Pregnancy Clinic Director Tells Congress the Center had to Hire Security, Install Bullet-Proof Walls Due to Attacks

“Just last week… a man approached our care center with an armed machete.”

I wrote about the gross statements from pro-infanticide witnesses at a hearing in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The committee also heard from Heidi Matzke, director of the Alternatives Pregnancy Center in California. The clinic has come under attack after Politico published a leaked opinion from Justice Alito overturning Roe v. Wade.

The attacks increased after SCOTUS officially overturned Roe. The left and radicals, including President Joe Biden, encouraged people to keep protesting.

From Fox News:

“Pregnancy care centers from coast to coast are being targeted for violent assaults of vandalism, and hateful attacks online and in the media,” Heidi Matzke, the director of the Alternatives Pregnancy Center in California, said Tuesday during the hearing. “Just last week… a man approached our care center with an armed machete.”

“We have been forced to hire 24-hour on site security. We have had to reinforce doors and bullet-proof our walls,” Matzke continued. “We’ve had to paint our building with anti-graffiti coating. We’ve added cameras, armed our staff with pepper spray and stopped running our mobile clinic because of threats of violence.”

She added: “The amount of money that we’ve had to spend so we can protect ourselves just so we can offer free services to women is unbelievable.”

Unlike (un)Planned Parenthood these pregnancy centers help women during and after their pregnancies. The centers provide most, if not all, medical services needed for the woman and baby during the pregnancy. The centers also guide and support the woman through the adoption process if she decides not to keep her baby. But if she decides to keep her baby the center will help her and the baby after birth.

Here’s more:

So it grieves me that since the Supreme Court announced its Dobbs decision, a great deal of misinformation has been spread about who we are and what we do, so let me share with you some of the facts. Our clinic is one of nearly 3,000 pregnancy care centers serving women across America. Each year, hundreds of thousands come to our clinics looking for free medical care, emotional support and practical resources, that will enable them to carry their pregnancies to term.

Our clinic alone in Sacramento provides over $1 million of free medical services each year to women who come to us. We charge them nothing. That means we never financially benefit from any choice a woman makes. We make no profit of any kind off the women who turn to us for help. We offer pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, pre-natal visits up to 24 weeks, well-woman visits.

We test for sexually transmitted diseases. We offer abortion pill reversal services, abortion recovery counseling, and parenting classes, and if finances are a problem, we have diapers, wipes, baby formula, baby food, baby clothing, baby supplies, and if a woman needs a hotel room, we provide that as well. We pay for all of that.

It doesn’t matter who she is, where she comes from, or what her past is. At our center, all medical services are provided by a staff of licensed medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, and medical assistants.

They are deeply compassionate people, because most of them have experienced abortion for themselves. Our OB/GYN doctor was an abortionist. When a woman comes in so afraid of what an unplanned pregnancy might mean for her life, her ambitions, her relationships, we do not urge her to make any decision.

We listen. We try to hear her heart. We offer professional services and emotional support. Whether she chooses parenting, adoption, or abortion, we continue to be there for her for years if necessary. Many women choose abortion, because they lack the resources and support they need to confidently choose to parent.

“We offer abortion pill reversal services”
Well, now I’m going to have to google that…

    Type in “stomach pump.” 😉

If you took the first half of RU-486 (mifepristone) and regret it, a large dose of progesterone is thought to make you more likely to keep the baby. Mifepristone acts by blocking progesterone, so you’re trying to flood your system with more progesterone than the chemicals already in your system can block.

The process is a two stage, two pill process. Don’t recollect the time required between the first and second pills, but there is a break in time. Some women (I haven’t a clue how many) decide after one and before two that they made a mistake. There is a drug/are drugs which can reverse the effect of the first pill. IDK that there is anything to be done after the second pill.

I (kinda) get being upset at the Roe overturn, but how does that translate into attacking/harassing places like this? Those poor women need and receive real help through pregnancy and even after birth. You’d have to be a psychopath to attack that.

