Joe Rogan Thinks the Possible Midterm Red Wave ‘is Going to be Like the Elevator Doors in ‘The Shining'”

Joe Rogan seems to think there really will be a red wave in the midterms next week. During a recent episode of his podcast, he suggested that the red wave is going to resemble the iconic ‘elevator scene’ in the 1980 horror film ‘The Shining.’

If you’ve ever seen the movie, you know that it’s a vivid mental picture.

FOX News reports:

Joe Rogan predicts Republican red wave in 2022 midterms: ‘Like the elevator doors opening up in The Shining’Popular podcast host and UFC commentator Joe Rogan predicted massive success for the Republican Party in the 2022 midterm elections. His comments came during an episode of the “Joe Rogan Experience” that was released Saturday and featured a conversation with comedian Bridget Phetasy.”The red wave that’s coming is going to be like the elevator doors in ‘The Shining’,” Rogan said, citing the 1980 horror movie based on a Stephen King novel.”That’s what I think. I think people are just like ‘what the f**k are you saying?’” he continued.”They’re making Republicans,” he said.”I don’t know how they’re doing it,” Phetasy responded. “I had a family member who is a boomer and a die hard liberal, and they told me when I was home this summer that they would vote for DeSantis,” she continued.”And I’m like, how did you lose this person? How did you lose this person? This is a like go to the ballot and vote blue no matter what and you’ve lost even the boomers,” she said.

This is funny to me because we just did a post about favorite horror movies for Halloween and The Shining was at the top of my list. For anyone who hasn’t seen it, this is what Rogan is referring to:

Democrat pollster Doug Schoen seems to agree. He writes at The Hill:

How the impending red wave could become a tsunamiThe Republican Party’s midterm prospects have markedly improved over the last several weeks. But will 2022 be a red wave election year on par with GOP victories in 1994 and 2010?The warning signs are clearly flashing for the Democratic Party. Recent polling finds that support for Republicans — both generically and in individual races — has increased substantially amid heightened national concerns about the economy and crime, two issues that the GOP leads on. Meanwhile, protecting abortion rights, the crux of the Democratic agenda has become a much less salient issue.Based on current trends, Republicans will likely gain between 30 to 35 House seats, and come away with a one or two-seat advantage in the Senate. This outcome would flip both chambers of Congress to GOP control, but wouldn’t necessarily rise to 1994 or 2010 levels, when Democrats lost 53 and 63 House seats, respectively.

We’ll find out in about a week.
