President Biden announced Wednesday that he will cancel $10,000 of federal student loan debt for certain borrowers making less than $125,000 per year, and up to $20,000 for Pell Grant recipients. The president also extended the pause on federal student loan monthly payments through Dec. 31, 2022. The COVID payment pause was set to expire at the end of the month.”In keeping with my campaign promise, my Administration is announcing a plan to give working and middle class families breathing room as they prepare to resume federal student loan payments in January 2023,” Biden tweeted. “I’ll have more details this afternoon.”
