Netherlands Police Open Fire at Farmers Protesting Globalist ‘Climate Change’ Restrictions

Dutch ministers “warn that farmers will have to adapt or face the prospect of shuttering their businesses.”

Police in the Netherlands opened fire at farmers protesting against the government’s radical new “climate change” policies. The shots were fired when a tractor convoy tried to push past a police barricade, the local news reports say.

“The incident occurred late Tuesday evening on a freeway access near Heerenveen” in northern Holland, the Swiss newspaper Schweizer Bauer reported. “Farmers had blocked the road with tractors. As they approached police and their vehicles, the officers resorted to their firearms and hit at least one of the tractors,” the daily added, citing police sources.

No one was hurt in the incident, news reports confirm.

Nationwide demonstrations erupted last week in response to the government’s new regulations — passed by the Parliament on June 28 — forcing the farmers to reduce emissions drastically.

The German state broadcaster Deutsche Welle reported the incident:

Dutch authorities on Wednesday said an official investigation has been opened into the events of a heated night of farmers’ protests in the north of the Netherlands.

Farmers have been demonstrating against a government proposal to slash emissions of pollutants. The protests turned into unrest as they blocked roads and supermarket distribution centers for several days.

Police say they fired warning shots late on Tuesday and arrested several people after protesting farmers started driving their tractors toward officers at a highway entry lane in Friesland.

But the protesters contest the police’s statement, claiming they posed no threat to the officers.

According to local media reports, the Dutch farmers’ interest group LTO called for an investigation, while the police union ACP insisted it was incidental event that would not contribute to further escalation in the already tense situation.

Hours later, on Wednesday morning, protesting farmers were gathering outside the Groningen airport in the north of the country.

The protesters were seeking to block the Groningen airport with their tractors. Medical flights were not affected, according to an official as quoted by the Volkskrant newspaper.

Armed with new regulations, the Dutch government is threatening to put farmers out of business. The government ministers “warn that farmers will have to adapt or face the prospect of shuttering their businesses,” the newspaper Irish Independent reported on June 29.

The protests intensified this week, with farmers picketing government buildings, blocking highways, and blockading supermarkets. “Two days of blockades of distribution centres by farmers’ protest groups will cost supermarkets tens of millions, food retailers’ group CBL has warned,” the media outlet Dutch News reported Wednesday.

New regulations demand that Dutch farmers drastically reduce their livestock. The Dutch authorities “estimates a 30 per cent reduction in the number of livestock is needed,” the French TV channel Euro News reported Tuesday.

The Dutch parliament passed emission regulations for farmers to comply with European Union diktats. “European conservation laws limit the amount of nitrogen pollution allowed around listed conservation areas known as Natura 2000 zones,” Euro News explained.

With war raging in Ukraine, the world’s second largest grain exporter, the Dutch climate regulations could severely impact the global food supply. The Netherlands is the world’s second-largest agricultural exporter after the United States.

For those who have any remaining doubt as to how the left intends to bring about “fundamental change” into their Marxist Utopia

You spelled fascist wrong. Fascists believe in corporatism and a merger between party and corporations for ideological ends communists believe in taking the means of production.

It is a minor nitpick but our opponents have little if any traces of marx outside of occasional rhetoric. There is a lot more of Mussolini.

No Danny, I was not wrong so let me correct you as usual ( and you had gotten so much better for a while)

While I agree ( assuming we are using textbook definitions which are not always fully accurate as describing current political parties) that we see what appears to be textbook corporate fascisms- that’s closer to the ideology of the RINO Globalists ( the right extremist)

The left clearly does NOT adhere to any of the core tenants of fascisms other than for superficial usage when convenient. ( excluding possibly Bernie and AOC)- they are seeking total dominion under the banner of Marxism but even then its not textbook and they don’t care.

“The left clearly does NOT adhere to any of the core tenants of fascisms other than for superficial usage when convenient.”

How so? They aren’t Nazis, sure. But Mussolini-style fascism? Very accurate. An all-powerful state? Check. Companies allowed to profit so long as they do so according to the rules imposed by that all-powerful state? Check. The stifling of all political dissent? Check.

