Biden Administration Creating ‘Disinformation Governance Board’ Headed by Trump-Hating Leftist

“Jankowicz also suggested last week that she opposes the The First Amendment because she thinks it is bad for ‘marginalized communities’ and called Elon Musk a ‘free speech absolutist’ because he wants to make Twitter more open to all voices.”

The Biden administration is creating a new bureaucracy under the Department of Homeland Security that sounds like nothing more than an Orwellian ‘Ministry of Truth.’

The so-called ‘Disinformation Governance Board’ is coming to fruition just as Elon Musk has taken control of Twitter and will be headed by Nina Jankowicz, an anti-Trump progressive who frequently appears on MSNBC.

What could possibly go wrong?

Hannah Nightingale reported at the Post Millennial:

BREAKING: Biden administration creates ‘Disinformation Governance Board’ under DHS to fight ‘misinformation’

The Department of Homeland Security is setting up a new board designed to counter misinformation related to homeland security, with a focus specifically on Russia and irregular migration. The board will be called the “Disinformation Governance Board, and will be headed by executive director Nina Jankowicz.

Speaking with the House Appropriations DHS Subcommittee on Wednesday afternoon, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said, “Our Undersecretary for Policy, Rob Silvers is co-chair with our Principal Deputy General Counsel, Jennifer Gaskell, in leading a just recently constituted misinformation disinformation governance board. So we’re bringing — the goal is to bring the resources of the department together to address this threat.”

Jankowicz was previously a disinformation fellow at the Wilson Center, and had advised the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry as part of the Fulbright Public Policy Fellowship, according to Politico.

The Daily Mail has more:

The Russia disinformation expert previously called the laptop of President Joe Biden’s son Hunter a ‘Trump campaign product’.

This is causing questions over Jankowicz’s ability to accurately judge disinformation now that several sources have come out confirming the validity of Hunter’s laptop.

Jankowicz also suggested last week that she opposes the The First Amendment because she thinks it is bad for ‘marginalized communities’ and called Elon Musk a ‘free speech absolutist’ because he wants to make Twitter more open to all voices.

Should we all be concerned? I think so:

I screen capped the two tweets below, just in case:

Here’s more:

If Republicans take control after the 2022 midterms, they should dissolve the Department of Homeland Security and this new office along with it.

OMG, the government has left us behind. They are approaching their own version of reality..

“Trump hating leftist”

The more they hate Trump, the further left they go.
Or, the further left they are, the more they hate Trump.*

*Applies to Republicans also.

Musk buys Twitter

Dems come out swinging

Republicans hid in the bushes…

Dems fight for their insanity

Republicans cower like the pu$$ys they are…

    No, don’t buy the lie.

The RINO’s are not cowards nor are they cowering.

They have a shared agenda with the left on many key parts and in those cases give give a WWE level “appearance” of controlled opposition always talking but never actually doing.

If you want to see RINO “bravery” and dedication to a cause until they win- just look at their contributions to the 2020 election. ( The left COULD NOT have stolen the election without coordinated premeditated cooperation from the RINO)

You want to see RINO’s fight? Threaten their kickback and see what they do to you.

Until we fix the RINO problem, nothing else will ever happen

I think many Americans will have quite a bit of fun with this. Alinsky’s Rule #5.

Imagine the out cry if this was Trump creating a ministry of fake news. The deaths on the left would dwarf what happened with Net Neutrality.

It’s a damn good thing that Bush created a “Department of Homeland Security” (Heimatschutzministerium), so that the federal government would have a handy superstructure to pigeonhole every other Nazi bureaucracy it would subsequently think up.

Well she doesn’t seem like like a prototype Karen at all. She’s just a normal beltway dwelling Bryn Mawr and Georgetown grad who took time out in the exile of the Trump years to work for the govt of Ukraine. I’m positive she will always be evenhanded and won’t allow her own biases to influence her work. /S

Holy crap this lady is something. It’s like the Biden admin is on a bender in Vegas going ‘all in’ with every hand without regard to consequences on their nominees.

And it’s always a chick, or somebody who thinks he’s a chick.
I can’t wait for the Ministry of Equity.
Cue call for Diana Moon Glampers!

When the next Republican president is inaugurated in 2025, killing off this abomination should be the very first order of business.

How about instead of being the adult who cleans up the messes that the children make the r embrace this and to paraphrase Mencken use it to ‘give it to the d/prog good and hard’. It’s well past time to use the weapons the d/prog create against them. They might just begin to realize their mistakes if instead of unilaterally disarming the r decide to employ the same weapons and tactics. Civility and norms sure haven’t convinced them so maybe we should shift gears and do what the d/prog do x2 until they quit.

Every new appointment by Sundowner’s Puppeteers is some stark raving Marxist.
And they will be finding people, blogs, talk show hosts or podcasts to harass or worse indictments and arrests to prove they are important and need more money and personal.

We are all Jan 6 prisoners now…

How much money is this going to cost the taxpayer? I assume she is not doing this for free, how much additional staff will this operation employ?

