Jason Whitlock: “We Can’t Find Common Ground” With The Left, Need To Go “Our Separate Ways”

“We can’t find common ground with people who have no respect for the truth, no respect for justice, no respect for fairness. We have to think about going our separate ways, and whether that’s through secession or whether that’s through some sort of national divorce”

Columnist and commentator Jason Whitlock appeared on the Tucker Carlson show last week and lamented the fact that it has become impossible to find common ground with the left, citing their embrace of trans ideology.

He even went so far as to suggest secession or national divorce.

Real Clear Politics provides a partial transcript:

JASON WHITLOCK: These guys are so far removed from the truth, so far removed from any of the values that made this country great. We can’t really have partnership with them. And my mindset went to secession, that we have to separate. We have to come out from among them.

They’re so unrighteous. They’re so unclean, that, you know, finding common ground is impossible with people who think men can become women, who told us, “Hey, look, we just want two men to be able to get married, and there’s no slippery slope.” And that was a lie. And we’ve seen the slippery slope. Now it’s drag queens reading books to kids. Now it’s taking kids to drag queen shows. Now it’s mutilating kids and infecting them with gender dysphoria and using it as an excuse to cut off their breasts or cut off their penis.

You can’t have peace. You can’t have partnership with these people. There’s so many lies stacked on top of lies — from the whole Black Lives Matter, George Floyd deal, and “Oh, the police are just out indiscriminately killing black men, and it’s so dangerous because of the police.” That’s all a lie and everybody knows it.

We can’t find common ground with people who have no respect for the truth, no respect for justice, no respect for fairness. We have to think about going our separate ways, and whether that’s through secession or whether that’s through some sort of national divorce, it has to be on the table because you just can’t find common ground with people this delusional who think that they’re God and they can make up the rules.

You just need to find the right words, but the media won’t amplify them because they make money on conflict.

What makes anyone think that a “national divorce” would work?

How many divorces result in one party getting an order of protection from the other? A few.

Now, how many of them require that when one of the parties is a narcissist or a psychopath? ALL OF THEM.

Agreed, they won’t ever rest until everything that made America great is destroyed.

It’s partly a globalist aligned movement anyway. There is no national divorce from a global totalitarian phenomena.

scooterjay in reply to PrincetonAl. | April 9, 2023 at 1:35 pm

World War III will solve it.

This is madness. A “national divorce” or “succession” would just allow the rest of the world to carve up the U.S.A. China would get everything west of the Rockies. Russia or the E.U. would take the East Coast. South America and Mexico would take the South. We are still the United States of America, and if we forget that, then we are doomed to the ash bin of history.

CommoChief in reply to JR. | April 9, 2023 at 5:11 pm

In the aftermath of a destructive separation whether successful or not then maybe the severely wounded carcass could be carved up by other Nations though it would still be an iffy proposition.

In the aftermath of a mostly peaceful separation then no way that happens. Unless the d/prog decided to invite them into ‘their’ new Nation which even the d/prog would be wary of doing for obvious reasons.

scooterjay in reply to JR. | April 9, 2023 at 5:41 pm

None of us have control over that anymore.
It will happen, and the world will see what armed citizens will do if you make an attempt.

The divorce is either amicable or it’s war. And the divorce is coming, don’t be in denial.

Better to be amicable. I think the left would love the idea: they’d have their own fascist nation, and we’d be out of their hair.

Hitler wanted to move German Jews to the enormous “island” of Madagascar (that would have been a gigantic gift to world Jewry, because Madagascar today would be a giant democratic nation). But the British navy threatened German shipping. So the Germans killled 6 million of them instead.

    The divorce should be amicable.

Btw: as we leave the left behind, we also must leave the GOPe behind. Let McConnell settle into his new home in fascist portion of the former America. He’ll be murderedin a week.