I think your last sentence answers itself.

They believe no actual services are provided and it is a scam by the evil religious right. No amount of facts will sway them from this belief. And yes. In my opinion they are mentally ill in some form.

They’re only pro choice when that choice is to murder a baby.

Excellent point. When they deny women who choose life these services (by terrorist tactics at that) ‘Pro-Choice’ is exposed as a big fat lie.

If the media, politicians of a certain party and assorted others didn’t lie about overturning Roe, claiming it means the end of abortion in the US, this might be far less a problem.

Sniff test says ‘Smells like Jussie Smollett’.

… and looks a bit like Christine Blasey Ford.

Use of a phrase like “armed machete” has me saying h’mmm.

Pretty sure you are unable to sniff anything over the sulfur fumes that no doubt constantly swirl around you…

      What are you smoking?

Broad-brush statements should be accompanied by receipts which in her statements are conspicuously absent. Bullet proofed walls? Reinforced doors? Anti-graffiti paint jobs? How many clinics out of 3000 required such modifications? How is it that a “violent assault” is made out of a man “approaching” with a machete … if there was an actual assault, where’s the police report? If the walls were indeed bullet-proofed, where are the police reports for shootings?

The sniff test metaphor was simply to say some of her statement is hoax worthy. At the very least, she’s being melodramatic / exaggerating. I hate the lies of the left. I hate it when our side does the same. If we were to dig in and demand receipts, I’m quite sure we’d find most of what she is fortifying against was threats made on social media, not reportable actual attacks and vandalism.

“How many clinics out of 3000 required such modifications? ”

What part of the English language is giving you such heartburn. I realize that in today’s US plural pronouns are used as singular, but I the lady wasn’t using an “imperial We” or “our” when all the things cited were singular (our building, our staff, our mobile…).

Absent personal knowledge of that lady and that clinic, you are making assumptions based on your personal bias. And I’ll bet the proverbial dollar to a donut that you have neither met the woman nor been in that clinic.

Good grief. What a pair of dopes – you and cantplaytheblues.

          The article reads:

“Pregnancy care centers from coast to coast are being targeted for violent assaults of vandalism, and hateful attacks online and in the media,” Heidi Matzke, the director of the Alternatives Pregnancy Center in California, said Tuesday during the hearing. “Just last week… a man approached our care center with an armed machete.”

Opening sentence implies many attacks nationwide … her proof in the next sentence is “a man approached … with a machete”.

And here’s another example for the reading challenged:

“We have been forced to hire 24-hour on site security. We have had to reinforce doors and bullet-proof our walls,” Matzke continued. “We’ve had to paint our building with anti-graffiti coating. We’ve added cameras, armed our staff with pepper spray and stopped running our mobile clinic because of threats of violence.”

Not because of actual violence, but THREATS of violence. Which she said earlier were on social media and the MSM. Where are the receipts for actual violence against the clinic? Actionable – as in called the police. Or is it as I suspect exaggerated testimony for itching ears?

Oh, and stop giving yourself a “thumbs up”. I’m sure no one else does.

Hmmm…apparently your mom doesn’t allow you a tv in the attic in which you are locked and therefore missing the DAILY reports of bloody assaults, graffti, tire slashing, fires, break ins and property destruction, threats “if abortion isn’t safe neither are you” against centers providing the very care she described in detail. Some people enjoy marinating in their ignorance in order to keep their own out of wack world view afloat…I have noticed you are one of those people.

Although it’s the termination of a human life, I can accept a “12 weeks” rule. This allows for IUDs (the premise of which disturbs me) and relates to the traditional “quickening.”

How can any woman choose to abort her baby after feeling it move?

IUD’s mechanism of preventing an embryo to implant is considered an abortion by some. Since it is causing an embryo, a baby, to be expelled.

Not exactly a reputable provider of ‘services’ known to have consistently lied to patients about the facts. These are not solutions to adoption which has huge waiting lists. All a bit of a joke
