DeSantis: Manhattan DA Bragg Going After Trump is ‘an Example of Pursuing a Political Agenda and Weaponizing the Office’
“The Soros district attorneys are a menace to society and I’m just glad that I’m the only governor in the country that’s actually removed one from office during my tenure.”
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis addressed the possibility of Soros-backed Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg indicting Donald Trump:
“So I’ve seen rumors swirl, I have not seen any facts yet,” he said. “The Manhattan district attorney is a Soros-funded prosecutor.”
“He, like other Soros-funded prosecutors, they weaponize their office to impose a political agenda on society at the expense of the rule of law and public safety,” DeSantis said. “He has downgraded over 50% of the felonies to misdemeanors. He says he doesn’t want to even have jail time for the vast, vast majority of crimes.”
DeSantis said he doesn’t know “what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair.”
“I just – I can’t speak to that. But what I can speak to, is that if you have a prosecutor who is ignoring crimes happening every single day in his jurisdiction, and he chooses to go back many, many years ago, to try to use something about porn star hush money payments. You know, that’s an example of pursuing a political agenda and weaponizing the office,” he said.
“That’s fundamentally wrong.”
The governor pivoted to his own encounter with a “Soros-funded” district attorney – Andrew Warren – whom he suspended.
“The Soros district attorneys are a menace to society and I’m just glad that I’m the only governor in the country that’s actually removed one from office during my tenure,” he said.
#BREAKING: DeSantis grills Manhattan District Attorney for potential Trump indictment

DeSantis slams Manhattan DA as “Soros prosecutor,” makes note that the charges against Trump stem from payments “to a porn star,” says real victims “are ordinary Americans” because the DA is ignoring crime in favor of political agenda.

Trump to later today announce his support for being prosecuted since poopy head DeSantis is opposed to it.
Don’t think I would use “poopy head” to describe DeSantis, but let’s go with the scatalogical angle. I would call him a classless turd for that back-handed insult/defense of President Trump in which the classless turd doesn’t even mention President Trump.
Why the hell should he mention him? It’s about Bragg, not Trump.
Ask the classless turd. And not about President Trump? It’s all about President Trump.
No, it’s all about the weaponization of office to attack political enemies. That corrupt abuse of power is the primary problem here. Along with the breaking of precedent in indicting a former president / someone running for president (the excuse made to not indict Hillary). It’s far more significant that this precedent be broken than that it be broken for Trump. Democrats tend to do this a lot and then live to regret it (remember the Reid Rule and how that played out for Dems?). DeSantis is exactly right to focus on the abuse of power and weaponizing of public office for partisan ends because that is what actually matters here.
Who is being attacked? Who has been attacked again and again by state and federal actors abusing their authority for political purposes? Yeah, I think it’s about President Trump. And yes, this is serious matter that requires a serious response, not an insult. The man is unserious and classless.
Normal Americans are being treated to the same unjust politicized prosecutions, why don’t you care about them as much as you do about Trump? The J6 political prisoners are a blight of shame on our “nation of laws,” but no one seems at all interested in their unjust railroading and kangeroo courts. I just don’t buy that Trump is any “better” or more important than any one–much less all–of them.
The weaponization of the FBI, CIA, IRS, and a host of other executive agencies against normal Americans is a far greater threat. Trump once said they are coming for us, but he’s standing in the way. That may have been true, then. But as Biden made clear in his blood red speech and as we have seen unfold, they are already coming for us. At school board meetings, at pro-life centers, in Catholic churches, at peaceful protests outside abortion clinics, and on. There is nothing and no one standing in their way now, and they know it. Making this about Trump is short-sighted, historically ignorant, and just plain obtuse. But you do you.
Sure, plenty of other abuses. But the indictment of President Trump in a Soviet-esque clown show is now in the spotlight. And the classless punk takes the opportunity to make childish insults. Hardly surprising supporters of the classless punk do the same to anyone pointing that out.
Childish insults? That’s rich coming from someone who ignores Trump’s childish attacks on DeSantis PRIOR TO THE MIDTERMS and his bizarre claim that Glen Youngkin’s name “sounds Chinese.” Nothing at all childish about that, right? You people don’t even hear yourselves, do you?
The difference is that this is not the campaign trail and only a classless punk not ready for the presidency behave like this.
You seem to imagine that “classless punk” is a winner since you repeat it in every post. You know that’s just crazy, right? Are people supposed to be upset by your childish digs? Or do you believe that if you repeat it enough people will believe it? You aren’t used to talking to grown-ups, are you?
I was trying to be polite but since it bothers you I’ll go back to the original classless turd. And I don’t quite understand your attitude. You don’t seem to mind doling out the “childish digs” yourself and you have no objection do the classless punk, er turd DeSantis doing the same..
Considering the nasty, baseless things Trump’s been saying about DeSantis, not the least of which is calling him a pedophile, DeSantis showed real class in saying anything at all against the NYC prosecution. At this point he owes Trump nothing.
The cult of Trump will accept no less than fealty.
Maybe they all want to sign loyalty oaths swearing allegiance to him. That being the case, I think I found a good template for one. I am having it translated from the original German, and the name changed therein.
Perfect! (Is this where I click my heels together?)
A Hitler comparison? Really?
Nice to see an editor here subscribe.
Griz is always making jokes, and this was one. A funny one. Sorry if you can’t see humor anymore. I hear that happens when you turn into a fanatic, but I’m not sure since I usually only see it on the far left.
Perhaps it was, but it was unclear and not a joking matter in the way it was directed. Sense of humor quite intact, thank you very much. Nor a fanatic. That more clearly describes yourself at this point. You sure like to get over-personal.
Yeah, I’m not pouting and whining with faux outrage about a joke (or still trying to make out like I’m all offended by something that is “not a joking matter”–EVERYTHING is a joking matter around here, haven’t you noticed?). Nor am I getting my panties in a bunch because someone supports a candidate for the GOP nomination that I don’t. Nor am I complaining that someone hurt my feewings/insulted me/blah blah *yawn* blah. That’s all you. And your emotional outbursts are just exhausting.
Not to mention, many of the attacks on Trump are straight out of the progressive playbook.
Who asked you to pout? The fact is that the “joke” was about the “cult of Trump.” No wonder you approved.
Be prepared to be further exhausted.
“EVERYTHING is a joking matter around here.” Sheer nonsense. The animus that has been fomented here lately, including by yourself, is no joking matter.
If the “joke” was directed at the so-called DeSantis “cult,” would you have responded the same way?
Looks like Trump Derangement syndrome has infected a lot of commenters here. Maybe you all can form some sort of therapy group and help each other recover?
Of course it’s about Trump. He missed a huge political opportunity by not fully recognizing that fact.
Yeah, he should have thought up some classy name like “DeSanctimonious”.
