Rep. Adam Schiff Censured by House for Lying About Trump-Russia Collusion

Rep. Adam Schiff Censured by House for Lying About Trump-Russia Collusion

“Schiff abused his privileges, claiming to know the truth while leaving Americans in the dark about his web of lies… lies so severe that they altered the course of the country forever.”

It couldn’t have happened to a nicer person! Rep. Adam Schiff, who is one of the worst in D.C. (that’s saying something!), has been censured by the House of Representatives for lying about Trump-Russia collusion:

It was the second time the House tried to pass a resolution censuring Schiff from Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla. A resolution from Luna failed on the House floor last week because it recommended a fine against Schiff of $16 million, which Democrats and 20 Republicans opposed.

With that language removed, the resolution was able to pass on a party-line vote, which Luna said was needed to fight back against Schiff’s “lies” about Trump.

“As chair of the House Intelligence committee, Adam Schiff launched an all-out political campaign built on baseless distortions against a sitting U.S. president, at the expense of every single citizen in this country and the honor of the House of Representatives,” Luna said before the vote. “With access to sensitive information unavailable to most members of Congress and certainly not accessible to the American people, Schiff abused his privileges, claiming to know the truth while leaving Americans in the dark about his web of lies… lies so severe that they altered the course of the country forever.”

Schiff spoke in his own defense on the House floor, and thanked Republicans for bringing the resolution forward again.

“To my Republican colleagues who introduced this resolution, I thank you. You honor me with your enmity you, you flatter me with this falsehood,” Schiff said.

“You, who are the authors of a big lie about the last election, must condemn the truth tellers,” he said. “And I stand proudly before you. Your words tell me that I have been effective in the defense of our democracy, and I am grateful.”

A toothless censure with no consequences.

What a joke.

Next step:Schiff becomes Senator from California.Boy,that censure really ruined him!

    Well, maybe, maybe not.
    Anna Paulina Luna writes:

I’ve now formally CENSURED Schiff and referred him for an ethics investigation over his role in the phony Trump-Russia collusion witch hunt!

I’ll be honest with you: This resolution doesn’t go as far as I would like (Schiff ought to be expelled from Congress), but it’s the best I could do with a narrow Republican House majority.

CommoChief in reply to henrybowman. | June 21, 2023 at 10:59 pm

One bite at a time. A small and fractious majority doesn’t lend itself to sweeping or immediate steps. Every one of those members has an ego, their own interests, goals, ideas and each CD they represent is unique. Getting them to agree isn’t an easy task. They are after all politicians, who believe in deal making and something in return for something but nothing in return for nothing.

the best she could do with GOPe members who were cheering Adam on because they hate Trump and his supporters too, and wanted them gone.

I did enjoy the Democrats chanting “shame, shame, shame.” I know it was not intended that way–but it summed up Adam Schiff’s career to date. It was expecting the Game of Thrones Shame Nun to escort Schifty Schiff out of the House Chamber.

If the republicans were smart (and they’re not), they should have flooded the well at the same time, circled Schiff, pointed, and chanted “shame, shame, shame” at him with the Democrats. The Democrats would quickly realize their little tantrum was co-opted and stop, and find some other tactic.

They need to play the game using the Democrat rules. Make them live up to it. (Where have I heard that before?)

        Exactly so.

    Got this text:

NEW: I just left the House floor, where the SECOND McCarthy-backed effort to censure me for holding Donald Trump accountable just passed.

We have a number of pressing challenges before our country – affordable housing, access to health care, creating jobs and so much more. Yet, Kevin McCarthy chose to take up this MAGA effort to distract from Trump’s legal problems.

The GOP is completely unhinged and beholden to Donald Trump. But make no mistake: this will not stop me from holding Trump and his accomplices accountable.

I’m going to need you by my side now more than ever to win this Senate race: Will you chip in $25 to help me stand up to the GOP’s attacks?

Just arrogant lying! I guess he is saying that he lied to hold Trump accountable for Russian collusion with was an attempt to frame Trump using lies!

SeymourButz | June 21, 2023 at 7:50 pm

And of course, despite being exposed for being a liar, every single democrat still fell on their swords for him.

WTPuck in reply to SeymourButz. | June 22, 2023 at 10:23 am

Because they’re all liars. And domestic enemies. Of course, that category is not limited to dems.

aslannn in reply to SeymourButz. | June 22, 2023 at 2:13 pm

No Democrat fell on a sword. They did what they were expected to do, and what they wanted to do. They will pay no price.

BierceAmbrose in reply to aslannn. | June 22, 2023 at 2:49 pm

Exactly so. They are all operatives off the party apparatus.

      — Legislators’ jobs are not to represent their constituencies, nor “the country.” Their job is to operate govt to patronize the party’s selected constituencies.

      — The guy in the oval isn’t there to do the job, but occupy the office. Likewise the FetterBeast. He doesn’t have to be competent, just boost The Screaming D’s Senate count by 1.

      — Etc.

    Stunningly SHAMEFUL!!! Not ONE???!!!!!

He should be in jail. While I don’t favor weaponizing the justice system, in his case I’d make an exception.

Ladies, can you imagine being married to this slimey, pop-eyed worm?

retiredcantbefired | June 21, 2023 at 9:18 pm

He should have been expelled from the House.

But that would have required a lot of votes from Democrats.

Close The Fed | June 21, 2023 at 9:53 pm

What does it take for expulsion?

I’d like to say I feel badly for him, but that would be a lie.

not_a_lawyer | June 21, 2023 at 10:38 pm

After watching Schiff talk about the Russia hoax on network news about five times, I realized he was flat-out lying. At the time, I thought the remedy was that the network news producers should stop giving him air time to propagate his lies. That did not happen.

