University of Utah Investigating Reports of Men in KKK Robes Trying to Recruit Students in Dorm

We have witnessed some crazy campus hoaxes over the years, but this verges on satire. Are we supposed to believe the KKK is now roaming university dorms in their robes and hoods, trying to recruit students?
The New York Post reports:

The University of Utah is investigating accusations that a group of men in Ku Klux Klan robes tried to recruit students at a dorm, school officials said.
The alleged incident occurred in October and an initial investigation was inconclusive, but university police are taking a second look after a student questioned on Instagram why it hadn’t been addressed, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.
The public university in Salt Lake City is also investigating a second incident a month earlier when a black student reported returning to their dorm in the same building on Sept. 1 to find apparent feces smeared on the door.
The student, who also found a paper towel on the door handle, cleaned up the mess with the help of staffers before reporting the incident to a resident adviser, the newspaper reported.
Housing officials reviewed footage from the dorm that day and couldn’t find any possible suspects, although surveillance cameras may not have covered the area in question, a university spokesperson told the newspaper. It’s unclear which dorm the student — who was immediately moved into new housing — had been living in at the time.
The alleged KKK incident occurred on Oct. 1, according to the report. A resident adviser told university officials other students were overheard recalling men dressed in KKK attire, including white hooded robes, trying to recruit students inside a dorm to the white supremacist group.
The university scoured three days of video, but didn’t find anything matching that description, the university said in a statement.

This could very well be another hoax based on the paucity of real proof so far.

This sounds a bit improbable. Reads like some Babylon-Bee article except more sad than humorous.
1. Most likely a prank. One of those “let’s see who falls for this” things, like Ami Horowitz does.
2. 2nd most likely, a genuine event by some perfectly legitimate group that wears white robes or something similar.
3. 3rd most likely, the whole thing was made up.
4. Even in the extremely unlikely event that this was in fact a KKK recruiting drive, UU is a state university, and therefore if it has ever allowed any other organization to recruit in the dorms then it has no right to treat the Klan any differently.
As for someone finding crap on his door, that’s terrible, but why would anyone jump to the conclusion that it had anything to do with his race?
This isn’t a prank or genuine event. This is a bullshit story made up by a bunch of leftists who are trying to attract attention to themselves. Each one of these stories over the last 5 years has been proven to be a hoax committed by the leftists themselves.
No, that’s not true. A fair number turned out to be #1 or #2: Obvious pranks that hysterical and ignorant wokesters fell for, or legitimate events that hysterical and ignorant wokesters misunderstood. To them anyone wearing white is automatically a Klansman.
I know if I were a KKK member looking to recruit students in a 2021 college, I’d sure show up in full regalia. Perhaps the hoaxers didn’t consider this, because they’re the type of lamebrains who actually do think nothing of bringing USSR flags to public marches.
And how convenient it was that the s*-smearer left the residents a paper towel on the doorknob to clean it up. That’s a touch worthy of Jussie Smollet. It should have been a Subway napkin.
