Starbucks is Accused of Not Honoring Pride Decorations and Even Liberals are Rolling Their Eyes

Pride month feels a bit different this year. The celebrations and acknowledgments are everywhere and over the top, and the public seems to be pushing back in exhaustion.

Even Starbucks coffee, a well-known ally of the left, is being accused of not applauding hard enough.

From the New Republic:

Starbucks Denies Union Allegations of a Ban on Pride Decorations

Starbucks has banned Pride decorations in stores halfway through Pride Month, the company’s workers union claimed Tuesday. If true, it would be a stunning cave to far-right anti-LGBTQ fury—but the coffee chain denies that any such policy is in place.

There has been a wave of ultra-conservative pushback against companies that express support for equal rights. It started when Bud Light did a campaign with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney in March, but things really kicked off when Target displayed its Pride swimwear collection. Target said it would pull back its Pride merchandise in response to the outcry.

“For the last two weeks, Starbucks workers have taken to social media to report that the company is no longer allowing Pride decorations in-store,” the Starbucks workers’ union tweeted.

But Starbucks spokesperson Andrew Trull said there has been no change to corporate policy regarding displays for Pride or any other heritage month. “We unwaveringly support the LGBTQIA2+ community,” he said in a statement.

The funniest thing about this story is the reaction it’s getting on Twitter. Take a look:

Maybe pride doesn’t need a whole month anymore.

People seem sort of over it.

I think our country could do with a “wrath month” or two.

Starbucks’s marketing is brilliant: Provide an irresistible atmosphere for preening metrosexuals, and burn the coffee so badly that tons of expensive creams and syrups must be added to make it drinkable.

And, what has that to do with the discussion at hand?

E Howard Hunt in reply to The Gentle Grizzly. | June 14, 2023 at 8:27 am

Everything. It’s all about marketing. It is ridiculous to think Starbucks caved to right wing groups. Starbucks equipped all of its stores with a modicum of professional Pride posters. However, the average barista, whom statistics show is 7,221 times more likely to be gay than the average fast food worker, felt this provision inadequate. Regional stores used their limited autonomy to stop the madness when theses flamboyant, light-loafer baristas so inundated their stores with Pride decorations, that they started to look like gay bordellos.

Maybe they just “caved” to common sense rather than the dreaded “right wing,” although the two are becoming synonymous nowadays.

I just find the “pride” paraphernalia repellant, causing me to actively avoid stores that plater their walls with them.

Too bad we can’t get the same to happen in schools…

Sorry to upset you during your special month

Statistics show you’re a cringeworthy idiot.

Wait a minute! Do you mean that stand-alone Starbucks stores ARE NOT gay bordello’s??!!?? The stand-alone qualifier is because they are in a lot of grocery and department stores. Included in that is a grocery store in my small mountain town, and I have not seen the slightest indication of “pride month” signage.

Funny how hard they’re trying to brand NORMAL as “ultra-conservative”/”far right.”

On the other hand, such reasoning would be tacit agreement that the “far left”/”ultra-liberal” are ABnormal….

“not applauding hard enough”

The American left stirs another comparison,

(1) recently (2013), from the Norks,

The militants going after Starbucks for failure to put up “pride” decorations make me laugh as much as another group.

Every winter holiday season (Hanukkah, Solstice, Beethoven’s Birthday, Christmas) someone will say that this or that store us “waging war on Christmas” because their ad copy or store decorations say “Happy Holidays”.

Sean Hannity can be counted on to whine.

IndianaGuy in reply to The Gentle Grizzly. | June 15, 2023 at 8:12 am

Sir, that is a mis-representation of Christians who want to continue wishing people a “Merry Christmas” during the Christmas holiday season. The issue isn’t others saying Happy Holidays. The issue is the pressure I get from my place of work to not say Merry Christmas. The snowflakes get offended by the Christ in Christmas.
This federal holiday is a celebration of Jesus’ birth (God coming to earth) which led to His voluntary sacrificial death to take the punishment for our sin and allow all who follow Him to have eternal life with Him.

Palace of Stone tweeted, “ Anyone who disagrees w/ me is “far-right”.”.

Or, “anyone who disagrees with me is right”.

Clearly most normal Americans do not want the LGBT agenda shoved down their throats and their pocketbooks

henrybowman in reply to Steven Brizel. | June 14, 2023 at 1:56 pm

Nothing is clear about this report.
The union claims it, the company denies it.
No one seems to have bothered to interview a store manager.

I’ll have to look for the citation, but Gallup released poll results this week that more than 60% of Americans are less or no longer favorable to the alphabet soup mentally diseased crowd.

The problem is not the LGB part of that crowd, whether anyone agrees with them or not. The problem is with the T+ part of that crowd that wants to normalize sex with children, mutilate children’s bodies and invent any other number of so-called “treatments” that present a permanent solution to a temporary problem or something that isn’t a problem at all.

The alphabet community is acting more and more like spoiled children than anything else so obviously they will be unhappy at anything other than them getting everything their own way and everyone else be damned.

    Capitalist-Dad in reply to Cleetus. | June 14, 2023 at 8:52 am

Plus, pride is taken in an accomplishment. The alphabet soup is anything but that. L, G, B are preferences, T is a mental disorder, Q is confusion which can’t be an identity, and everything after Q is a fetish. No accomplishments here, nothing to celebrate

      BoboPhat in reply to Capitalist-Dad. | June 14, 2023 at 9:39 am

How are they not -all- psychological disorders? Same as with sexual attraction to feet, or shoes, or animals, or whatever crazy crap people come-up with that has nothing to do with any actual biological drive to reproduce?

      not_a_lawyer in reply to Capitalist-Dad. | June 15, 2023 at 2:12 am

Bing bing, we have a winner! I have been saying for years that the LGB community must excommunicate the Ts. Thanks for the clarity.

Dylan Mulvaney deserves a card, flowers and a gift card to Victor’s Secrets for finally waking up America.

“Ultra conservative”. Ultra sounds like a label for a heavy duty adult diaper brand.

Why would they want their mocha lattes equated with Bud Light?

Maybe corporations are learning a good lesson for once.

It was weird to see conservatives celebrate something that was completely unconfirmed crap like that. Videos were made!

LibraryGryffon | June 14, 2023 at 9:30 am

I find it offensive that one of the quotes refers to the conservative backlash against companies supporting equal rights.

They have a very odd definition of “equal”.

“a stunning cave to far-right anti-LGBTQ fury”

The writer of this is probably six figures in student loan debt for that English degree.

You have to wear the ribbon!!

What month is Normie month?

Seventy-five percent of people want to know…

This is actually a pretty big deal. When Target and A/B jumped the pride shark they alienated a large swath of consumers and the market cap loss was in the billions. Starbucks, on the other hand, has a narrower market but that market is 99% Suburban Marxists. If their business does not suffer it means the Pride Nazis lost a whole lot of leverage and other more main stream corporations can point to Starbucks as an excuse to push back.

The Rainbow, in human context, is a symbol of past, present, and progressive albinophobia.

That said, honor this month we honor the polyamorous love of lions, lionesses, and their [unPlanned] cubs in gay parade, on the African savanna, but probably not on the Isle of Lesbos.

    diver64 in reply to n.n. | June 14, 2023 at 2:57 pm

No idea what any of that means but I will admit to a little albinophobia. Those pink eyes are a little spooky