That works too. But if you don’t like classless turd we can go with classless punk, or just classless.
Interesting. So you see Trump as the epitome of class? ‘Trump is classy’ is pretty much the last descriptor I can imagine for him, but hey, you do you.
We could just go with “classless hypocritical Trumpbot”, but I don’t want to be accused of attacking a fellow commenter.
No, Fuzzy, I see president Trump as the victim of a political prosecution/persecution reminiscent of the worst excesses of the USSR. It takes a special level of classlessness for a Republican to take this opportunity to make snide insulting comments.
I see President Trump on this blog as the line in many sad violin serenades. Maybe you can all get a kickstart project together to make a lifetime movie about it.
Classeless punk governor with classless punk supporters.
Google Stormy Daniels, the porn star, on the incognito setting and see what a true classless b**ch she really is! I would rather become a unic before I would try that! Check out her threesomes! Trump did and paid her off to keep quiet. She and Avinati tried to blackmail him and it failed. DeSantis didn’t say one thing that was not true. He never mentioned Trump by name so why the outrage? What did he say that upset the MAGA crowd so badly? Is thin skin a communicable disease? It sure looks like some of you have gotten really thin skin all of a sudden. After my third martini, can’t imagine going for that hag over Melania!
Trump derangement syndrome is a sickness so ‘I don’t really blame you but for your own sake, seek some therapy.
DeSantis waited to see what the Focus Groups said. Finally, he speaks.
Why should he speak at all on what so far is nothing more than a rumor promoted by Trump cultists as a sympathy play for his campaign?
First, it’s not a “rumor” promoted by “Trump cultists,” it’s specific intimations by the NY DA being widely reported. Second, he should speak on it because its implications related to abuses of power and corruption and our civic health are vast and profound. If he cannot see this, he is not equal to high office.
fanatic, you wrote: “its implications related to abuses of power and corruption and our civic health are vast and profound”
And that is precisely what DeSantis condemned in no uncertain terms.
Exactly. If anyone is looking for an authentic candidate, DeSantis ain’t it. He’s too busy looking out for the people of Florida to be involved in a fight to save country. It doesn’t get more sanctimonious than that. It took him 3 days to practice this press conference. Geez. I can just imagine him now debating Trump. He’ll get crushed.
What a concept. The governor of Florida looking out for the people of Florida. How DARE he!
Says the guy that waited to find out what he was supposed to think.
Hey Matt, it looks like he was correct to wait because the whole thing seems to be a Trump hoax. Whether by Trump or the idiot DA, it is still a hoax but guess what? It got all the negative news about the Biden’s Chinese money and the failing bank system completely out of the msm.
He doesn’t owe Trump anything at this point, especially after Trump accused him of being a pedo. And how does Trump respond to DeSantis condemning this prosecution? With another attack on DeSantis. Totally without class.
Me, I wouldn’t go for the Trump vs DeSantis angle. That’s what Democrats want. I won’t be a tool for Democrats.
It’s about abuse of power by Democrats.
Push back against that.
Fair point. But look who on here is stoking the Trump vs DeSantis angle.
Both sides are.
Look in the mirror.
Or just above, where you said: “The cult of Trump will accept no less than fealty.”
And here you are, incessantly continuing to prove it.
Hey Al, welcome to the Dem toolbox! The MAGAs here are so dimwitted that they have to trash anyone who offers anything different than revenge and anger. They don’t want to even listen to another side. Does that sound familiar? All academia, Hollywood, DNC, the entire Dem party, MAGAs, and the ACLU. Not one dissenting word will be allowed or we will fight.
Hey, I consider myself a MAGA, and I stipulate that Trump started the movement, but I don’t believe it lives and dies with him, or that he has some sort of copyright on it.
Why would he be glad that he’s the only governor that has gotten rid of a Soros DA?
Don’t get me wrong, I am happy Desantis did it, but I also wish every governor would fire every Soros DA.
Why did he wait so long to respond? Last guy to step up and safely speak the obvious. Ho-hum. What a leader.
Because he wanted to irritate you.
If DeSantis saved a child from a burning building Phil would want to know why DeSantis allowed the fire in the first place.
And if Trump visited the child in the hospital after the fact Phil would declare Trump the greatest hero since Christ, perhaps greater.
The classless punk was waiting for someone to craft a statement for him whereby he could insult President Trump and at the same time pretend to decry the political persecution.
Wow you are so witty and biting, what an absolute deep well of sharp retorts you are.., You know NOTHING about DeSantis and how amazing he has been here in Florida… and you apparently know nothing in general. I support Trump but I am not a cult member like you… people like you are responsible for Democrats getting elected all over this country with your absurd rigid stances you take over ridiculous things..,Grow up and wise up. Btw if extradited from Florida and wanting to fight it … pretty much all that would stand between Trump and the corrupt NY powers that be would be the governor of Fl demanding an investigation. So maybe as usual our Gov. is being the sharp guy he always is. Now run along to your cult meeting…,you utter lackwit
Glad he did, but I do think it was very well planned out.
So….you’re opposed to a leader planning things out, as opposed to acting on impulse, and providing knee-jerk responses that you later have to pretend were some underling’s fault?
Everything DeSantis does is scripted and rehearsed.
So far that seems to working out very well in the string of policy victories, bringing Disney to heel and managing a really bad hurricane. Then there’s the electoral success of a 20 point victory in his bid for re-election.
I don’t see the downside so far with scripted and rehearsed. FWIW that’s why the Tier 1 SpecOps units are so effective; gaming out responses to every scenario imaginable then rehearsal in those scenarios.
A disciplined, planned approach is preferable and more effective in my experience than shoot from the hip, make it up as we go style where discipline and prudence are rejected outright.
Obviously the two of them have different approaches and voters will decide which they prefer in the GoP primary, assuming DeSantis gets in, looking more likely each day. Either has the opportunity to win my vote.
If he had insulted you and your wife as he did the DeSantis’ maybe you wouldn’t have a really soft spot in your heart for the man. He never mentioned his name and only said what the bogus lawsuit was about, Trump paying off a porn star to keep quiet. As it turns out, if he had waited one more day it would have been pointless to respond to a hoax or nonevent. It is also funny that DeSantis NEVER looks down to read his script and I don’t believe he has resorted to teleprompters for news conferences like Biden. Grow up and see how much broader the horizon is.
But but fuzzy LOVES that! He’s a thinker , a real slow burner kind of guy, why I bet he’s still thinking over letting Trump know the FBI are at his gate
Wait, oh , dang…..
Put Melanie’s underwear down!
And you’re still repeating your lie that he was informed in advance.
and you know otherwise how?
Finally! The other clueless guy here, with absolutely no class, has now got a person who really is CLASSLESS! Concise meet Gonzo!
Yeah, this just cancels out everything he’s actually DONE. I mean, words are definitely way more important than effective, decisive action.
