Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced she will run for a second term.
And if you don’t give Lightfoot a second term you’re a sexist racist homophobe.
I imagine that’s what Lightfoot will cry if she loses a second term.

In a video announcing her bid for reelection, Lightfoot sought to transform the criticism that she’s too combative into a strength by vowing to keep fighting for Chicago residents as she seeks a second term. By embracing her image as a political pugilist, Lightfoot is betting that Chicago voters will see her as a righteous fighter rather than someone who throws unnecessary haymakers.
“When we fight for change, confront a global pandemic, work to keep kids in school, take on guns and gangs, systemic inequality and political corruption only to have powerful forces try and stop progress for Chicago — of course I take it personally, for our city,” Lightfoot said. “Change doesn’t happen without a fight. It’s hard. It takes time. And, I’ll be the first to admit I’m just not the most patient person. I’m only human, and I guess sometimes it shows. But just because some may not always like my delivery doesn’t mean we’re not delivering.”
Lightfoot faces a crowded field: “South Side Ald. Roderick Sawyer, son of a former mayor; former Chicago Public School CEO Paul Vallas; Illinois state Rep. Kam Buckner; Southwest Side Ald. Raymond Lopez; and businessman Willie Wilson.”
Then again Chicago has been a cesspool since its inception. When has Chicago not been corrupted, violent, and bloated? Nothing has changed. Nothing will ever change.

Nobody running has any intention to fix what is wrong with Chicago. To do so would mean forgoing the payoffs. Not gonna happen. And in any case, we don’t need to care because they are a hostile foreign country. Let them go to perdition in their own way.

Lori Lightfoot’s chief strategy is to put down anyone who dares to ask her a question. She is good at that—has it down to a fine art.
How ‘good’ she is at being asshole is debatable. She’s just a run of the mill asshole.

More broadly look at the people IL voters send – repeatedly – to the Chicago City Council as well as those they send to the IL legislature, and most particularly to the governor’s office.
They actually pride themselves on the level of corruption in that shit hole. And that shit hole runs the entire state, which is why I moved to Texas as soon as I got my HS diploma. Fuck that shit hole and all of it’s pathetic loser denizens.
It has nothing to do with stupid and everything to do with color and sexual orientation.

She wishes to deliver violent crime to all citizens equitably, not just the Blacks?
Chicago has always had a crooked Machine running it. When I lived in Fox River Grove (a suburb), everyone knew that a vote for Richard Daley counts, and counts, and counts . . . . .
It seemed like Richard Daley always maximized the Dead Vote, and his supporters had the motto, “Vote early and often.”
Even though we all knew that Daley was a crook, he knew how to make the city run. Yes, he and his favorite aldermen got rich somehow, but everything worked, and that’s why people voted (and voted, and voted) for him.
The difference now is that people like Lightfoot don’t know how to make the city work. She is so committed to woke falsehoods that nothing works. The cops aren’t allowed to shake down the gangbangers for guns, so gang homicides are a dozen a day. She’s encouraged the “white supremacy” nonsense, which is actually irrelevant since most of the violent crime in Chicago is black-on-black. She’s also supported the Antifa/BLM violence, which has naturally extended to smash-and-grab robberies that the criminals think of as “reparations.”
The “defund the police” mantra has become so ingrained that there aren’t enough cops on the beat, and the ones working stay out of the gang areas so they won’t get caught up in a gunfight—where the false narrative is always “Hands up, don’t shoot!”
So she’ll probably get re-elected, since anyone voting against her is “racist.”
She did, indeed, hasten our exit from IlliNoyed. Her crime hit our former- Mayberry suburb hard.

Judging by the lack of Illinois license plates here in Central Florida, I would say Illinois citizens – Chicagoans, in particular – like their mayor. She will win re-election.
Just because they didn’t go to FL doesn’t mean they didn’t move. Net migration from IL last year was 47k. Not everyone can afford to move.
Why do people paint all of IL rabid blue, when below I-80 is mostly red (save Springfield). 90% of our family is in central IL – mostly farmers – and living well in conservative counties. The only reason for going to Chicago is for the airports and the occasional Cubs game. There’s no tax on pension or SS there, sales tax is 6%. Property tax on my 2nd house there is less than my coastal WA home. What my WA home would sell for would let me buy 6-7 homes in ‘Cornville’. It ain’t a bad life there – but gets a bad rap because of Chicago and Lightfoot. Good small-town folk, reminds me of life in small-town WA back in the 60’s and early 70’s. I’ll probably wind up there when the WA home gets to be too much to take care of (acreage).

Sawyer’s ward is on the south side in some of the worst neighborhoods in Chicago — Englewood, Chatham, and the like. These were awful when Roddy became alderman in 2011 and they’re awful today. He hasn’t made a bit of a difference, which is the kind of mayor he’ll be if elected. He’s a thorough progressive and checks all those boxes.
So Lightfoot or Sawyer — in the end, no difference at all.
