Ex-Teammate of Lia Thomas Says UPenn Told Swim Team ‘Don’t Talk to the Media’

Ex-Teammate of Lia Thomas Says UPenn Told Swim Team ‘Don’t Talk to the Media’

“That conversation was so scary and so frightening that we were afraid to even speak amongst ourselves. And at that point, you couldn’t really raise any concerns because you didn’t know who you could trust.”

Paula Scanlon, a former swimmer at UPenn with transgender athlete Lia Thomas, unloaded on Fox News regarding the school silencing the team and Karine Jean-Pierre thinking it’s dangerous to have concerns about women’s safety with biological men on a women’s sports team.

UPenn told the swimmers not to talk to the media after Thomas shot up in the headlines for breaking all these swimming records and winning all the races. They also told them they could attend counseling if they didn’t like Thomas on the team, but the swimmer wasn’t going anywhere:

“That conversation was so scary and so frightening that we were afraid to even speak amongst ourselves. And at that point, you couldn’t really raise any concerns because you didn’t know who you could trust,” she said.

“No one wants the win to feel tainted, especially since there is controversy about whether in the future this could be overridden or overruled. How will that change our team’s records, our team scores? So obviously no one really wanted that. I think obviously nobody’s in sports to win unfairly.”

Last week, EWTN correspondent Owen Jensen asked KJP what the president would say if asked about parents’ concerns about biological men competing against their daughters.

Simple question, except it made KJP lose her mind because it “is a dangerous thing to say” a stronger biological male could hurt a female. To KJP, it’s irresponsible that Jenkins even asked the question. I mean, how could anyone even think a female would be unsafe competing against a male:

“That is dangerous, that is a dangerous thing to say,” she continued. “That essentially transgender kids we’re talking about are dangerous. And so that’s something that I have to call out. That is irresponsible. I had just laid out how complicated this issue is. I had just laid out why it’s complicated, and so anything that you have any additional questions, I refer you to the Department of Education. I’m gonna move on.”

Except, you know, a biological male on a female volleyball team hurt a female opponent. Yes, he harmed a female opponent in a non-contact sport. Payton McNabb suffered a concussion and neck injury when the make “spiked the ball and hit her in the space.”

Scanlon backed up McNabb this morning:

“I think what’s dangerous is having biological men in women’s spaces,” Scanlan said on “America’s Newsroom” Monday. “Even if it’s a small number like [Jean-Pierre]’s trying to suggest, it doesn’t make it any less dangerous for women.”

Scanlan clarified that she did not compete directly against or alongside Thomas, as the two swam in different events. But Scanlan said she felt the need to speak out after seeing how young female athletes were being impacted.

Scanlan said McNabb has not pursued athletics in college following her injury, which Scanlan described as “disheartening.”

“Seeing all those young girls that could be affected that way… we can’t let that happen,” she said.

“I think obviously nobody’s in sports to win unfairly.”

Lia Thomas did, he and others like fully comprehend what they are doing.

This could stopped by all females refusing to play. if there are Trans competing against them.

College athletes on scholarship (nearly all college athletes are on scholarship) cannot refuse to play, short of injury or illness. If they do, they lose their scholarship and are booted from campus. This would be a huge, life-transforming event for them. They simply cannot do it without having their lives destroyed.

Actually, there are ways. Obviously a swimmer, say, who is ill isn’t going to compete. What if swimmers scheduled to compete with Thomas were all suddenly “ill”? Thomas might win by default, but it would be a hollow victory. And the organization sponsoring the event might instead simply decide to cancel it if there is no contest. Or it could go on holding meets with single entrants for some events.

Is it written somewhere that the NCAA can be the only intercollegiate sports organization?

There is no question that men in women’s spaces can pose a danger, and to say otherwise is willful blindness. Have there not been injuries? What about rapes (covered up by the ruling class)? And unfair competition is built into situations where men, like Thomas, “win” against female competitors. University of Pennsylvania and NCAA went full Maoist on the female swimmers, doing everything behind their backs, using “clever” subterfuges like secretly making all locker rooms unisex, threatening scholarships, threatening to scuttle graduate studies, requiring attendance at weekly “re-education” sessions. Then to rub salt in the wounds, stating that anyone who had issues with unfair competition or privacy should go to counseling. I hope there’s a special place in Hell for the people who betrayed the female athletes.

    Fear of the leftist mob.

And then there was ‘Fallon Fox’, the tranny MMA fighter who broke the faces of two female opponents.

KJP is a disgrace. She is truly the poster-child for Affirmative Action… dumb as a box of rocks yet filled with self confidence and hubris. Not to mention the fact she is a lying c*nt.

That is the standard tactic of all authoritarian regimes. Tell you that you are alone. Tell you that your friends will rat you out and you will lose everything.

