History Profs Claim Republicans Are Taking the Country to Authoritarianism
“we must all become ‘antifa,’ or antifascists”
This is pure projection. Look at where the Democrats have brought us in less than a year.
The College Fix reports:
History professors: GOP taking country to authoritarianism, white supremacy
Even though the Republican Party holds neither the White House nor majorities in the Senate and House of Representatives, a trio of history professors claim the GOP is moving the country to an authoritarian and white supremacist path.
Writing in the Courier Journal, Professor Emeritus Berry Craig points to Brian Clardy of Murray State University, who says the situation is “serious” and “frightening,” and alleges Donald Trump was elected “largely” due to white backlash after two terms of Barack Obama.
Clardy said that while attending Obama’s 2009 inauguration, he told a woman next to him that white folks “back home” were “seething.” (Such was this white anger that they re-elected Mr. Obama four years later.)
To head off the coming fascist danger, another professor emeritus, Morehead State’s John Hennen (who apparently had his television off throughout the summer of 2020) says “we must all become ‘antifa,’ or antifascists.”
Craig (left), who taught at West Kentucky Community College, claims former President Trump and his supporters “ceaselessly demagogue” President Biden and Democrats, such as calling them “radical socialists” and “communists.”
While the GOP has little compunction about using such labels, Craig says Democrats aren’t willing to call out “Trumpism” for what it is: “a racist, sexist, xenophobic, homophobic and religiously bigoted movement that is anti-democratic and embraces violence and vigilantism.”
Clardy believes Democrats would do well to remind voters of just this in 2022 and 2024 — that “democracy itself will be on trial.”

This is just more crazy lefties doing their bit to support the narrative. That they are “history professors” is meaningless. That’s just the left’s obsessive credentialism rearing it’s childish little head.
Anyway, hasn’t the left outlawed history for insensitivity or something?
Are there no rational professors left in this country? They are all hysterical fearmongers pimping for the Democrat Party.
Not many left. Those of us who were rational have mostly retired or left.
And many universities are using “Diversity Statement” litmus tests to weed out any conservatives who might apply. That way, they won’t get any faculty members who might think for themselves and question the party line.
In History departments, not many. American Studies is even worse.
30 years ago in my first college history class, we had to read Howard Zinn and get all riled up about things.
Same prof recommended that we listen to NPR All Things Considered for our news.
Ugh. The more things change . . . .
In high school, my history teacher made us all subscribe to a national news magazine and read it weekly. Most of the kids chose Time or Newsweek; the teacher said not US News & World Report because it was “too Republican.” This was 1967!
“Are there no rational professors left in this country?”
None that want to be identified …
These are stupid useless people desperate for relevance and justification for the student loans they took out to get pointless degrees and dead end careers in third rate schools.
They are pompous children that have never had a real job. I know, because I was a hard science professor, and watched the decline of academia over the past forty years. I watched political “correctness” devolve into guilt, shaming and finally, cancelling.
Petulant children in Birkenstocks that could not survive 5 minutes in a real job.
Isn’t an “ivory tower” white? Asking for a friend……
Safety Tip for History Eggheads: Don’t write checks with your mouth that your body can’t cash.
Between these idiots, Hannah-Jones, and the cabal who thought the Arming America fraud was the best book since Acts of the Apostles, history professors can all take a flying leap.
“Morehead State’s John Hennen says “we must all become ‘antifa,’ or antifascists.”
Do it, idiot.
Black hoodie and mask is the new 10-ring.
Hmm. Alleged white backlash, fragility, guilt, supremacy, etc., etc.
Is this not tacit admission that whites are pretty darn powerful, and Republican whites even more so?
