Companies Promising Employees to Help Pay to Travel to Get Abortions

They can get out of expensive maternity leave!

It’s cheaper than maternity leave after all! Starbucks already promised to pay for employees to travel to get abortions. A handful joined them today after SCOTUS overturned Roe and will leave it to the states.

I’ll update these when I see them. If you see any please tweet them to me!

I bet the number of women who will exactly exercise this right will be infinitesimal. Most women will probably use the extra money as a free vacation. It would be absolutely depraved if these companies ask for proof of the abortion.

Look at this from another angle: how many women are going to go to the company travel office or personnel, and ask for the money? “I needed so that I can go out of state together to abortion “. That leaks out to any of the pro life people in the office and her life will be a living hell.

I wonder how many persons with penises will self-identify as birthing persons to get a free trip.

This could be better than PPP fraud, if prosecuted.

Well, the ones who are married only have to claim their wife is knocked up. Nothing says it has to be the employee (at Dicks, at least)..
Girlfriends are right out, though. Aw.

They will not be restricted to a preferred provider as is normal but can pick
one in a state where they want to visit, think Hawaii. Many women get multiple abortions and they will not have limits. The only limits will be the number of sick days they are allowed annually. Sounds like they are opening a can of worms. It is not unusual to get pregnant by their supervisor.

So far none of these businesses get my business.

I’m sensing a scam in the making. I mean if you’re planning on leaving the company for another job, why not? Bob from accounting decides on a trip to another state (because who are you to decide that only biological women can get this?) so he loads up the car and drives (due to his delicate health, he can’t fly) with frequent stops, a day or two at the destination, then a leisurely trip back at company expense a few weeks before he gives notice that he’s moving elsewhere.

Whoo hoo! Time to double down on my put options on Dicks!

This is helpful – now it will easier to tell who I’ll be boycotting. I stopped buying from Dicks a long time ago anyway for other reasons. I cancelled my vacation plans to visit Disney-world earlier this year. These companies are nuts!

If a private company wants to offer this, I don’t have a problem with it, but I’d bet it doesn’t get used very often. I wonder what the paperwork looks like to take advantage of this benefit?

Yeah, but the named companies aren’t private. They are publicly held companies with shareholders to whom they have a fiduciary responsibility.

I’m going to take a wild guess that this wasn’t run by the Boards and certainly wasn’t voted on by the shareholders.

Given the rapidly decreasing tolerance for corporate wokeness that costs shareholders money this could get interesting.

It’s a boon for writers. The French series “Spiral” season 5 episodes 1-2 shows Laure’s ambivalence about abortion when she boards a train from Paris to Brussels to get an abortion, the time allowed being greater than in France there, and then disboards before the train leaves.

Kinky Friedman’s abortion song “Rapid City, South Dakota” will become relevant again too.

Can the male in the relationship use the funds to bring his female to get an abortion or is it only the female employees that are covered?

Dicks

What an appropriate name

Please, businesses. Do this, so I can know not to spend money with you.

Abortion-enabling CEO’s are like those mob bosses in “Casino”: “It’s the dollars, always the f***ing dollars.”

Dick’s. The store that treats me like royalty. I walk in the door and every Dick’s employee averts their eyes.

Are there any legal implications for a business in a state that restricts abortion paying employees to go to another state in order to circumvent state law?

For the adult employees it’s not a huge issue. For employees who are minor children or the minor children of employees covered on their Parents plan it could be an issue. Especially when that minor is transported across a State line to undergo a procedure that is unlawful in their own State and without Parental consent; the minor child asked Aunt Becky to drive them or their adult co-worker.

As far as I can tell, most laws regulating abortion ban elective abortions and/or late-term abortions, leaving medically necessary and cases of rape and incest on the table.

Why are we shelling out for the world’s most expensive contraceptive when Plan B is $50?

Rupert Smedley Hepplewhite | June 24, 2022 at 6:07 pm

It’s cheaper to pay for an abortion than a pregnant employee and they return to work faster.

Not approving, just saying.

I don’t use any of those businesses, amd won’t. $4000 dollars? Are they going on vacay?

Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan Chase, Bank of America, and Citigroup Rush to Fund Abortion Travel

Others wondering what states will ban abortions I wonder how many will turn into a industrial baby abortion corporation

It’s almost like God wants to centralize the wicked into geographically centralized locations… gee I wonder what sort of Old Testament wheels are in motion and I wonder how it works out… if only there were some frame of reference.

So if the companies are paying for it and not the insurance provider- this is totally ripe for abuse… (GOOD!). AMZN can’t really force you to prove you are pregnant, nor whether you actually had the procedure. Take the trip and then change your mind at the last minute?

Do this 7-8 times year?

As a male I now identify as a pregnant female. I want paid travel to an abortion clinic…. only downside is I won’t visit any of the hell hole states that legalize it….