Young women today have their ‘rendevous with destiny’ moment right now. They didn’t maybe ask for it, but the culture and too many older feminists have brought them to this moment. If the school says avoid the media, you seek out media. All media anywhere you can be heard. Ladies, you are young and in a fight you didn’t start. Fight it and shame on those old feminists if they don’t back you.

the comment in the article about a female volleyball player getting hit in the face with a volleyball.

fwiw , I have been hit in the face twice, once by a mens player from a european national team – that one hurt. the second time in a pick up game against the school’s university womens team. The female player miss hit the ball and it just floated – got caught off guard.

Mens players hit the ball in the 80-100 mph range even in HS while the top womens players hit in the range of 50-70mph . that is a huge difference.

Furthermore, the height of the net is different between men’s and women’s volleyball. The men’s net is 8′. The women’s is 7′ 6″. The result is that the ball can be spiked in a more vertical manner with a women’s net. Women do not have the natural jumping ability than men do, so it makes sense to place the net lower for women than men. If the net were at 8′, the likelihood of this young female athlete would have been injured by a man is much lower.

Heh- something isn’t resonating with me and isn’t passing the smell test.

College girls unable to be catty passive aggressive bullies? So many things just don’t add up.

I’m totally sympathetic to their plight, but back in the day- really bad stuff would accidentally start to happen and I really don’t think that has changed. geeze- I knew girls in my HS who poisoned some class mates with ex-lax for fun.

Back in my day, the young women would complain to the young men, and the young men would take care of business. Lia Thomas should have had the crap beaten out of him by his former male teammates several times now, so much so that he would never even consider competing against women again.

    Erronius

Understandable. If I’m in charge of a women’s swim team and *anything* happens that puts them in the national spotlight, I’m going to be telling every one of the girls/young women/swimmers/whatever to keep their mouths shut around the press, no exceptions. The press has proven to be corrupt beyond measure, and will twist and distort anything the team members say, even if it is recorded for later review. Even if they don’t say anything worth misquoting, the press will happily make up quotes out of whole cloth and run them worldwide, putting the team member on the defense and repeating “But I never said that.”

Um, you do know they didn’t want them talking to the media because they didn’t want them telling the TRUTH about being forced to be in locker rooms with his male genitalia hanging out, right? This is about protecting perversion not the hactivist media–who wouldn’t report, or even recognize, the truth if it slapped them across the face. There is no altruism here, it’s a woke admin trying to protect a man pretending to be a woman, trying to protect “The Narrative.”

Continuing the victim mode isn’t a way to deal with the problem. These women are adults, act like it.

As it is, it just proves that men are better at everything.

William. William Thomas. His name is William Thomas, a mentally ill man who plays make-believe as a woman with the self-gloss of ‘Lia.’

William. Stop using the enemy’s perversion of language for their agenda.

I hear you, but if someone told me their name was Star Finger Twinkle Toes, I would call him that because he says that’s his name.

True story, I had a student once tell me his name was “House.” House. I kid you not. I looked at the roster, wrote in “House” next to his given name, shrugged and said, okay, House.

Now, had that student told me that HE was actually a she and demanded I call him a her . . . naw. Not doing that. Lia can say her name is Barfalonia from Barftown, and I will say that, but I will not call him a woman. That’s the line we need to draw, I think.

Rule of thumb:

When you are told to not talk to the media, you go talk to the media.

Erronius

Perhaps “Lia” Thomas could demonstrate his female credentials on the balance beam.

I would pay a dollar to see that (and watch the video over and over and over again on YouTube).

So, in reality, the fact is that women no longer have any right to privacy whatsoever. Worse, they are actively punished if they complain in any way.

Advocates of this trans nonsense get around any laws or policies by simply declaring, ludicrously, that “trans women ARE women.”

Several of these swimmers are on record saying they weren’t even warned in advance that there would be a full grown male in their locker room, not just changing in front of them but showering with them.

Unfortunately, it’s going to take a whole swim team of Paula’s and a army of Riley Gaine’s to change the direction of this ship approaching the rocky shoreline.

With Blunder-in-chief holding the rudder in his hands, this isn’t going to change.

KJP is the worse of the worse and sometimes, even though it appeared Circle-back was annoying, at least she tried to make an intelligent argument.

    Capitalist-Dad in reply to RepublicanRJL. | June 20, 2023 at 10:16 am

The psickening Psaki didn’t have intelligent comments, just lies, half-truths, and dissembling—the usual tools of the leftists spokes-stooge. KJP simply carries propaganda to the next step: Glaringly obvious lies—we know she’s lying, she knows we know she’s lying and plows ahead anyway. It’s supposed to be a demoralizing thumb in the eye to leftist opponents.

Yet how many of these Penn Swimmers will vote leftist because “abortion!” And “Orange Man Bad!”

It needs to be called what it is grooming and sexual abuse.

Karine Jean-Pierre: A serviceable villain. As duteous to the vices of her masters as badness would desire.

For those who didn’t get it, this is a slightly altered quotation from King Lear (also embedded in “The Walrus” by the Beatles).
