his consulting companies payroll so she’d be covered under his insurance. After she gave birth, he ghosted her and the kid and pretended he didn’t know her. Lunden filed a paternity suit about a year later and Hunter was forced to take a DNA test to prove he was the father. Hunter made this a public issue by refusing to uphold his responsibilities. Lunden didn’t run to the media, they found out when she filed her paternity suit. His failure to financially support his daughter made this public knowledge.
Is there some statute that forbids Navy from assuming her father’s name?
Not a law, but a lawyer.
Or at least a law firm.
Hunter’s legal team, rather than just take the money they were being paid to delay having to pay overdue child support to pay the overdue child support, made it a condition to stop their legal delays that navy’s mom had to not do so.
If the mom also had money or a rich dad, who didn’t care what it cost to battle over legal acknowledgment of parenthood, this would never fly. However, failing an honest judge with backbone to shoot down obvious delays of what will eventually happen, money talks. Navy’s mom didn’t want to wait additional years for her daughter to get the child support a normal non wealthy dad would have already been paying.
However, nothing stops the girl from changing her name however she wants once she’s 18.
That’s, what, 15 years in the future? Plenty of time for statutes of Limitations to run out and for The Big Guy to have died.
The only thing keeping the Biden family out of prison Right Now is their utter control of a corrupt justice department.
Given that, the current Dem playbook seems to be strategy from Jaunta, The Boardgame ™.
The way I understood the whole situation is that for Navy’s Mother to continue to receive child support payments from Hunter she had to agree that Navy would not be taking the Biden name.. Not sure what happens after the child support ends but until then she cannot take the Biden name.

Maureen Dowd’s NYT piece a few weeks ago flayed Biden, the loving family man, for ignoring Navy. It shattered the only untarnished image of devotion and consistency he had left: his dog Commander, famous on his own for his inclination to savage people, had a Christmas stocking hung, while Navy didn’t exist.

If either of my parents-in-law were as corrupt, dishonest and venal as Xiden, I would not want my children to be associated with them. Yes, it is cold-hearted for Xiden to ignore the child, but there is nothing out of character about that. And it is better for Navy to be known as a normal rather than a member of such a twisted family.
Either the polling was brutal or the old lecher saw a picture of her and decided he wanted to get access to her.