The Ministry of Bullshit, headed by a fascist. And WE ARE PAYING FOR IT!!

Then again, there’s NPR and PBS.

Soros and the rest of the socialist Democrats should just pay her (assuming her gender) salary.

It will be under their thumbs anyway…

Re: NPR/PBS. The best equipment for the worst, equity humping “news” outlets.

She could be Gretchen Whitmer’s kid sister. Put them side by side on the dais up front in a policy meeting, and tell me I’m wrong.

Ah yes, the Ministry of Truth (1984). No need to watch the news anymore, just re-read Orwell.

Speaking of authors, the new Reichspropagandaminister wrote:

“How to Lose the Information War: Russia, Fake News, and the Future of Conflict”

Feel better now?

I think it’s notable that they didn’t call it the Anti-Disinformation Board. Nope. It’s the Disinformation Governance Board. Disinformation has to governed and controlled, not abolished.

Dimsdale in reply to Pasadena Phil. | April 28, 2022 at 11:10 pm

One rule for the disinformation they like, and other rules (enforced this time) for the alleged disinformation they don’t like.

Sounds like the dispirited Twitter execs will have a place to go!

henrybowman in reply to Pasadena Phil. | April 29, 2022 at 5:10 pm

“they didn’t call it the Anti-Disinformation Board.”
Would have sounded WAY too much like the “Anti-Dog-Eat-Dog Rule.”

So 1984 is now real and they have assembled the Ministry of Truth. Double-plus ungood.

Ignore these cretins, make them show you their twisted insanity.

Excellent advice. They may well be sowing the seeds of their own destruction. This “Department” may yet be the source of ever more stupidity from the Left. Image the Tweets Musk is likely to make about it.

Orwell was an optimist.

Why are we waiting?

Why isn’t this a lawsuit right now?

I’ve been thinking the same thing since I heard about it.

SuddenlyHappyToBeHere in reply to Treguard. | April 29, 2022 at 9:39 am

What is the claim? What is the cause of action? What has happened to sue over that has a basis in law?

henrybowman in reply to Treguard. | April 29, 2022 at 5:13 pm

If we had an effective opposition party, they would be all over the airwaves right now yapping about this and making the Dims OWN it all. Whether or not they have the votes to actually get anything passed is totally beside the point. They should be busy being LOUD and IN OUR FACES about this, Maxine Waters style. They should own the opposition to it, not just sit back and play more golf after the bell rings.

Ok, so she’s a pathological liar and a facist. But will she dye her hair red and put on a bitch act, too?

Dissolving DHS requires courage. That is a quality not to be found in the GOP caucus.

So the disinformation from, say Little Red Lying Hood (Psaki) will be given a good “leaving alone” I presume?

Here is some “disinformation”? that will be approved:

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2022/04/28/tillis-cornyn-start-talks-democrats-promote-amnesty-hundreds-thousands-illegals/

Again Cornyn. The Gang of Eight is still alive and kicking. These are the Swamp Rats in both parties who hear the clock ticking down the time to November. And you can bet head Swamp Rat McConnell is again going to do everything he can to help. Probably by redirecting our attention with his Trump (and soon DeSantis) attacks. He is already working to lose Georgia and other elections where Trump is making a big impact and he is very worried about the rise of DeSantis. I know, nobody cares. We are only allowed to back one superstar, not two.

And of course she has a copy of her book propped up (on what appears to be a piece of Ikea furniture) in the background of that still.

This patently unconstitutional bureaucracy and equally dangerous appointment must be fought on all legal bases possible

Joseph Goebbels had a Ministry of Truth.
Joseph Stalin had a Ministry of Truth.
Joseph Biden has a Ministry of Truth.
L Jones in FB

I think they have something like “CDC Guidance” in mind. Technically, the CDC never mandated anyone to do anything. They just issued “guidance” and companies, state and local governments, etc all complied so as to find “safe harbor” against litigation, and political pressure.

So the new Minitru will doubtless avoid being so (legally) clumsy as issuing diktats on what social media can do. They will, however, issue all kinds of “helpful guidance” and set “standards of performance” that will, de facto, become law by the normal operation of cowardice and opportunism –unless we stop it.

On that note, I think it’s a mistake to focus on the (intentional?) lightening rod of the present named director. If that becomes the issue, they’ll just continue the whole insidious business with someone else. This thing needs to be opposed as the entirely anti American, fascistic, dystopian thing that it is (or may become). The GOP should ask every politician to renounce the whole idea of this, or face impeachment for violating their oath to defend the Constitution.

cathammer in reply to xnycp. | April 29, 2022 at 12:55 pm

They’ll “interpret” (and “reinterpret”, as necessary), and legislate by regulation. Perhaps they’ll borrow a few bureaucrats from the ATF to show them how that’s done.

This is certainly a government suppression of free speech — whether or not any court has the honesty and stones to rule that it is. When government can define and throttle what it claims to be disinformation, we have no recourse against government’s disinformation.