That lawyer stepped out of bounds. Just can’t fire anyone you what…only Dems can do that.
It may be that most governors can’t fire a local official like a DA. After all, the only other governor that had a Soros DA removed is … Gruesome Newsom, though that was by a referendum of the people in that district and not by his orders.
NY’s governor can fire a DA for cause. It takes a while because the DA is entitled to a hearing, but she could do it if she wanted to. Zeldin promised to fire Bragg if he were elected.
FL’s governor can only suspend a DA, not fire him. And in this case Desantis actually overstepped his authority. A federal judge found that the suspension was illegal, but that there was no remedy he could offer, but he practically wrote the guy’s brief to the state courts, which I expect he has either already filed or is preparing to do so.
(PS: If you think the judge got it wrong, I challenge you to point out the error. But to do that you would have to read the decision first. When it came down I got a lot of flak over it, but not a single person came up with any flaw in the decision. Most didn’t bother reading it and made completely false assumptions about what they imagined it must have said.)
I thought that was a very curious turn of phrase, and it’s likely he meant that he’s the only one who’s done it to date. Of course you’re right, every governor or mayor anywhere should be doing the same.
That’s mostly the thrust of my comment. I just found the phrase odd and surely not exactly what was meant.
Well, he certainly phrased THAT badly, at least according to this former editor. “Proud” might have worked — “glad” did not.
Hey, remember back in the 90’s when Dennis Prager said there should be unlimited private funding of political candidates because if Bill Gates single-handedly funded a candidate everyone would know he was Bill Gates’s man and people could just vote him out no problem if they didn’t like him and the situation would correct itself?
Buying a politician was the old route…. Funding the theft of elections is the new norm.
It is not that new.
Bragg’s election was not stolen. Soros’s money helped him get his message to the voters, and the voters liked that message. That’s how it’s supposed to work.
PACs are an easy way around abuse of private funding.
Good story, though.
That’s still true. If people don’t like Soros funding someone’s campaign they can vote against him. The majority of voters in Bragg’s district are very happy to have Soros funding him.
@Fuzzy: you really need to watch this short video on yesterday’s statement by presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
Do you understand now why everyone but Trump is lame and not worth taking seriously. This guy has no chance of winning this time around but if he is for real, look out in the future. His statement was EXACTLY what DeSantis should have said LAST WEEK instead of his lame statement as the last guy to say anything.
DeSantis is not a guy who shoots off his mouth without understanding the situation. Never has been. He takes his time, gathers and assesses the facts, and only then makes a move. It’s a great quality in any person, but particularly so in a leader.
We saw this back during the WuFlu pandemic when he initially went along with Trump’s plan regarding lockdowns and masking, etc. While data was coming in, he never pushed law enforcement or any executive agency to enforce his orders, and once he understood more fully the situation, he began going against the federal guidelines. Opening up the state in direct defiance of the Trump administration (Trump himself spouted off at DeSantis and other governors who chose to follow the actual science and not Trump’s blind fumbling). Here in Florida, we appreciated that deliberation and its results–even if many of us had already ditched the masks, social distancing, even business closures . . . again, there was no enforcement, at least not in my deep red area.
Blue areas tried, but DeSantis, now convinced that locking down was a mistake, moved quickly to ensure that blue area “orders” had no teeth: no one could be fined or arrested for not following them. But they were free to do so if they liked. That’s why we started calling our state Free Florida. It was and is free and it’s down to DeSantis that we were and are. If Trump had his way, the Fauci and Birx way, we would not be free, and our state would have suffered the same economic and educational devastation as the states that did follow Trump’s lead.
DeSantis may be one to get the facts, digest them, investigate options, and only then make a decision, but once he’s committed, he is confident in his decisions, as are we Free Floridians because we know he’s not winging it and just shooting off at the mouth based on emotion and hysteria.
So next time, keep in mind that DeSantis is not one to respond with a knee-jerk reaction that has to be explained for days, translated, deconstructed and reconstituted to be understood, and/or walked back. Yeah, you may have to wait a few days, but you won’t have to spend all your time defending what he says, either. It’s a good trade-off.
You didn’t even try to understand anything I’ve said nor read anything I sent you. It’s like arguing with someone’s mother.
This was a slam dunk situation. What you are describing is a dimwit and has no political instincts. He needs days to think about whether he should act now or later on something as big as a former POTUS getting arrested? He should have been the first one to step forward and defend Trump as Ramaswal suggested in the video. At worst, it is a misdemeanor but it is being charged as a felony! He needs time to mull it over? Really?
McCarthy was right on it! So were all just about everyone but the margin of error candidates. All of these geniuses who feel qualified to be president had to wait to see how this plays out and give everyone else the chance to speak before speaking up? WHAT LEADERSHIP! Another unforced error! So now we know that he is the most timid and slowest thinker among the clown car candidates.
No, as he stated, all that is currently circulating are rumors, rumors based on “tea leaves” according to Trump’s own attorney. That DeSantis responded at all should be a plus for Only Trumpers.
That is a brain dead answer. So DeSantis needs to be brought to date with how the Deep State never contacts the attorneys representing the target? Read ALL of Trump’s statement alerting everyone to his impending arrest. You are a very dishonest person. Trump got hold of a leak and pounced on it and the DA immediately acknowledged it was true. WE have know that from the very beginning. Where were you and DeSantis? How out of touch and politically inept is he? He’ll have to do better if he plans on surviving until the debates where he’ll get crushed.
This is all fantasyland stuff, Phil. The DA did not acknowledge it was true because the Grand Jury has not even made a decision either way. I think it’s pretty clear they will decide to indict but until (or if) that happens, there is nothing to confirm. And the supposed leak is just crap per his own freaking attorney who admits they are just “reading tea leaves” and not in contact with the DA.
For someone who has no idea how anything works, you are incredibly certain about your uninformed (and grossly false) opinions. You can call me dishonest all day long, but that doesn’t change the fact that there has been no indictment, the Grand Jury is still hearing witnesses, for goodness’ sake. What is wrong with you?
Only Trumpers aren’t bright enough to see that is a plus.
DeSantis is like Clinton, he has to wait and see what direction the winds of the publics feeling blows…. Like Clinton, he probably had private poles and focus groups figure out what he needed to say.
It was a ‘private pole’ that got Trump in trouble in the first place.
He’s slow cause he has to wait for his handlers to write his script
I have news for you. Most of the half decent things Trump has said recently are written by “handlers”. He shoots his mouth off on twitter and in interviews and it shows.
DeSantis also found Doctor Lapado to be the states surgeon general who was an advocate of hcq, ivermetcin, he was very much opposed to what the heads in dc were advocating at the time. They lead the charge in to use monoclonal antibodies as a treatment option.. I don’t recall any state having a spokesperson as strong as Dr. Lapado even with many at the national level attacking his thinking and actions. He was also strongly against vaccines for healthy kids.