Everything in the State, nothing outside the State, nothing against the State? Check check check.

They don’t seek “total dominion under the banner of Marxism.” They merely seek total domination.

This is both a problem as well as a disguise the left uses so don’t fall into it because they want to bog people down in meaningless discussions which produce nothing.

The main technique is that they create a “textbook” definition of a class ( Marxist, fascist , globalist or whatever) then they make sure they leave out a few things to deny ( yet accuse others)

Very old tactic and even Alinsky brought it back.

The simple fact is these “labels” at best only superficially apply to any group and really mean little to nothing.

Both the “left” ( the current enemy) and their partners ( the RINO) both have a goal of total domination and dominion over all the peoples of the Earth and don’t care what set o techniques or labels they use to achieve it.

All parts of this argument are pointless and have a net zero benefit except it consumes resources better allocated to fighting them.

Please, people. “tenants” are people to whom you rent property; “tenets” are articles of belief.

Evil Otto in reply to Danny. | July 6, 2022 at 11:23 am

I agree with this. They’re not really Marxists, not interested in seizing the means of production or all of that rot. They’re full-on fascists. They want to build an all-powerful state, and if companies are willing to play ball then they don’t have a problem with making money. But if anyone, large company or small farmer, dares to object…? Then they must be crushed.

ConradCA in reply to Danny. | July 6, 2022 at 6:44 pm

There is no significant difference between Socialism, Communism, Nazism and our progressive fascism. What matters is they all are dedicated to building their fascist utopia and anyone who gets in their way will be destroyed. Their utopia has them ruling a one party state and thru it they will control every aspect of society without constraint. The rest is just lies designed to just the evil the want to do and irrelevant.

Steven Brizel in reply to ConradCA. | July 7, 2022 at 8:23 am

Remember the truckers protests in Canada and the lawsuits against the vaccine and mask mandates- all of these protests are all directed at a collective deep state and modern day Tower of Babel that seeks to control every aspect of our lives and decide who shall live and who shall die economically and culturally.

I saw a Dutch Twitter user comment that the real goal was a land grab for housing, related to the government-backed influx of “migrants”. He or she referred to Dutch government documents on this plan, but I do not read the language.

What’s even sadder is that I suspect over 90% of the people who claim to be upset about the reversal of RvW do not have a functional understanding of what it was, what was decided, what it means or much of anything else.

If you could tell the difference between leftist westerners and horrid horrid evil horrible no good dictatorships we must go on crusade against (according to western foreign policy elites) feel free to inform me because I think police firing on protestors is the same whatever cops do it.

“… the prospect of shuttering their businesses”

And what happens when this is the choice farmers start to make? Then what?

SeiteiSouther in reply to gantzm. | July 6, 2022 at 11:38 am

That’s what I was thinking. They will get what they want, but will end up going hungry as a result. Then, they’ll wonder why.

Then the govt seizes the land and brings in their own farmers.

Which may be exactly what all this is about in the first place.

Think Bill Gates buying up all Americas farm land…

        txvet2 in reply to gonzotx. | July 6, 2022 at 2:48 pm

There are about 900 million acres of farmland in the US. Gates owns about 200-250 thousand acres. His intentions may be nefarious, but he’s hardly got a corner on the agricultural real estate market.

henrybowman in reply to Gosport. | July 6, 2022 at 5:29 pm

“Then the govt seizes the land and brings in their own farmers.”

This is the funniest line I’ve heard all month.

Here in the US, the FBI busted some mob operations who were running porn websites. They took over the websites as assets, and continued to operate them, because hey — assets — and they weren’t illegal. They mismanaged them so atrociously that they actually drove them bankrupt. Driving a porn site bankrupt is only slightly more difficult than misplacing your house.