SuddenlyHappyToBeHere in reply to Bisley. | April 29, 2022 at 9:37 am

Not sure why you call it “suppression of free speech”. It has not done anything as yet, it has issued no edicts, it has not treated to actually suppress a thing.

If someone from th Ministry of Propaganda sends a letter, email, Tweet, etc., to any American claiming they are lying, etc., then you might have something to call suppression.

Not saying this does not piss me off, but nothing, other than the apparent creation of this department by the Administration, has happened.

SuddenlyHappyToBeHere | April 29, 2022 at 9:34 am

I’d counsel stopping the term “ministry of Truth”. Better narrative to call it what it really is, the Ministry of Propaganda.

Antifundamentalist | April 29, 2022 at 10:12 am

Disinfomation: Anything the Party in Power does not want communicated.

Fat_Freddys_Cat | April 29, 2022 at 10:16 am

This is my fault, and I apologize. I’ve got to stop doing this.

During the Democrat primaries when everyone was wondering who the Dems would run for President/VP, I joked that they’d run Limu Emu & Doug. And they did! Dammit it was just a joke not a suggestion! (I mean, the only difference I can see between Joe and Limu is that sometimes Limu is coherent.)

Then I was joking that Biden was going to appoint Dolores Umbridge to an important post. And he did! Dammit it was just a joke not a suggestion! (I mean, doesn’t look like she’s going to say “hem hem” any second now?)

Frank Hammond | April 29, 2022 at 10:27 am

She is perfect for Leftist Brain Dead Biden administration! Upper class, spoiled white women, Seven Sisters [Bryn Mawr] Grad – lives in a $$Million DC Condo – wears a Mask and looks down at those who don’t. This brat is the ultimate Karen!

What a joke, the Leftists deciding what constitutes dis-information. They are the biggest purveyors of dis-information, mis-information, propaganda, lying or, whatever else you desire to call it.

The Kremlin did use proxies to push influence narratives. They’ve been doing it since at least 1950 or so. And, just because the gov’t isn’t Communist anymore doesn’t mean they don’t still support getting the worst possible people into positions of authority here. Or just causing confusion and consternation.

But Trump and his supporters were not involved in it.

Also, having this organization at all violates the Constitution. It needs to be eliminated, with prejudice, and its advocates driven from the land with their backsides on fire.

henrybowman in reply to GWB. | April 29, 2022 at 5:17 pm

And not of the “unfortunate combustion” type, but of the “ready, aim” type.

Insufficiently Sensitive | April 29, 2022 at 12:11 pm

The Department of Homeland Security is setting up a new board designed to counter misinformation

Not counter, but suppress. Not misinformation, but anything from the truth to outright lies which DHS decides would be harmful to Democrat rule.

Time to abolish one of GW Bush’s major mistakes – the creation of DHS.

Insufficiently Sensitive | April 29, 2022 at 12:15 pm

If Republicans take control after the 2022 midterms, they should dissolve the Department of Homeland Security and this new office along with it

It’s THEIR creation under GW Bush, and perhaps they’ve learned enough since then to realize how it would inevitably be abused. There are plenty of other rent-seeking Gummint agencies to take care of spying on the citizens.

DHS was part and parcel of the Patriot Act, neither of which was the invention of true conservatives, but of NWO Bush-ite neo-cons. It’s worth reflecting that the only senator who voted no on this “moral panic” issue was Democrat Russ Feingold; of the 66 reps who voted no, 62 were Democrats.
To the Republicans who sold out their purported principles for their piece of the panic, I dedicate this observation by Rick Cook: “The key to understanding the American system is to imagine that you have the power to make nearly any law you want. But your worst enemy will be the one to enforce it.”
And this is what America looks like when the Marxists are the ones enforcing it.

Congress shall make no law abridging (diminishing, curtailing or depriving) freedom of speech…

Since DHS was created by congressional legislation… and DHS created the Ministry of Truth outside legislation… and the Ministry of Truth is intent on diminishing, curtailing and depriving the right of free speech because of an unenumerated provision of “disinformation” (which is not defined by law), the DHS is now unconstitutional.

Even i f the congress defines what is “disinformation”, that in turn will abridge freedom of speech. There is no way out for DHS. Unless Team Biden rejects the constitution.

May I repeat the question to anyone old enough to have voted in primaries for George W Bush

“What the devil was going through your mind”?

At over 51 BILLLION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dollars the yearly budget of DHS is very similar to TOTAL spending on ALL armaments by Russia per year.

This is a department that is overpaid, and has literally only ever been an arm of the Democrat Party.

Great job George W Bush….

I spent the entire W presidency defending him against scurrilous, wildly untrue allegations. Now the people who were attacking him are his besties — he and all of them hate me and mine. Tough way to learn a lesson.

This actually makes sense to me. It has been jokingly called the Ministry of Truth, but the real name, Disinformation Governance Board, means they will get their lies straight before releasing them officially.

“I may disagree with what you say, but I shall fight to the death against your right to say it.”