It’s naive to think that everything you describe isn’t going to happen anyway given our current trajectory. Our elections are entirely suspect now with so much mail in balloting. Financially we are on the edge (if not past the edge) of ruin. Our military is emasculated. We don’t control our borders. Our govt agencies are wholly corrupt at this point. Our culture is shot, most democrats think this country deserves to some retribution for past sins. Our education systems are a shambles. What path do we have to fix this given the democrat electorate?

I don’t think a national divorce would work for the same reason that we need one. Crazy trannies and lefties aren’t the enemy but are just the weapons of the enemy. The root cause is a cabal of people with tremendous power who are trying to remake our society so they return our species to a low population directly controlled by an all powerful few.

Now, that sounds crazy, but I really think it is true and so do millions and millions of others. It is just so horrible it is hard to consider.

randian in reply to Dathurtz. | April 9, 2023 at 2:41 pm

If only sounds crazy if you haven’t paid attention to what progressives have been saying for decades, and what the WEF is saying now. They are no longer circumspect about their aims because they believe they cannot be stopped, and given how things are going currently they can’t.

Whitewall in reply to randian. | April 9, 2023 at 5:35 pm

      This is not new.

Vladimir Lenin: “Probe with a bayonet: if you meet
steel, stop. If you meet mush, then push.”

What Lenin instinctively knew was that their success was
entirely dependent on the moral “mush” of their enemy. This isn’t a physical
confrontation. Yet. It is a moral one. Either we let these cretins and their
“morals” prevail, or we stand up and defend the inherently superior morality
of freedom and liberty and we win. Period.

Reagan knew it too, which is why taking the MORAL stand to defend morality
of capitalism against the horrors of Leninism was so successful. There is no
compromise with a mindset that sees no moral distinction between capitalism
      and Leninism.

fscarn in reply to Dathurtz. | April 9, 2023 at 3:39 pm

“It is just so horrible it is hard to consider.”

It’s a plan going back to the 18th century. Yes, they want world government which they will operate for their perpetual benefit. WWI was a simple and horrible excuse, costing the lives of millions, to fasten a League of Nations, a world government, onto the world. Because an American-minded Senate rejected the League and would not join, a second world war was planned, this one even more horrible. This time introducing the United Nations. Same deadly intent, nicer sounding name. Seriously, how does a post-WWI street vagabond go from that occupation to chancellor of Germany in 14 years! How? With a lot of CFR/Wall Street money backing him.

Our joining the UN was an enormous betrayal of our independence, of our sovereignty. More duplicity has followed from all those UN-affiliated groups, UNESCO, WTO, WHO, and more, including all those foregoing wars. Each one has eroded our sovereignty.

“Crazy trannies and lefties aren’t the enemy but are just the weapons of the enemy.”
Absolutely true, but it’s just like saying that it’s not zombies’ fault they are zombies, it’s the fault of the people who created the Z virus. But you’ve still got zombies coming after you.

So long as statists and free men exist there will inevitably be conflict.

The obvious solution to the equation is left as an exercise for the reader.

Sadly, we can’t separate….the left will not leave us alone, we can run to Red States, they will simply use the power of the federal government to come after us. Their various and growing mandates will not stop in blue states, we need to fight them in their blue cities

“they will simply use the power of the federal government to come after us…”

Exactly, Which is why we need a divorce, not a co-government with fascists.

jimincalif in reply to billc. | April 16, 2023 at 10:28 am

Right, they aren’t satisfied until they have total power, so extreme federalism won’t work, even though it would be the better approach than a national divorce.

“We can’t find common ground with people who have no respect for the truth”

full stop right there. I think it was a Russian dissident who said the point of the Soviet propaganda is not that anyone believes it, but that you have to live like you believe it, and in lying to yourself day in and day out, you destroy your soul. And make it easier for the PTB to control you.

