$5 Gas in 2020? Biden Delivers Another Lie-Filled Speech as He Tries to Hype Up NY Democrats
Joe Concha: “The audacity is truly something to behold as fact-checkers continue their 22-month Spring Break.”
President Joe Biden probably told his biggest lie in Syracuse, NY, today as he campaigned for Gov. Kathy Hochul and other New York Democrats.
You guys. Did you know gas averaged $5 a gallon when Biden took office? I didn’t:
BIDEN: “Today, the most common price of gas in America is $3.39, down from over $5 when I took office. We need to keep making that progress by having energy companies bring down the cost of a gallon of gas that reflects the cost they’re paying for a barrel of oil.”
Joe Biden says gas was "over $5" when he took office.
He's lying — again. The average price for gas was $2.39/gallon when Biden took office. pic.twitter.com/lpSz1DsAOy

FACT CHECK: In 2020, gas prices averaged $2.17 a gallon. Man, that was painful to type out because I paid over $3.50 a gallon the other day.
In 2021? America’s average gas price was $3.01 a gallon.
In October 2022? The average is $3.803.
Then Biden has the nerve to brag about the GDP numbers released today. Yeah, it’s not shiny and rosy as he believes:
BIDEN: “Today, the GDP results came out, and the economy, in fact, is growing. In fact, the economy grew at 2.6 percent rate last quarter. And although it may not feel like for everyone, people’s incomes went up last quarter more than inflation went up, an enough growth. (applause) So, economic growth is up, the price of inflation is down, real incomes are on — are up, and the price of gas is down. Folks continue to spend, but now at a more stable pace than during our rapid recovery last year. Businesses continue to invest in America. Exports are up, which means we’re making things here in America and shipping the products overseas instead of shipping jobs overseas and sending them back here.”
BIDEN: "the price of inflation is down, real incomes are up, and the price of gas is down."
Inflation at is 8.2%, up from 1.4% when Biden took office.
Real income is lower than when Biden took office.
Gas prices are $3.76 a gallon today, up from $2.39 when Biden took office. pic.twitter.com/wSaraRMIGp

Inflation when taking office: 1.4%; Now: 8.3%; Wages not keeping up with inflation; Price of gas when taking office: $2.39, currently $3.84. The audacity is truly something to behold as fact-checkers continue their 22-month Spring Break. https://t.co/lhb6w0lWv4

The GDP report is more than one number. No, consumer spending slowed down. Plus, economists aren’t all that thrilled with the 2.6% GDP number:
“The overall state of the economy is deteriorating and a lot of it is just the weight of elevated inflation and higher interest rates,” said Richard F. Moody, chief economist at Regions Financial Corp. “I don’t think that we’ve seen the full effects of higher rates work their way through the economy, so that’s why we have pretty low expectations for the next several quarters.”
That’s saying a lot since the holidays are around the corner.
Usually personal spending drives the GDP. Net exports helped push this report to 2.6%.

Syracuse native, here.
Locally we have had some good economic news in the past year, Amazon opening up a distribution center here and now company building a chip manufacturing plant brought some badly needed jobs. That last bit is why Biden came imho, photo op to take credit for something he wasn’t associated with.
Hogel is in deep sh@t, she should be double digits in the lead, but she’s smeared with association because she was lt gov to corrupt cuomo gov, she supported full Covid panic shutdown, cuomo s policies which made Covid worse, and still supports cashless bail for violent perps.
I’m not sure associating with bidens coattails is gonna help with any of that.
Many locals are upset with an extra $20 to fill up your tank, other inflation we’re assured doesn’t exist/is temporary/is not that bad, incredibly ham fisted diplomacy (for those who care about that), and flat out being lied to.
My elder sis died in a nursing home days after being kicked out of the hospital – because of coverage limits – arguably there in the first place because of isolation caused substandard care, resulting injury, and substandard rehab. No one’s mother or sister should die in a bed surrounded by strangers and not allowed relatives to visit and see what’s going on with them.
