Sanctuary New York City Mayor Declares Emergency Over Migrants Taking Sanctuary In NYC

“Thousands of asylum seekers have been bused into New York City … and more are arriving every day. This crisis is not of our own making… We have not asked for this. There was never any agreement to take on the job of supporting thousands of asylum seekers….”

New York City proudly is a Sanctuary City, and the proudest of all was recently elected Mayor Eric Adams, who declared when running for Mayor:

“We should protect our immigrants.” Period.

Yes, New York City will remain a sanctuary city under an Adams administration. #EricOnNBC

That was then. THIS IS NOW.

Mayor Eric Adams declared a state of emergency on Friday as the number of people in New York City’s overwhelmed homeless shelters headed for a record amid the influx of thousands of migrants from Latin America.

He called for state and federal funding to help pay for housing and services, and urged the federal government to allow newly arrived asylum seekers to work legally and to slow the northward flow of migrants from the border. He spoke as the population of the city’s main shelter system, which stood at 61,379 on Thursday, was set to break the record of 61,415 set in 2019. At least nine more migrant buses arrived on Friday.

Mr. Adams said that the migrants were on pace to send the shelter population soaring above 100,000 and that the influx could cost the city $1 billion in the current fiscal year alone.

“We need help, and we need it now,” Mr. Adams said in a speech.

Who is to blame? Not the Biden adminstration, which violating its constitutional duty to faithfully execute the immigration laws (should be Count 1 in Biden Articles of Impeachment, IMO). No, according to the Mayor, it’s that sneaky Greg Abbott:

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) declared a state of emergency on Friday to respond to migrants arriving in the city on buses primarily from Texas.

Why it matters: Adams said at least 17,000 asylum seekers have been bused to New York City from other parts of the country since April and claimed that many of the people didn’t know where they were going when they boarded the buses.

Full presser (transcript):

… Thousands of asylum seekers have been bused into New York City and simply dropped off without notice, coordination or care and more are arriving every day. This crisis is not of our own making, but one that will affect everyone in this city, now and in the months ahead….

We have not asked for this. There was never any agreement to take on the job of supporting thousands of asylum seekers. This responsibility was simply handed to us without warning as buses began showing up. There’s no playbook for this, no precedent….

The time for aid to New York is now. We need help from the federal government, help from the state of New York. New York City is doing our part and now others must step up and join us. From our federal partners we need legislation that will allow these asylum seekers to legally work now, not in six months. We need a realistic decompression strategy at the border that will slow the outflow of asylum seekers. We need a coordinated effort to move asylum seekers to other cities in this country to ensure everyone is doing their part. Congress must pass emergency financial relief for our city and others.

The Honey Badger don’t give a ….

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott defiantly declared Friday that he will continue to ship migrants from the southern border to the Big Apple — as Mayor Eric Adams issued a state of emergency over the flood of asylum-seekers.

“Sanctuary cities like New York City experience a FRACTION of what Texas border communities face every day,” Abbott seethed on Twitter. “We’ll continue busing migrants to NYC, DC, & Chicago to relieve our overwhelmed border towns until [President] Biden does his job to secure the border.”

“This is Unsustainable” When I hear lefty NYC Mayor Eric Adams say that, his version of saying Uncle, then it’s time to pour it on, really pour it on. Send 20, 30, 50 buses a day.

Pedal to the Metal time. Crank it up to 11.

Make ’em live up to their lofty, lefty talk. It’s one of their Rules for Radicals.

“This crisis is not of our own making, but one that will affect everyone in this city, now and in the months ahead.”

This crisis is most certainly of your own making. This is STRAIGHT-UP DEMOCRAT POLICY.

1) New York made thenselves a sancturary city and now must cough up whatever it takes to meet their obligations.

2) They have a long way to go in terms of their illegal carrying capacity.

3) No bailouts, they must pay their own way.

Everybody Get Outta Here, There’s A Lobster Loose! Oh, Holy Cow, He’s Loose!

I’m waiting for one of these goofball, virtue-signaling mayors to say, “We are no longer a Sanctuary City.”

Waiting, waiting, waiting…

Late-term? From conception to “burden” in four trimesters.

I wonder when they will realize stolen elections have consequences and they’re sorry they did it. Now we see what they did and are capable of; their lunacy in installing Xiden

“We have not asked for this. There was never any agreement to take on the job of supporting thousands of asylum seekers.”

What — you think we did, you fucking hypocrite?

Virtue signaling and demanding more federal money from Democrats. See my shocked face.

Every virtue signaling “sanctuary” city, county and state should get 10 buses a day. Except for San Fran and LA. Sending illegals there would be cruel and unusual punishment although that might get them to go home voluntarily

What you are describing is exactly what happens in LA. The vast majority of the homeless and illegals come from out of state, mostly the open border states of Texas, Arizona and New Mexico, When we were a red state fighting illegal immigration, the rest of the country told us we deserved it because we were bigots. The Republicans even sent the Bush/Cheney boys to usurp the CA State GOP Committee to gut border control, defense of marriage, tax control and other conservative planks from the standard GOP platform that was reliable for getting Republicans AND Democrats elected for decades. That’s how we got Arnold who, in 2008 became the last Republican elected to a statewide position. The year 2012 marked the first time sine 1932 that no Republican held a statewide position.