Trump didn’t fire any of his medical advisory team, a. person like Dr. Gottleib should have had a much more prominent role.
True! We had stations set up in our county for such treatments. Then Biden pulled the plug because they were actually saving lives. Disgusting ghoul.
Yep, Trump could have (and frankly, should have) done better, or at least recognized his own weaknesses on covid (he’s not a medical professional after all and can’t be expected to know everything) and assembled a decent team. He did not do that. And there is no indication at all (so far) that he understands his mistake and knows how to correct it. This extends to his extremely poor staff picks and other appointments. He is horribly slow to fire people who deserve it, so slow, that he never got around to it at all in many cases.
I am in the still deep blue area of Florida, south Broward, in Schultz’s district. I saw up close and personal how many were openly fighting against DeSantis trying to get the state back to normal.
No, his statement was for publicity since 99% of the public has no idea who he is. He knew that if he kissed Trump’s rump he would get a ton of exposure both bad and good. It worked and you have fallen for it. This was almost as bad as Trump going to East Palestine OH with a load of bottled water. Look at the publicity he got for a few thousand dollars! When was the last time Trump went to free or demand to see the J6 prisoners? Oh, that’s right, he hasn’t.
Hm. Trump may be doing the wise thing NOT visiting the J6 prisoners. According to “the narrative,” Trump LED the “insurrection” these people committed. I doubt the gulag commandant would even let him in the door, especially since he has no official authority anymore. She doesn’t even let actual congressmen in the door without a protracted battle, and they presumably have oversight of the whole DC government.
What a cute way to say “He doesn’t give a crap”.
He’s right, of course it’s political and they’re nakedly transparent about it.
On the other hand, let’s let the primaries play out. We end up stronger when we have contests.
The elephant in this room is not that Bragg and Soros DA’s are corrupt in performance of their duties overall, but why Bragg is pursuing a political agenda and weaponizing the office IN THIS CASE by choosing to “go back many, many years ago, to try to use something about porn star hush money payments.
You aren’t entirely wrong. I’ll give you credit where it is due.
That’s said there are 2 elephants in the room, which is why it is so full of shit.
Thank you for the underhanded compliment.
Still sensitive I see
No. Just accurate.
And after the statute of limitations has expired and by elevating a misdemeanor into a felony and a case that Trump has fought and been cleared 4-5 times already. We are arguing against people whose only priority is to destroy Trump because the Uniparty can’t do it. Our “cult” is much bigger than theirs and ours actually understands what is going on.
Do it their way and we will once again find ourselves being harangued by them to hold our noses to vote for the LOTE because anything else is throwing your vote away. Been there. Done that. That is why I voted for Ross Perot twice and I forget the other 2nd party guy I voted for but it was the right thing to do. Voting Uniparty is always wrong and DeSantis reeks of Uniparty stink.
OMG! You just mentioned what the bogus lawsuit is about! That’s exactly what DeSantis said and he is being crucified for it. He was only supposed to mention how bad the DA is for the suit but not mention what the suit was about. He did both and the MAGAs are mad!
Social media exposes everyone who uses it but none more so than Trump.
Donald Trump’s Truth Social account is a constant advertisement for his political desperation, seemingly at odds with his position in the Republican field he dominates.
Trump, by any measure or poll, is the front-runner. He leads in the multi-candidate polls, and a recent Emerson survey had him ahead by 40 points in New Hampshire.
No one else is leading by 40 in any polls.
Yet Trump does not act like a front-runner. Front-runners usually try to stay above the fray seeking to reinforce their dominant status.
Whatever the Trump 2024 campaign is, it’s not above the fray.
Following Trump’s Truth Social account, you’d think Ron DeSantis was running away with it, and an envious and obsessed Trump was trying to figure out some way, any way, to begin to close a 20-point gap. Either that, or you might figure Trump was having a personal meltdown.
As a Floridian, my view of Trump is diminished by how he reduces Desantis’ governing success, built on several decades of Republican political efforts in Florida, to the State’s pleasant weather as ridiculous and off-putting.
Trump blasts Ron DeSantis as a “RINO and GLOBALIST” guilty by fundraising associations that tell the tale, according to Trump, from Jeb Bush to George Soros.
Trump claims DeSantis is “a disciple of RINO Paul Ryan” and lumps him in with other globalists at what Trump calls the “Club for No Growth,” the free-market-oriented political action group. He’s happy to regurgitate any Democrat talking point so long as it’s a convenient tool against DeSantis, especially on entitlements.
Trump is a social media guerrilla marketer. He is seeking reelection by employing his 2016 campaign techniques of branding his primary opponents with clever but unpresidential, ignorant slurs and name-calling.
Is it not propaganda for Trump to be attacking DeSantis, who has not declared, but not Hailey, who has?
Hence, the one thing that Republican voters will know about DeSantis forever more is that he’s allegedly an entitlement-cutting RINO who took campaign contributions from donors who are not contributing to Trump. Or, could it be that Trump was jealous of Ron DeSantis and his success and saw him as a formidable threat?
A front-running candidate must be aware of potential threats rather than neglect them. But being on guard is one thing. Being a douche by posting ill will, pettiness, and extreme defensiveness on social media is another. There are signs that Trump is in a solid position to win the GOP nomination. His continued, relentless obsession with Ron DeSantis is not one of them.
Trump has never been a front runner.
He only won when everyone thought Hillary was going to roast him in 2016. It actually suppressed their turnout quite a bit. They’ve since corrected their error and Trump will never win again.
A poll now means very little, especially when he’s not the nominee. Wake me up next year when there’s a 1 on 1 if Trump is still in it. You will see those polls turn on a dime and all of the people choosing Trump to get him to crater in the general will make their true votes known.
And yet, he won. DeSantis hasn’t declared and yet you DeSantis supporters get all hot and bothered because Trump is thumping him around. Why is that?
I bet if DeSantis doesn’t run leaving it all for Trump you DeSantis supporters will become even more angry.
Let these two men fight and whoever comes out on top is the man I’ll support.
Were DeSantis to announce that he is not running, it would destroy the GOPe, That is the dream of all of us who were Tea Party activists.
TP started as a grassroots protest in response to “W” and his “reaching across the aisle” and delivering all but one of Ted Kennedy’s new entitlement programs. He failed on on amnesty for illegals but that was thanks to us Tea Party “terrorists”.
Now for whatever reason, DeSantis is the guy who finds himself in the right spot when all of the planets align to completely destroy the GOPe. All he has to do is endorse Trump, make a heart-felt plea for all to unite to defeat the Deep State once and for all and our nightmare is over.
I’m doing my best to give you knee-jerk DeSantis fanboys nightmares. Maybe this was all a ruse by he and Trump to eat up the clock and allow the Deep State to commit to their plan before they launch their tsunami like a rocket ship when DeSantis announces. Come on DeSantis. You would be THE MAN FOR HISTORY!!!