(This is an entirely separate scandal from the one where the FBI was operating more than half of the child porn websites on the darkweb at one point — 23 or 24. They didn’t operate those long enough to actually bankrupt those, too. However, they never won a single conviction from any of them, because they steadfastly refused to reveal details of their technical hackery to which the defendants were legally entitled, so the judges voided all the indictments. Which may have saved their bacons, since every count of a defendant viewing prohibited images was matched by a count of some agent providing that image, and both were subject to the same penalties.)

CapeBuffalo in reply to Gosport. | July 7, 2022 at 2:26 am

I don’t think any government will ever be able create their own farmers. It takes dedication and smarts to be a farmer, not a government characteristic.

billi in reply to Gosport. | July 7, 2022 at 4:11 pm

Happened in South Africa. Seizes the farms, farms allocated to relatives and generals and a once bountiful land goes to weeds. No exports and hunger prevails

This seems like a question where the consensus was formed in the managerial /establishment class echo chamber. Now they are viewing the difference between not only the reality of how narrowly held those views are but also the difference between a theoretical, academic exercise of implementation v the real world.

Sometimes I wonder if these would be totalitarians truly understand the distinction between IRL and the closed loop the neo clerisy inhabits.

First: you must disarm the population! In the Netherlands, the possession of all firearms, ammunition and other weapons is prohibited. It is also forbidden to use weapons. There are some exceptions, but in those cases you will need a weapons permit.

Which makes Tarl Warwick’s residence there quite humorous.

No doubt, nitrogen reduction is an important part of the liberal new world order. Sounds brilliantly utopian. Why haven’t the U.S. progressives proposed something like this? Don’t they care about climate change??

Interesting how Brute squads are coming back in totalitarian countries.

The action taken is not happening in a vacuum. For 50 years this has been going on with World Economic Forum. The 2,500 world’s top leaders from POLITICS, business, civil society, academia, media and the arts met in the Swiss mountain village of Davos in May 2022 at its Annual Meeting. The 2022 meeting centered around the theme History at a Turning Point: Government Policies and Business Strategies.

The premise of their philosophy of collective action has endured for more than 50 years with this years meeting starting point for a new era of global responsibility and cooperation. Over the past two years, the World Economic Forum has strengthened its impact initiatives, which deal with issues from COVID-19, climate change to education as well as technology and energy governance. Their mission statement of sustainability is laid out here: https://www.weforum.org/sustainability-world-economic-forum/sustainability-at-davos

Dutch ministers “warn that farmers will have to adapt or face the prospect of shuttering their businesses.”
_____________________________________________________

those are not the only alternatives on offer to the dutch farmers as the ministers are very likely to find out

I hope the citizenry are wise and strong enough to back the farmers.

You’d think the Dutch government would have learned some lessons from 5 years of Nazi occupation. Nahhhhh….

Tractor was driving past on the road and showed no intention of striking anyone. WOW!!

This is an attack on meat and diary, to bring about bugs as their replacement.

If the farmers plow every crop under, will the politicians starve first?
WW3 seems to be fast approaching.

WildernessLawyer | July 7, 2022 at 9:05 am

I wonder how many of these farmers voted for parties making up the current government.

The minds of our children have been poluted into believing that God created this planet such that His creations could permanently destroy it by using the resources He provided specifically for our benefit so that we can serve Him.
This will be our future as long as policies are made to appease the global warming-anthropogenic climate change-climate crisis-anti fossil fuel mafia.

Adapt or close. Reduce your cattle herds. EU diktats.

It seems that the government of the Netherlands lives in cloud cuckoo land.

From my perspective, when a government fails to put the interest of all of its citizens, that government is no longer legitimate. The Netherlands remains sovereign and should not slavishly follow whatever the EU says.

The ministers were not elected or appointed by the citizens of other EU members, and they should not irritate the voters in the Netherlands.

I gather that the elite politicians and their families do not drink milk or eat beef products. Once the farms shut down, they can eat imported beef and dairy.

The Netherlands is the second-largest exporter of agricultural products with an estimated 100 billion Euros. Yet the government is okay with reducing its agricultural exports, which is terrible for the balance of trade and bad for tax revenues.

Leadership rule number one is to put your people first.