Everyone who’s lost a relative directly or indirectly via Covid (bossman lost his dad when he fell and hit his head but didn’t want to see a doc because scared of Covid) is happy with current policy and wants some change.
Unhappy.
Biden is truly the Constanza President:
“It’s not a lie if you believe it.”
Or if you’re insane.
No, he’s just a liar. Always has been. Always will be.
Yes. He’s always been a liar. He has been practicing for years and has honed it down to a fine art.
Lately, he’s been having trouble lying and has had to read his lies off cards and teleprompters. He will soon start using Fetterman’s advanced captioning technology system that works so flawlessly in debates.
“Speghettios were $6 a can when I came into office!”
Lying Joe Biden.
I believe George Costanza was also a relative success when he effectively resisted his instincts and did the complete opposite of what he would normally do.
Food for thought for Biden. Hide it in his ice cream.
Hide it in his ice cream.
I don’t think there’s room for it, since that’s probably how they’re administering his drugs.
Those Aricept sprinkles don’t seem to be working anymore
I never thought Bill Clinton could be topped as a piece of sh-t — until Barack Obama.
I never thought Baracc, Obama could be topped as a piece of sh-t — until Joe Biden.
We’ve hit rock-bottom.
Hold my mic…
Seriously! Look at the young socialists coming up through the contrived ranks! The fraud Squad comes to mind. The left thinks these are real, thinking patriots!!
Mental disease indeed!
Don’t say things like that — the Democrats will take it as a challenge!
Obama was worse, he manufactured most of his own policies and lies. Biden produces more, but needs staff to do most of the heavy lifting.
Ummm, no. 0bama did not manufacture his own policies. He was simply better at reading and regurgitating his briefing books. That man was not in charge of his administration.
I wonder how much money you could raise to pay down the federal debt if you sold raffle tickets to punch that daft, lying cunt in his lying mouth.
You have to willfully want to be lied to in order to believe this.
Unfortunately, being a Dim Dem is a thing on that side of the aisle.
I watch diesel prices more closely, because in addition to a dinky EV (bought at a 70% discount, purely out of curiosity, I being the only EV owner in America with an NRA Life Member decal on the back window) I own a Ram 3500, a one-ton crew cab pickup with an 8-foot bed.
When the Evil Trump was in office, diesel bottomed at $1.97/gallon where we live. Just before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, diesel was $4.30. Today, I paid $5.70. Senile Joe has blamed it all on Putin. “What horseshit” is the mildest thing I can say.
Oh, and the other day I paid $8/lb for cube steak. Any cooks out there?
3500 crew cab, 8-ft bed owner here, too. Diesel here runs about $5.80/gal or so. Regular unleaded gasoline is about $4.40.
But if you’re watching the economy, diesel is the number you pay attention to. Like it or not (and for Dems and enviro-weenies, it’s definitely a “not”), the whole system runs on it.
Anything you want to buy has to get transported and delivered somehow. Ergo the cost of everything is directly and indirectly affected by the price of a gallon of diesel.
Everything moves on Diesel. I bought my first when Diesel fuel was cheaper than regular. Then, the government, in its infinite wisdom, decided to tax Diesel to the point it fell between regular and midgrade gas. It was a secret tax on every item you purchased, because Diesel moves the country.
Now, at $5.00+, it is just punitive. And economy killing.
That’s why the Dem socialists love it. Secret taxes, secret police, secret policies etc.
Exactly. I was explaining to my teenager, very little is produced locally anymore (locally enough that it’s transported by gas-powered box truck). The vast majority of everything sold is shipped further or in greater quantities than that, which means some combination of container ship, freight train, and/or 18-wheeler.
Not one of which runs on electricity or regular unleaded.