The massive irony here is that DeSantis has already come out publicly saying he has no intention of running in 2024 and wishes to remain governor. Yet America’s panties continue to twist themselves.
Why is it a “Fight” when only one side makes accusations and name-calls the other side? Why is it a fight when one side has never said anything about the other side that was even remotely bad or a lie? Don’t you Trump lovers realize that he is doing the Democrat’s work for them? He is using their tactics and accusations so that on the msm they just have to report it and not lie about it. My God, all of you are so childish that you can’t stand that there may be an actual intelligent debate to find out who is the best man or woman to take charge of this mess we call our country.
“Trump has never been a front runner.”
As indicated in the comment: “A recent Emerson survey had him ahead by 40 points in New Hampshire.”
Or how about this USA Today story from 4 days ago: “Donald Trump widens lead over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in 2024 GOP presidential race, poll finds.”
The Hill says he’s even leading in Florida.
Never been a frontrunner.
Cognitive dissonance. See it all before, but now it has morphed across party lines, for some.
I would support either one. I am happy with how Trump governed last time; I am happy about how he managed to get all the RINOs to reveal themselves.
I am happy with how DeSantis is running Florida.
De Santis should stay in Florida
M Poppins said: “”De Santis should stay in Florida””
I couldn’t agree more. Whoever runs in 2024 is going to be nothing but a sacrificial lamb anyway. The Dems have already got the next election fixed, and probably already have the votes printed. Now that they’ve stolen Arizona, there is no combination of states that could lead to a Republican, much less a Trump, victory.
That is an unacceptable position to the DeSantis cultists.
Which includes a total of nobody on this board. The only reason DeSantis is defended here is because of you and your fellow cultists and other leftists continually attacking him. Up until Gonzo turned this into a shooting war, this board was very pro-Trump and defended him strenuously, especially during the period following the raid on his house. I’ve said it before about her, but it also applies to you: You’re Trumps worst enemies.
Yes Trump is leading Democrats by 40 in a state he lost twice the second time in embarrassing fashion…..
Trump won 2016 because Hillary considered the three states that decided the election out of play and welcomed Trump spending time and money in those and the fact that everyone thought Hillary had it didn’t help Democrat turnout.
She still won millions more votes than Trump did, and barely lost the three states she never visited.
Your debunking by answering a point healthguy never made makes you look tiny.
Mastriano easily won the Republican primary right before he pained PA sapphire blue.
Don’t need to throw insults to make a point. That makes YOU look tiny.
Calling people cult members over a criticism of DeSantis, as you did below, makes YOU look tiny. The funny part was how you took a comment about him so personal. You said: “I will bet anything you can’t back up what you just said insulting us.” WHO IS US?
As for the comment above, it EXPRESSLY said that Trump has NEVER been a frontrunner. Factually incorrect. Sorry if pointing that out offends you so.
Keep pretending it’s the others who are at fault, and pretending you can PROVE it.
Trump won because he had enough votes to overcome the stealing. They had 4 more years to master that (will be going on 8)
So tell me again, how much closer were we to draft my son during his 4 years than Obama or Biden?
I think Trump has gotten DeSantis more votes that Desantis has gotten Trump. Right now, I am not convinced that DeSantis have my best interest in play. He delayed reactions seem to be an indicator of a follower vs a leader.
Just FYI he has a habit of this then accuses people of putting words in his mouth.
It’s a rinse repeat pattern and he’s not alone. Trumpists have a type.
Regardless, he’s right that I didn’t specify what I meant by frontrunner. Trump has never led poll consensus in a 1 on 1 general election….not against Biden and not against Clinton. I try to be succinct, but I guess you have to spell it out for some people.
He’s leading a poll now? Big whoop. Remind everyone how much power a single poll in a non-election year when the general field hasn’t even been set gets you.
The way our system is designed total votes mean nothing. If the election was proportional you would find a completely different campaign strategy. Right now the repubs on a national level have zero need to campaign or spend money in California, Illinois or New York, an election won by one vote or five million has the same outcome. This is also why you see minimal dem money spent in deep red states.
You simply put the words in someone’s mouth, absent accusations.
1. I have called names before here. I did no such thing there but if you request it I will just insult you whenever I talk to you. Give the same respect I did you by actually going over the points I made
2. The only point I made that could be called an insult was “Your debunking by answering a point healthguy never made makes you look tiny.” if that is too much for your so shaky fragile ego to handle get the hell off the internet. Nobody will ever defend your honor over your ideas being criticized internet or irl.
3. I don’t know why you think you are brilliant for playing stupid games on a chat board with no edit button. Here is what HealthyGuy said
“He only won when everyone thought Hillary was going to roast him in 2016. It actually suppressed their turnout quite a bit. They’ve since corrected their error and Trump will never win again.”
Context means yes it was about the general and yes Trump did lose New Hamshire twice the second time in incredibly embarrassing fashion
3. For the couple of lines where you used arguments instead of insults
Hillary got millions more votes than he did in 2016, he lost 2018, and he lost 2020, and he stopped the red wave in 2022.
In addition polls show voters don’t want him to run again.
That is pretty decisive evidence he isn’t going to win the general election.
If you want to discuss the primary fine but when somebody is brinigng up HILLARY CLINTON either provide evidence she was running in the Republican Primary or engage or shut up because you know what is being discussed (the general election).
To repeat my main point which you chose to ignore
“Mastriano easily won the Republican primary right before he pained PA sapphire blue.”
So polls can be trusted now?
Just checking if we only take the ones that have positive results for Trump.
They only cite polls that support Trump, and when polls show Trump losing support, they discount them. It’s not uncommon. Biden does that, too. In fact, pretty much everyone does it. Most people are just more self-aware that is what they are doing.
Who said that? But the poll results do show clearly that your assertion was nonsense. You made the assertion. How better to refute it?
The NYT recently said: “Over the last two months, we’ve gotten about a dozen polls from pollsters who had surveyed the Republican race over the previous two months. These polls aren’t necessarily of high quality or representative, so don’t focus on the average across these polls. It’s the trend that’s important, and the trend is unequivocal: Every single one of these polls has shown Mr. DeSantis faring worse than before, and Mr. Trump faring better.”
“They only cite polls that support Trump, and when polls show Trump losing support, they discount them. It’s not uncommon. Biden does that, too. In fact, pretty much everyone does it. Most people are just more self-aware that is what they are doing.”
Plenty “self-aware” actually. In fact, it was the not a Trump supporter that first cited the polls above, not a “they.”
Relentless obsession? Jealous? Desperation? Envious and obsessed? Meltdown? Regurgitate any Democrat talking point? Such exxageration.
