The Texas Department of Safety said that 18-year-old Salvador Ramos opened fire in the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, TX.
The death toll stands at 19 children and two adults. The investigation is still ongoing so not a lot of new information has come out:
“This is a tragic time in our district,” she said, “we greatly appreciate your patience and understanding.”Uvalde CISD Chief of Police Pete Arredondo confirmed that his department is “still working on this active investigation” and promised “once we’re able to provide information to the families, we will do so first and foremost. Please bear with us,” Chief Arredondo added.”Once we do get some information that we can release to the public, we will do that,” Arredondo said, promising a future press conference would be held when more information is able to be released to the public.”Let me assure you,” Chief Arredondo said, “the intruder is deceased and we are not actively looking for another individual or any other suspects in this case.””We definitely ask you all to keep the families that are involved in your prayers,” Arredondo said in closing.
An elite border patrol agent killed the gunman:
An agent with the Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC), a specialized unit within the U.S. Border Patrol, is believed to have shot and killed the suspected gunman who killed 18 children and at least one adult at Robb Elementary school on Tuesday in Uvalde, Texas.The agent entered the school with a team while other law enforcement officers engaged with the suspect who was barricaded, Border Patrol sources told Fox News.The agent was struck in the leg by either a bullet or shrapnel.BORTAC provides immediate response to high-risk incidents requiring special skills and tactics, according to the Border Patrol. The team has full-time members based in El Paso, Texas and non-full-time members throughout the United States.
An official said Ramos “barricaded himself inside a classroom.” The classroom belonged to 4th graders:
“The shooter was able to make entry into a classroom, barricaded himself inside that classroom and again just began shooting numerous children and teachers that were in that classroom having no regard for human life. … Just began shooting anyone that was in his way,” he said. “At that point we had a tactical law enforcement arrive … that were able to able to make forcible entry into that classroom. They were met with gunfire as well but they were able to shoot and kill that suspect.’’
The left immediately politicized the tragedy, calling for gun control. They cannot answer, “What kind of gun control?” It’s just like, “What is this fair share you demand?”
Katie Pavlich at Townhall noted that Biden used the horror to dive “into a partisan screed full of bad jokes.” But Biden is not the only one.
