Philadelphia Schools Requiring Masks 10 Days After Winter Break

No words.

The School District of Philadelphia will require people to wear masks for 10 days after everyone returns from winter break.

From NBC Philadelphia:

The School District of Philadelphia announced Wednesday that starting Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, students and staff once again must wear face masks in classrooms, citing potential exposure to COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses over the holiday break. Face masks will be required through the second week of the new year.

“In an effort to be proactive in supporting healthy environments and maintaining in-person learning following students and staff returning from winter break, the District will implement mandatory masking from January 3 through January 13, 2023,” the district said in a news release.

The district’s COVID-19 Protocols left open the possibility of requiring masking out of holiday breaks. Mask wearing will be required at all times on campus in Pennsylvania’s largest school district.

“This is a proactive measure to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses in school, reduce absenteeism and prioritize in-person learning after the winter break,” the district said.

The Washington Free Beacon mentioned that the announcement came out a week after an assessment revealed the horrid impact of lockdowns on education.

From the Pennsylvania Capital-Star:

The decline on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment, or PSSA, was more pronounced in math, where approximately 16.2% of students in grades 3-8 scored proficient or better on the exams administered in the spring of 2022; in 2019, 21.6% of students scored proficient or better. In English Language Arts, 34.7% of students in those grades were proficient or better this year, down slightly from 35.7 percent in 2019.

Those drops highlight the pandemic’s disruptions to students and schools since early 2020; schools in Philadelphia did not fully reopen for in-person instruction until the 2021-22 school year. The scores also show how hard it will be for Philadelphia to meet the targets it set for the past school year, and for the next several years.

More “covid” theater for the masses. Trying to rekindle the fear.

Hypochondriac Covid Karens being catered to by weak officials who should tell them no and members of the community who are allowing this to occur without consequences. There is zero evidentiary basis to support this policy. In fact there is plenty of data demonstrating that this policy will not meet it’s stated purpose of reducing transmission. Instead it will inflict real harms, physically, emotionally and in terms of learning loss and decreased socialization for no appreciable benefits whatsoever.

Teenagers and younger are at virtually zero risk from covid, so the masking doesn’t do anything to protect them. There is also no evidence of asymptomatic transmission of covid, so masking does nothing to protect their teachers.

The masking isn’t effective in preventing transmission of a virus in any case, so using an ineffective technique to stop a virus in order to protect a demographic that is at no risk from the virus seems to make it a perfect way for an authoritarian system to tighten control.

Philadelphia public schools are atrocious.

An estimated 85% of children under the age of 15 have already had covid. There is no chance of serious contagion. This is more teacher’s union nonsense.

How long do you think this will last? The two weeks to ‘slow the spread last over 2 years.

How long do you think it’ll be before other Democrat controlled cities will adopt this ‘temporary’ masking?

I thank God that ParentsUnitedRI vs. Gov. Dan Mckee is still in effect blocking any masking of school children.

Makes sense if masks are bullet proof.

Just like cops get the “Blue Flu”, right after the holidays might be a good time for ALL the students to get “sick” for that 10 days.

Don’t like it? Write your senator..

This would make winter break ten days longer for my kids, I don’t allow them to be muzzled.

How much of this child abuse will parents put up with before removing their children from the government schools? And voting as a “single issue” for candidates who support school choice.

Philly has schools?