Maybe he’s just being himself? Odd notion in politics. Some used to think that was an attribute.
Mean tweets are so important to some.
The authenticity thing again. That is only a virtue signalling position that Republicans take for sanctimonious reasons. In reality, they demand to be lied to. Mean tweets are so… ICKY! Authenticity? That is so-o-o-o-o old school. Cool people don’t do that anymore.
This contest between Trump vs DeSantis reminds me of when people who found Elvis vulgar were pushing Pat Boone. Trump is the first Elvis the Republican party has ever had and they found a new Pat Boone to replace him. Good luck with that!
That analogy is funny as hell, wrong but funny.
Running every race as if the candidate is behind is a sound way to maintain a lead, it means the candidate isn’t complacent or comfortable to some degree.
That said there are those voters who are no longer impressed or enamoured with the 2016 style of campaign communication that Trump can’t seem to shake free of. Back then he needed to make a splash and create separation between himself and other candidates by becoming ‘a different kind of politician’.
He did that successfully. The public learned full well that DJT is a different sort of cat. He doesn’t need to keep up the bombastic persona he leaned into in 2016 at least not to the same degree. Lots of voters, ones we need, are turned off by this whether they should be or not. IMO, the combative persona shtick is now doing his campaign more harm than good. Some view it as evidence of lack of disciple or refusal to adapt to the voters concerns. Ultimately the true test of the effectiveness or lack will be in Nov ’24.
“He doesn’t need to keep up the bombastic persona he leaned into in 2016 at least not to the same degree.”
Maybe he is just being authentic. If you have watched him lately, you might see less of the 2016 persona and more of the 2024 in its stead.
Call it what you will, just don’t lose sight of the fact that the ‘authentic’ style is turning off some voters. If you believe it is worth deliberately antagonizing those voters to the point they stay home in Nov or vote for someone else in the primary then we definitely disagree about the importance of attracting votes to a campaign.
Here is an easy example. The call to ‘protest’ the potential indictment. Trump had to know that using the particular phase was going to rub some people the wrong way. He did it anyway. That is, IMO, undisciplined at best and irresponsible at worst. There are folks, GoP voters, who are waiting for an excuse to not vote for DJT in the primary and he continues to give them one.
I find Trump’s ‘authentic’ style amusing and breath of fresh air but I also like old school territorial wrestling promos for much the same reasons. He won’t lose my vote because of it but there are those who’s vote he will lose based on it. IMO, continuing an act that PO some otherwise getable voters is short sighted.
Some voters will always be turned off. As things progress, meaning fall apart in one thing after another, some voters may actually be turned on to someone authentic and telling things as they are, even if the truth of the matter is only realized well after the fact.
As long as the ‘authenticity’ doesn’t turn enough voters off to tip the election to the d/prog I could care less b/c I find it entertaining. Others do not and choosing to retain this ‘authentic’ style despite it being singled out as the reason those voters were turned off seems short sighted and egotistical. We find out in the primary and maybe the general how big a problem it is. Hope I am wrong.
Yes, we will find out. It’s simply the rough and tumble inside the big picture, and nothing to get bent over, like some do, with increasing hostility.
Chief, suppose Trump knew that there was not going to be an arrest on Tuesday and made the “Protest” comment to get even more attention than just the indictment and arrest. Turns out there was neither but who got a ton of publicity? This is what the man has done for twenty years! He plays the msm like a child’s flute.
Curious why it would be a good idea to hijack the weekend news cycle away from among a other things:
1. China and Russia closer cooperation
2. Rejected peace/ceasefire offer from Russia to Ukraine
3. The blown up banking system, a direct result of too much liquidity from Fed printing and Biden admin overspending
4. HoR oversight release of info re payoffs to Biden family
One might say that stealing the air from those stories helps Biden. Do you believe it was a good idea to do that given the context? Decisions don’t get made in a vacuum there are always consequences to each one, some + some -, some foreseeable some unforseen.
In this case to accept your argument that in essence this was ‘brilliant PR by Trump to gain media coverage’ we have to look at where that media attention was drawn away from. Seems like a bad long term tradeoff for short term benefit. Could even be called selfish by some observers.
Man! Authenticity? We can’t have that! No sir! We insist on having nothing but polymorphic weanies!
He’s about as authentic as a pair of Chinese made cowboy boots.
Speaking of weanies isn’t that the crux of the issue with the extortion payoff to Daniels?
He had a chance here to show that he is the bigger, better man. I thought he was going to do so.
But no, he goes with the cheap shot at Trump, seeming to acknowledge the unproven charges.
A missed opportunity. He’s not winning me over.
Way to pull things out of your dam ass.
First off the attacker in this is Trump the man investigating his wife, endorsing his defeated opponent, insulting him routinely, and who has his people calling for his impeachment.
Second the statement provided here is opposition to Trump being railroaded despite the fact that human emotion would dictate your wife and yourself are under attack so why bother?
What you call a swipe at Trump is just objective reality. Trump slept with a porn star, It isn’t the only adultery Trump committed.
Trump slept with a porn star. Did he? Shall I give you a list of all the things that Trump did (don’t do). Russia, Russia, Russia is now Porn, Porn, Porn.
DeSantis is the comprise candidate.
Kinda like taking the shot to keep the job even though I know that it does not work and may cause adverse reactions. Oh well, I did not take the shot and I have watched 3 people including a 13 year old boy not die from it.
I am tired of comprising.
DeSantis is racking up wins in Florida and taking the fight to the globalists’ throat (ESG, wokeness, covid vax passports, stopping China from buying Florida land near our military bases, and on and on). If he’s the “compromise” candidate, then wow. That’s a compromise I’m happy to consider.
Yes, he should stay in Florida. Finish the job for once.. We’ve been there before with these Rove groomed governors. They morph into something different once promoted to the White House.
LOL. You and that Rove lie; like a dog with a bone (except the dog’s bone is actually real and not a figment of his imagination). Too funny.
No one slept with anyone. The accusation is of a sexual encounter, of which there is no evidence.
Are you seriously disputing that Trump is a shameless adulterer?!
No reasonable person doubts that Daniels’s story is true. Pretending not to believe it just paints you as dishonest.
The issue is not whether he slept with her, nor whether he paid her, but whether a dishonest DA can manage to somehow twist that into a crime.
I find it interesting that the d/prog are upset with Trump for banging Playmates and porn stars but give Bill Clinton a pass for his choices in paramour; a few of whom claimed to be unwilling.
“”a few of whom claimed to be unwilling.””
The term is “raped”.
You forgot to add alleged in front of that word.
No, they claimed to have been raped. The “alleged” is included in “claimed”.
But no, he goes with the cheap shot at Trump…
Is it true Trump inferred DeSantis was a groomer on social media?
He implied it, very strongly.
Rabel(?) can you tell us what the “Cheap” shot was? Who porked Stormy? Who paid her off? Where is the cheap shot?
