Liberals Brag Despite Lackluster Ratings for J6 Show Trial

On Thursday night, Professor Jacobson explained why he would not be watching the Democrats’ J6 show trial. Apparently, a lot of people felt the same way.

Liberals are trying to gloat about the ratings but they have nothing to brag about.

Early analysis suggests approximately 20 million people watched. The left thinks this is a win.

Here’s a reality check from Tristan Justice of The Federalist:

Jan. 6 Committee Pulls Dismal Ratings In Prime-Time Show TrialTelevision networks that broadcast the Jan. 6 Committee’s first summer hearing in prime time Thursday night failed to attract more viewers than on a typical weeknight.“The world is watching what we do here,” Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., said in his opening statement. “America has long been expected to be a shining city on a hill, a beacon of hope and freedom, a model for others when we are at our best.”Thompson’s viewership, however, missed the mark.According to preliminary ratings figures from Nielsen published by The New York Times, more than 19 million tuned in for what was anticipated to be a blockbuster event. While 19 million may seem high at first glance, a look at what cable and broadcast networks typically pull for an average evening reveals Thursday’s viewership as little to brag about, especially when all but one, Fox News, aired the livestream.

Media analyst Joe Concha of The Hill also weighed in on this:

Finally, a word from Bill D’Agostino of NewsBusters:

Broadcast Networks’ Jan 6 Hearings Drew Smaller Audiences than Nightly Newscasts Last WeekThe preliminary broadcast network ratings are in for last night’s January 6 committee hearings, and they paint a disappointing picture for Democrats and their media pals.Based on the most recent ratings data, January 6 hearing coverage on broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) drew significantly smaller audiences than those networks’ own evening newscasts generally do on a standard weekday. Evening newscast audiences on any given night last week were 1.6 times larger than the total number of broadcast viewers who tuned into the hearings on Thursday.

Jon Gabriel sums it up here:

This was, to use one of Obama’s favorite expressions, a distraction.
