San Francisco: Soros-Backed Socialist DA Chesa Boudin Overwhelmingly Loses Recall Election

It seems like only yesterday that I wrote about Chesa Boudin winning the District Attorney race in San Francisco.  An avowed socialist and Soro-backed pro-criminal DA, Boudin entered office in 2019 promising to bring a new vision to the city via “decarceral justice.”

The results have been so shocking and horrifying that progressive San Francisco had enough of the crazy and started organizing a recall election to get that man out of office before he could do any further harm.

Boudin’s short time in office was such a disaster that at least one progressive San Francisco prosecutor quit her job so she could join the recall effort.  It’s not clear how many of the 50 attorneys who left the DA’s office during Boudin’s first eighteen months in office also joined the recall effort.

The recall was a tremendous success, with Boudin being crushed as 60% of voters voted to remove him from office.

CBS News reports:

San Francisco residents voted overwhelmingly Tuesday to recall District Attorney Chesa Boudin, one of the nation’s most progressive top prosecutors.Partial results from the San Francisco Department of Elections on Tuesday night showed the recall measure — also known as Proposition H — had the support of nearly 60% of voters, with 40% voting against it.Boudin sought to reform the criminal justice system, ending the use of cash bail, stopping the prosecution of minors as adults, and focused on lowering jail populations amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Boudin also became the first San Francisco DA to file homicide charges against city police officers.. . . . San Francisco Mayor Landon Breed will choose Boudin’s replacement.Whoever is appointed will have to run in the general election to fill the remainder of Boudin’s term, which was to last through 2023.

Needless to say, there wasn’t much to celebrate at Boudin’s election night party.

Boudin is blaming a herd of unicorn San Francisco republicans for his ouster. And “tech bros.” Or something.

I’m pretty sure that Republicans don’t make up 60% of the electorate in San Francisco, even in a recall election, but we’ll find out when the numbers roll in. For now, Boudin can’t admit (or see?) that it was his horrific pro-crime and pro-criminal policies at the expense of law-abiding, tax-paying citizens that created a situation that made his continuing in office untenable for the citizens of San Francisco.