And speaking of a “cult of personality” someone seems to have found Jesus. He’s in Tallahassee.
Everything I have ever said about Trump agree or not is something I can back up.
I will bet anything you can’t back up what you just said insulting us.
I can justify my claim that there is a Trump personality cult that essentially worships Trump with this.
DailyWire revealed the story that Trump had asked the Speaker of the House for Georgia to overturn the election and award him Georgia’s electoral votes (a.k.a. steal the election).
Trump supporters insisted that was fine.
When I asked if Hillary had done the same thing to the PA governor in 2016 if that would have been ok with them they accused me of being never Trump neocon establishment bla bla bla instead of answering the question.
Now that is what personality cult looks like.
Name one thing you saw here that says personality cult for Ron DeSantis and it better look like a personality cult.
Ha Ha Ha, too funny.
DailyWire revealed the story that Trump had asked the Speaker of the House for Georgia to overturn the election and award him Georgia’s electoral votes (a.k.a. steal the election).
You mean the Grand Jury that has Emily Kohrs as the foreperson?
Great talking point that you are throwing out there, but there was more than enough cause for concern. I suggest you check out the footage of the Fulton County board of election certification and you would realize what a joke it was.
Most people I know that support Trump are for reasons beyond Trump and more towards Tea Party position. A group that Ryan and Mitch did everything the could to stop. Trump Cult personality is just another label to cancel the Conservative Tea Party. DeSantis is riding on coat tails, not wearing the coat.
DeSantis was Tea Party long before Trump saw an opportunity and (wisely) took it. While Trump was still backing Hillary Clinton and donating to Harry Reid, DeSantis was in the U.S. House of Representatives founding the Freedom Caucus (which, you must know, is essentially the Tea Party caucus).
That’s just not true
Here’s my exact same comment with links to source material.
Wow! Now THAT is a real honker! DeSantis? Tea Party? I don’t remember that. I remember DeSantis as a congressman who was supported globalists and voted for the TPA! I’ll bet if I dug into his congressional record I would find some other gems too.
And many of the founding Freedom Caucus members and later additions proved to be phonies just riding with a wind.
Since when was the Tea Party Movement against globalism? It had nothing to do with that, and no particular objection to it.
The Tea Party has always been for Constitutional control of the federal government. Globalism undermines that. Back in the Tea Party day, that was more or less a vague fear couched in terms of “blue helmets,” which you will find the Tea Party objected to with some vehemence.
it’s not a cult of personality. The cult of personality was for the disgusting JFK. I respect Trump because he’s the only one since Reagan to challenge the corrupt status quo, and because he’s endlessly innovative in his leadership. He should have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for the Abraham Accords.
M Poppins, you wrote: “He should have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for the Abraham Accords.”
I wasn’t talking about you, Danny.
It is customary to include the person to whom you are speaking. If you don’t, then the comment is seen as a more general comment. Either way, though, anyone can respond.
Trump wanted to invalidate the votes that what he believed were illegal [Illegal votes for various reasons, residency issues, etcetera] and to stop at the number needed to win Georgia. I was fine with that.
How about asking the House to simply reject the result, without first finding the evidence? Dannny’s question deserves an answer: If you would have been OK with that, how would you distinguish it from the PA legislature doing the same for Clinton in 2016?
Of course a valid answer would be that it would depend on the quality of the evidence. If the GA or PA legislature were convinced that the reported result for the state was invalid, then maybe it would be fine for it to replace the electors.
(I’m not convinced that it can even do that. The constitution doesn’t give the legislature the power to choose the electors; it only gives it the power to set the rules by which the electors are chosen. Once the legislature sets the rules, and it’s determined that the electors were chosen according to those rules, I see nothing authorizing the legislature to change its mind retroactively. But that’s a discussion for a different time.)
Trump paid the help money in order to help Stormy, and protect her reputation. He knew that she needed money and was getting bad legal advice from a felonious, now convicted, attorney. He also knew that he would be attacked in the press and so would she by association. So in a Christ-like, self sacrificing mode he protected this charming, young lady’s public persona. How is that a crime?
He’s a Saint
No doubt about it
Trump is not Saint and I do not want a Saint for President.
Wrong answer, Mark, you have to literally worship Trump to be in the Only Trump cult. He’s their LION, their LAMB, their SAINT. He takes their slings and arrows upon himself and absolves them of something or other. It’s pretty horrific for Americans to lionize, idolize, and sanctify a mere politician, but here we are.
no, you are the personification of the wrong answer, mired in the middlebrow schoolmarm mentality that resents innovation and challenges to the status quo.
Oh, I am all for challenges to the status quo. If they work. Trump failed on a number of fronts, including in draining the swamp. The person making a real challenge to the status quo right now is DeSantis (and a number of other GOP governors), so yeah, I’m paying attention to him. Who wouldn’t be given his amazing wins. I like winning. A lot. And it’s something we haven’t see Trump do since 2016. That’s a status quo I am happy to see upended.
There is mutual slobbering going on, and mutual tribal conflict.
Trump had plenty of wins since 2016, by the way. You acknowledged the Abraham Accords. Record lows in unemployment for blacks and hispanics. Beating the people working every day to resist and remove him from office. DeSantis has it made in the shade by comparison.
I agree that much of Trump’s record was stellar (and wrote many a post about his successes). Unfortunately, he dropped the ball on his primary promises (the wall, locking her up, and draining the swamp), and then, instead of listening to GOP governors, he stubbornly stuck with Fauci and Birx and abandoned his promise to open the country by Easter.
THAT was a huge failure because the continued lockdowns and hysteria provided the Democrats and their accomplices in the cabal to develop voting schemes (some of which were illegal, though his DOJ did nothing about it) that ultimately led to him losing (being cheated) in 2020. He’d be president today if he had stuck to opening by Easter. But he caved. It’s a shame, I would dearly love for him to be president right now and for the past two and next two years. But it is what it is.
Dropped the ball dealing with the unprecedented attempts to remove him from office. Considering, he carried the ball pretty well.
It was sarc… but he is the best President we have had since the civil war…
Kind of saintly wouldn’t you say?
Sorry, that is what Mark “Slash” Levin keeps pointing out. Trump was the most effective conservative president in his lifetime and maybe ever. Presenting truth with receipts is not allowed around here and if you keep doing that, we will release the hounds!
Howard, you just gave the best example of sarcasm I have seen in a while. Google this “Poor” helpless woman and you will all understand how Trump “Helped” her, several times.
The only thing wrong with that analysis is that the charming young lady doesn’t seem to have been on board with it at all.
“A recent Emerson survey had him ahead by 40 points in New Hampshire.”
Oh sure, if that is how you define “being ahead”. But is he really “ahead”? You can’t answer that one can you!