This wave or movement that our nation is experiencing now does not fit any mold. Some call it Marxism, some Socialism, and some Communism but I don’t believe any of them are correct. None of those “Isms” allow the LBGQTXYZ to take over the national discussion or to dictate the morals and medical procedures. None allow one race to run wild against all the other races. Our country is in the darkest days in its history and it is due to moral decline from every institution. Congress, academia, TV, Hollywood, churches, smartphones, and last but not least, parents. Because things are getting so “In your face” maybe the pendulum will start its swing back to the middle. I too do not believe that a divorce will work but some form of Constitutional amendment that allows more autonomy for the states about federal laws and taxes might be a start.

Wat makes you think the Left will pay any attention to a new Constitutional amendment? They are ignoring the Constitution and the laws as it is. The only thing that will get their attention is a two-by-four upside the head. I am not speaking metaphorically.

inspectorudy in reply to Rusty Bill. | April 10, 2023 at 7:00 pm

Having been in a war where people tried to kill me I can assure you that you do not want that for our country. Tough talk at the keyboard is not the same as watching a loved one die. Review the civil war and see if you think the 2×4, not metaphorically is the answer. War has almost never been the answer. The one thing about Trump that I have always admired was his view of war and how he abhors it.

chrisboltssr | April 9, 2023 at 3:29 pm

How do you negotiate with evil? You don’t.

SeymourButz | April 9, 2023 at 3:38 pm

A national divorce would be unnecessary if we had a federal government that respected states rights and didn’t use federal agencies to silently subvert the will of the people.

    “If”

Seymour – it’s over. We no longer have a federal government that respects anything in the Constitution, let alone states rights.

Stick a fork in it. It’s done.

CommoChief in reply to SeymourButz. | April 9, 2023 at 5:22 pm

Federalism is the only answer short of separation. Unfortunately the leftists aren’t alone in pushing for Congress and DC bureaucracy to impose their will in a one size fits all national legislation. Plenty of folks on the right do the same thing for their pet issues.

Abortion comes to mind as the most prominent example where many on both the right and the left want a National solution imposed from DC to restrain the individual States instead of embracing Federalism and allowing each State to figure out legislation for itself based on the culture, history and political composition of that State.

inspectorudy in reply to SeymourButz. | April 10, 2023 at 7:03 pm

That is why the 2024 election is so important! We can change it all without firing a shot if we all do our part in the next election. Of course, our RINOs in DC have a big job to see that voting is open and fair.

jimincalif in reply to inspectorudy. | April 16, 2023 at 10:29 am

I don’t have much faith that future elections will be anything close to fair. The left was overconfident in 2016 and Trump snuck in. They will never let this happen again.

jimincalif in reply to SeymourButz. | April 16, 2023 at 10:37 am

Yeah, extreme federalism would be the best solution, but there is no way to stop or even roll back the extra-constitutional powers the federal government has granted itself. Conservatives/non-leftists have a choice to either live under tyranny or attempt a national divorce. It would be good if some research could be done to figure out how to implement such divorce in a preferably peaceful manner. Maybe apply for a federal grant under a somewhat tangential topic of “exploring the intersectionality of states rights under the constitution with furtherance of DEI, LGBTG+ETC and man-boy love” would get a few million bucks to get it started.

We gonna rope off some land and put on a show from the Canadian border down to Mexico…it might be the most potentially gross thing we have ever seen.

John Prine knew.

I would add to Jason’s arguments that the USA is way too big as it is today. If this were Europe, every state or two would be its own nation. (France is only a little larger than Texas.). Dividing the US into two or three separate nations would be no big deal, in my opinion. Unfortunately, I do not believe the left would stand for it. All those Antifa thugs who have undergone basic training in Portland would crawl out from under their rocks to create mayhem. We already know the federal agencies have been politicized. This time, it wouldn’t be just the FBI at your door. It would be US Army tanks rolling down Main Street. Our only hope would be that the soy boys the military is trying to recruit can’t do the job, while real Christian patriots can.