I have no love for CA anymore and will be leaving but every time I hear idiots like you virtue signaling Republicans lecturing us, I just want to strangle you hypocrites. Where were you when it counted? Americans don’t hate CA because it is liberal. Americans hate CA period!!!

Thanks for the help! Now how do YOU like it?!?! Not up for the fight? People like you have been a key reason why CA lost the fight. Now go eat shit!

Yeah, well, the neocon wing of the RINO party is busy trying to do the same thing in Arizona right now, attacking Lake and Blake. The difference is, we’re telling them to butt out and sending them packing. Same as we did to the NRA when they tried to swoop in and sandbag our constitutional carry movement. Arizona Republicans had enough of the McCain Mafia, and we’re flushing the remnants of it out of power as fast as we can.

Where was I when it counted? Working to save my own state of residence, like the system is set up to do. I wasn’t asking California (or even Idaho) for help.

On behalf of Texan-Americans, allow me to state HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

“It’s like when you take a hammer and keep hitting yourself in the head with it over and over again and it hurts like hell? I HATE when that happens!”

Stuff like this wouldn’t be happening under Sliwa.

The recent immigration follies as MV, DC, NYC and Chicago experience ever so slightly what border communities and some rural areas have been dealing with for decades is comedy gold. The d/prog Mayors of deep blue enclaves complaints would be easier to accept had they made them earlier. These folks and their supporters stood silent when the consequences were borne by distant communities in red States. Only now, as the border State and community leaders employ innovative strategies to highlight the problems do they speak out.

In fairness to Adams he has spoken to the multifaceted set of issues created. Housing, feeding, clothing, translation services, schooling among others are additional direct costs borne by communities where illegal immigrants are present. The federal govt neglects its duty to secure the border and lays most of the burden for supporting these folks on areas distant from the National media markets of DC and NYC. Adams has spoken out to demand the Federal govt meet the moral obligation they have to at least provide direct funding to mitigate the result of their policy failure.

The powers that be are now directly confronted with the challenges faced by border communities for decades and even a fraction of the burden is seemingly intolerable. All for the price of a several dozen chartered buses sent into the heart of the areas where these policy failures originated. Realistically, the cumulative number shipped is less than one month’s total who were allowed entry under the Biden regime. That number will grow with or without the border area involvement; the border communities are well past the saturation point and their capacity to continue providing support on their own.

So I guess as far as Mayor Adams is concerned, mi casa es su casa is on hold for a while?

Say it, Mayor Adam’s: “Joe Biden needs to enforce immigration law and needs to seal the border.” Just say it.

The humor. the irony, the hypocrisy is truly in your face… I was struck by the slogan “Get Stuff Done” . I though it was so stupid that it had been shopped into the image… My bad.. it is an entire campaign for NYC… with a logo and everything.

https://www1.nyc.gov/content/getstuffdone/pages/

It just keep getting more and more clownish.

The “one” is silent. The slogan is, “get stuffd “.

Peabody in reply to amwick. | October 8, 2022 at 1:38 pm

Yesterday when the Postman rode by, he didn’t take my letter. Then suddenly he turned back, swooped down low on his horse and assured me, “President Starkey says stuff is getting better. Stuff is getting better every day.”

henrybowman in reply to amwick. | October 8, 2022 at 5:16 pm

Their next slogan had better be:

    Get Our Shit Together
    nyc.gov/ohshit

Funny how all these racist mayors happen to be black…

I love a big plate of shadenfreude with a single malt….

If a rich city like New York can’t afford to support less than their fair share of illegals, what city can?

Funny how all these racist mayors happen to be black…

“We have not asked for this. There was never any agreement to take on the job of supporting thousands of asylum seekers.”

Well no shit Sherlock. Neither did the rest of us.

“This is unsustainable”

Then pick up the phone, call Biden, tell him the game is over and to shut the damned border.

BierceAmbrose | October 9, 2022 at 11:18 pm

“This crisis is not of our own making… ”

Wrong, it’s entirely of your making.

“We have not asked for this.”

Well, right. (Don’t be scared Your Honor — people are right sometimes.) You have not asked for this. You demanded this. Insisted upon this. Stifled and stymied every attempt at something other than this.

You know, if we’re gonna have a national border crossing program, maybe it ought to distribute people who cross the border across the country, evenly by population. I think NYC is a bit behind its quota on this.

Why do people keep voting for these idiots and their idiotic policies? “We didn’t ask for this” he says. “We are a sanctuary city” he said. Which is it? Either you’re a sanctuary city which means you did ask for it or you’re not.
Suck it up buttercup. You can’t have it both ways.

Sanctuary Democrats declare emergency over carbon-based Fetal/Human-Babies taking sanctuary, with the implied (there is no mystery in sex and conception) consent of first choice (i.e. sex), in their mother’s womb.