I had this off the wall thought, is this Bragg announcement a way to purge his office of non believers of his mindset?
Any assistant DA, staff lawyer or office staffer with any sense of decency, precedent and rule of law would know that this case is not worthy of pursuit, Your boss goes public with a plan, makes public statements that generates an in office revolt against the boss. How many would resign their positions only to be replaced by someone much more radical, who has bought into the cult of Bragg and what he represents.
What Bragg announcement?
The leaked stories that started this firestorm over the past few days that an indictment and arrest were forthcoming
First of all, leaks are the very opposite of an announcement.
Second, there was no leak, at least about Tuesday. Trump simply made that up.
If true, It could also be a loyalty test by Bragg, who is in total support of him and how are not in total support
The DeSantis fans are starting to look a lot like the Cruz fans did in 2016
This is actually a pretty astute observation. People who supported Cruz back then do seem to be the same ones supporting (or at least, as in my case, defending) DeSantis. And that seems true on Twitter and across the conservative sphere, as well. I wonder what that’s about?
I still hope that DeSantis stays in Florida, but if he declares, God please help him NOT make the same mistake Cruz did in latching on to a female (or ANY identity politics checkbox) VP pick. I still think that is what sank Cruz’s bid. Fiorina was horrible, and for Cruz to announce a VP pick before he even won the nomination . . . very bad form. And for it to be HER. Very poor choice indeed.
No. What sank Cruz’ bid was teaming up with Glenn Beck at the Mexican border handing out free soccer balls to illegals. Campaigning with his crazy dominionist father was also a big mistake. The next Moses? The 2nd coming of Christ? It also didn’t help that he was out here in LA begging for dirty money at the California Club. BTW, did DeSantis drop by the California Club on his recent visit?
Cruz just wasn’t and still isn’t presidential material. He needs to aim for SCOTUS judge.
He’d make a fine SCOTUS justice! Finally, we agree on something again, Phil!
Remember when Cruz and Rubio were trying comedy and it bombed? You can’t fake a sense of humor and when it fails, it really bombs. That is why DeSantis adopting a “shadow campaign” strategy is such a mistake. Classic Karl Rove.
Cruz has a wonderful sense of humor. It’s understated and rather cerebral at times, but it’s really quite delightful. He also has a lot of fun with more base humor through memes. You should check out his Twitter feed sometime. He’s great.
One of my favorites was when Trump made that horrible statement about Cruz’s father being a Castro agent and then made an unforgivable statement about Cruz’s wife having a mental breakdown. I realized then that there was a big divide between him and myself when it came to ethics and class. But like the guy who pumps out my septic tank every four years I don’t have a beer with him and do not want to know him as long as he gets the job done. But if he insulted me or my family he would be through in my life.
I drank many a beer and rode harleys with a local Honey Dipper
Great and funny guy, and knew every shit joke in the book
Unfortunately, brain cancer took him way too early
Hmm see what you did there Fuzzy
What? Agree with you? Yeah, that’s pretty darned . . . um, what? Please stop being weird. It’s off-putting.
Fuzzy, you’re too smart and well-informed to believe that Trump locked down the country or that he could have opened it back up by Easter. The President simply doesn’t have that authority.
Obviously, governors made their choices, but the federal government had the lead. Or do you doubt the power of the presidency or the role that Fauci and Birx played in keeping the lockdown guidelines in place? As long as the president was backing lockdowns, governors who wanted to do so, used it as an excuse to impose their tyranny. Had Trump said, hey, we’re opening back up by Easter, and that’s just the way it is. Then the blue state govs wouldn’t have had Fauci, Birx, and the CDC to hide behind. Surely, you aren’t so stupid that you don’t understand that?
“Surely, you aren’t so stupid that you don’t understand that?”
OK. I’m done here.
You said the same thing to me, Rabel, when you wrote: “Fuzzy, you’re too smart and well-informed to believe . . . . The President simply doesn’t have that authority.” My inverting your comment to me is such an insult? Whatever.
You know very well that Trump cultists don’t hold themselves to the same standards that they hold others…. Hmmm, that reminds me of leftists. I wonder why…….
DeSantis states the obvious, but what’s his solution?
Good question. What is his solution? We already know what Trump’s is: PROTEST PROTEST PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK. Seems unlikely to work, but at least he’s offering a solution. I bet that DeSantis is just doing stupid stuff like examining the law, consulting with advisors, and figuring out what actual steps can be taken to rein in corruption. That freak!
You said, in this very thread: “It’s pretty horrific for Americans to lionize, idolize, and sanctify a mere politician, but here we are.”
Aren’t you doing exactly that?
It’s only “they” that do it, you know, the ones that are part of the “cult.” Nothing of the sort by others. Perhaps you might look more closely at your utterances.
A 74 million member cult. I think we need a dictionary here.
Cult” in Modern English, cult is a term for relatively small group that excessively controls its members, whom share set of acts and practices which require unwavering devotion, and are considered deviant (outside the norms of society), and typically led by a charismatic and often self-appointed leader.
Relatively small, Excessive control over members. Outside the norms of society. Self=appointed leader. Yep. Sounds like us. To an illiterate.
Trump won 74 million votes. That does not mean those voters are Only Trumpers. Not by a very very long shot.
Pro-Trump protest currently in progress in Lower Manhattan:
Warning; extreme violence not seen since the Tea Party reign of terror!
Did Ray Epps and Fed Bois make an appearance yet or maybe that comes later with geo fencing data?
This comment is to Fuzzy, but I can’t remember where it goes. I watched every single press conference during the whole Covid debacle. Trump did NOT want to close down the country. Knowing that he is not a scientist and in my opinion, probably relying on Pence’s opinion of Fauci and Birx, he shut us down after the bogus British model showed millions dying from Covid. He said it multiple times that millions would die, and he said it with concern. He did NOT want Americans to die. I doubt you will ever hear him admit he was wrong in keeping Fauci and Birx. Had he been reelected, who knows what would have happened; it is all speculative. In my opinion, one of the reasons he pushed so hard for the vaccine was because he was told it could not be done. Again, having watched every single press conference, the reporters scoffed that a vaccine was imminent. He was wrong about the vaccine, in my opinion. I never got one. He never forced anyone to take it. He never forced anyone to protest on January 6. And he is not forcing anyone to protest his potential arrest. The Biden Administration has forced its will on us. My vote is for Trump in primary. If he loses DeSantis for the general. No one else is in true contention.
Interesting… Bill O’Reilly is on the radio now and had dinner with Trump last week. O’Reilly proposed a Trump/DeSantis ticket. Trump did not answer. Interesting …
I don’t see that happening. Both are alpha males, and both have executive experience. I don’t see DeSantis leaving the top spot in Florida to attend state funerals and ribbon cuttings. Do you?
DeSantis is positioning himself to run.
Interesting piece. DeSantis comes off well.