Secession or “national divorce” on the basis of geography is unworkable.. California, where I live, was moderately Republican for the entire 19th and 20th centuries, but is no longer. Southern states were predictably and historically Democrat (“the solid South”) until LBJ’s Great Society and Civil Rights Law of 1964 quickly converted them to Republican. So on and so forth, and these state alignments will inevitably change over time as exogenous events occur and Americans migrate among states.
Perhaps secession or divorce may ultimately occur on some basis other than geography, but it’s unclear at this point what that basis might be. In the meantime, we will continue to select our friends and acquaintances on the basis of personal common gound. But it is unfortunate when deep divisions occur among members of otherwise closely-knit families.

Rush Limbaugh stated repeatedly that you can never reason with a liberal on anything, so stop trying and go with your conservative ways!

    Pepsi_Freak in reply to jrcowboy49. | April 10, 2023 at 11:49 pm

Conservatives mainly want to be left alone. The left mainly wants to control everything everyone does or thinks. There is no middle ground, which is why no matter what concessions the conservatives make, it is never enough for the Left and just leads to more extreme demands.

Further, the Left is organized and motivated while the Right is splintered and satisfied with temporary victories.

The Founding Fathers foresaw this. The solutions they crafted, mainly a limited central government with limited powers and limited jurisdiction (mainly over things that had to be centrally managed, like national defense and relations with other nations) and most decisions being made locally for local application to deal locally with local problems, would work, and would give maximum liberty and freedom. That worked reasonably well, but only for about a half-century. Then the control freaks got the upper hand politically and wanted to reign over all the people.

“Do as we tell you!” they told the rest, “about everything.” The control freaks were resisted by the rest, often successfully during the first years, but ultimately push came to shove, and the rest said, “That’s not what we signed up for. We’ll leave and you can sort yourselves out while we live our lives.”

“Oh no you won’t!” said the control freaks, “We’ll not let you leave. You will stay here and obey us,”

Well, we know how that turned out. Anyone see any parallels with the current situation?

inspectorudy | April 10, 2023 at 7:18 pm

I’ll reiterate it one more time, the msm is the biggest enemy and cause of the mess we are in. Take away the nightly crap about LBGTQXYZ and the issue doesn’t exist. Report every night on the fact that the FBI has had Hunter’s laptop for almost four years with no results. Show every night the border crisis and how it is going to affect almost every American in their pocketbook and personal lives. Show nightly what inflation is doing to all of us and future generations. Show nightly what Biden and his family have done to make millions of dollars from the Chinese. Show nightly what Biden has done to our military and its strength. Show nightly what Biden and the LGBTQXYZ push are doing to our schools and against our kids.
But instead, we have nothing but Trump’s crimes, how oppressed the LBGTQXYZ community is. How white supremacy is the number one crime threat. That blacks are oppressed. AntiFa and blm are good and patriots and churches are bad. Would any of us know who aoc is if it weren’t for the msm? Do you see the picture? They create every issue and then blow it out of proportion and then demand action on it. They create every nightly news story and then push it against the American people. They never put pressure on any Dem or their lies. The msm is the problem!

Blackgriffin | April 11, 2023 at 9:45 am

So, is there anyone or a group of anyones who are brainstorming to see how this could actually be accomplished? It won’t happen unless it’s made to happen. And that takes planning.

The only way secession would ever work would be if Red states were able to expel Democrats and leftist trash back to the Blue sewers they came from and confiscate their assets. Sounds harsh and very illegal, however there is no imagining that Red states that have seceded from the Blue mess would be able to stop the Blue state’s continued piracy of Red states’ resources.

    Pepsi_Freak in reply to drsamherman. | April 12, 2023 at 8:47 pm

Unfortunately I think you’re right. History shows that control freaks feel they have to control, and even if they are stopped they come back to try again (and the ratchet seems to work only in one direction). As someone once said, “Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom.” However, I do think they could be sufficiently contained if the rest of us were serious (and vigilant).