Touting the sub-$4 price of gasoline is a distraction when transport and delivery costs are based on diesel. And the extra (excess?) taxes specifically on diesel are a hidden sales tax on everything; you know the fuel companies, the transport/shipping companies, and the retailers aren’t going to just eat that expense! Not when they can pass it on to the next guy, and eventually the consumer!
So yay, gas prices are lower. You can now afford to drive your car to the store.
But you still can’t afford to buy anything there.
Elections have consequences.
I didn’t know he was elected – Oh! you mean those people with pre-printed ballots stuffing them in mail boxes
Then, yeah; I guess he was elected
Selected, as they once portrayed W….
Election
s havetheft has consequencesCredit to Snopes – they are actually on top of this.
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/biden-gas-prices-over-5-dollars/
Red letter day — the lies are now so in-your-face that even Snopes can no longer spin them.
I’ll go with broken clock. Or lies so egregious that it is pointless and self destructive (as a self appointed “fact checker”) that they cannot be denied.
Where are those Trumpian “lie counts” that the left was so fond of??
Pollutifact had the gonads to actually recently write, that no matter how hard they looked, they couldn’t find a single thing that Biden has said that was untrue
He lives in his own dream world
The GNP numbers were inflationary. All of the increase was due to exports which were event driven. And how much of that was due to military equipment to Ukraine? Inventories were up due to replenishment after the fire sale that went on during the summer to clear out the glut. CAPEX is down. And earnings being reported by the biggest tech companies this week were awful. Among other things.
Nothing to see here! Please disperse!
Despite terrible earnings reports by the big tech companies the S&P 500 was up big today, and up over 10% in the last 2-3 weeks. I don’t understand it, the stock market exuberance is totally disconnected from what’s being reported about the economy.
This sort of stuff is part of the reason d/prog are getting rejected. They set policies in place that led to our cur current predicament and now tell us the predicament doesn’t exist.
C’mon, man!! It was President Trump’s fault!! ..said the knee jerk leftist.
Things are so bad they’re looking into importing silver linings from China
But beware, they’re only silver-painted melamine.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Joe needed to be placed in a nursing home, not the White House. That’s just embarrassing for our country that he continues to make gaffes like this practically every time he opens his mouth.
I thought people were supposed to be drawn and quartered if they ever did MISINFORMATION, the dirtiest deed in the history of dirty-deed doing!. Why isn’t he swinging from a lamp post right about now?
That only applies to left-alleged “misinformation” as deemed by our socialist overlords.
Yeah, Plus, this is mis/disinformation that was uttered to effect an upcoming election! By the FBI’s own rules, they should be all over this like Joe on a nine-year-old!
This administration and this president lie on a daily and serial basis
I’d like to know if those “net export” figures are purely a result of our selling our oil reserves to China, et al?
I suspect Biden is a sociopath. So he lies freely and feels no guilt. I would guess that he’s one of those people who could pass a lie detector test without a problem even in cases where he is lying through his teeth.
By carefully saying “the most common price,” they are using the mode rather than the mean or even median to describe what most will assume is the average price. Not all measures of central tendency are created equal.
Gas here in se Pa is pretty much back to $4, diesel in $5.60s
Here in the Willamette Valley in Oregon, gas is about $4.40, diesel about $5.80 without a PUC card (about $5.40 with). Oregon taxes fuel pretty heavily, but even so we’re usually not more than 10-20 cents over the national average.
I heard “Brandon” talk and thought, “Where the hell are you finding gas for $3.80!?”
When Dopey Joey raised his right hand and perjured himself in Jan I bought diesel fuel in my workvan for $1.89 gallon, all road taxes included. Last week I had to pay $5.99 and had to waste some fuel to find it that cheap. TRIPPLED in TWO YEARS. I’d like to waste six bucks on a gallon of diesel fuel and pour it over his balding head, down onto his sluming shoulders, and all the way down to fill up his loafers.
Then hold out my hand and demand he give me the six bucks I just spent to annoint him king