When Trump brought up the Hunter laptop to an interlocuter, she famously said that her network could not ‘verify the validity’ of the laptop, and as such it was out-of-bounds for further discussion.

So, which is it? Five minutes with the laptop would be sufficient to verify the validity of the laptop, but their network would not allow discussion of it. They would, however, allow Schiff to lie with abandon on their airwaves.

Although I agree that ‘censure’ is effectively meaningless, it is at least an acknowledgement that the man is a serial liar, which is better than nothing.

Erronius

So can we get rid of the 6 “present” and the 3 “no vote” GOPE who agree with Adam and didn’t care that he is a liar???

Who were the lily livered six who refused to do even this?

Some of them were on the Ethics Committee and had to vote “present” just in case this comes to them. But not all of them. Know their names, identify them, primary them.

Steven Brizel | June 22, 2023 at 8:37 am

The behavior of the Democrats showed how addicted they are to TDS

I didn’t read the post. Please tell me it ends with Schiff going to the guillotine on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

“To my Republican colleagues who introduced this resolution, I thank you. You honor me with your enmity you, you flatter me with this falsehood,” Schiff said.

Kinda says it all. Not apologetic. Not even “mistakes were made.” It’s schiffspeak for “OK, you figured it out. So what? Do me something. The law doesn’t apply to me, only to the little guys: in other words, you.”

GWB in reply to coyote. | June 22, 2023 at 12:22 pm

The reply should be “Yeah, you’re censured now. So shut up and sit down, and you may not comment for the next 180 days.”

Is it possible he doesn’t “know” right from wrong?? One would think so listening to his remarks after the vote. One thing we know there is not ONE DEMOCRAT in the US House of Representatives who prizes integrity – not in their own life nor in the Halls of Congress where they “serve”!!

liberal lying communist democrats always vote together, but republicans never do

I remember watching video of Schiff testifying under oath, responding to the question whether he had any evidence of the Trump campaign colluding with Russia, and him saying “no”. But I can’t find it.

When is the hanging?

Wasn’t the protest an act of interfering with an official proceeding of the House. I recall many Jan. 6 arrestees charged with that.
Equal justice and no one is above the law.
Mathew Graves, the ball is in your court.

inspectorudy | June 22, 2023 at 11:20 am

What the takeaway for me was that not a single Dem voted for his censure. Just like every vote in the House, it is all about the tribe and not about integrity, truth, or honor. No matter the subject, one side tries to elicit information from the guest and the other tries to embarrass or humiliate them. In other words, the House is no longer the “Peoples” house but a political cesspool of hate and revenge.

I keep hoping there are still “some” Democrats from the past when they were Americans first! I nearly always wind up disappointed in Manchin. He seems like a straight arrow, made his own fortune and then he aligns himself with a crook who did much to keep a Russian Hoax lie going and going and going and costing the Americans anxiety and millions. Are there others one would hope would step up to the plate?? Maybe not – and most of the time not Manchin either!!

Schiff calls this a “badge of honor”…… Order of Lenin First Class would be about right as there is no equivalent , as far as I know, with the CCP or Khmer Rouge. Hw will be a Cali Senator some day as a reward.

yelling “shame” at Kevin McCarthy and refusing to allow him to finish reading the resolution
Then censure them ALL. For “insurrection”. After all, isn’t that what we call it now when a loud bunch of people interrupts the business on the floor of the legislature?

Sad to say and so overtly at the Federal level – only if they are Conservatives. Then there is a good chance they will be held without bail and/or sent to prison! We definitely have Political Prisoners in the USA – and I have reluctantly come to believe even political assassinations!!

I listened to that person lie, lie and lie again on national TV to all of we the people and the world – “he had seen with his own eyes evidence of Trump criminality and Collusion with Russia (something similar to his own behavior when he “thought” he was talking to a credible Russian with dirt on Trump – it was a prank). Even that was all over the tube, but that didn’t shut him up with his lies and when Mueller’s multimillion $$$ committee with unlimited “help” from the FBI couldn’t come up with any connection at all – his comment was “well, nothing they could prove beyond a doubt!” He is supposed to be so smart, but the Man in the Street knows that investigators don’t have the burden of “beyond a doubt” – they simply present their evidence!! This Guy’s slime is maybe not as much as Biden’s, but only because he hasn’t been around as long!!

BierceAmbrose | June 22, 2023 at 2:55 pm

Well, The Feckless R’s are like puppies first trying to walk: cute, but hardly effective.

The House slim majority is doing what they can with what they have, and better than I expected. BUT it’s not like they’re good at it.

Where’s the messaging operation? Every Feckless-R talking head on every media outlet for the next three days with the list off particulars; you know, the inventory of lies and abuse he’s being censured for.

What, they can’t get on the opposition media? — You want any kind of access ever again, you’ll have our guy on; if not, well, your refusal to air the issue will figure in every time your name comes up for the rest of time.

What, they’ll get shot up? — Get competent; that is the job.

The Screaming-D’s have messaging, and voting discipline, because for them it’s about manipulating democratic forms to wield governmental power. Sure, it’s a crime cartel. At least they know what they are trying to do.

inspectorudy | June 22, 2023 at 5:37 pm

Why is it that for every vote taken in the House, only the R side is in doubt of the outcome? Unless it is a raise in their salary, we never are sure of the R vote on anything. McCarthy is going to be another Paul Ryan in the long run. He has learned to talk really tough but when it comes to getting it done, he is a lightweight. If it wasn’t for the Freedom Caucus God knows where we would be right now.

Indeed. By yelling for five minutes these people obstructed official proceedings of the House.
We can now expect the FBI raiding the dems and DoJ indicting them for iNsUuRrEcRiOn!!!, right?
