School Reopening Impact On Teachers Unions In Labor Disputes Considered By Biden Admin, Emails Show

The Biden administration put the needs of teacher unions ahead of students and the guidelines for reopening schools, according to emails that have been made public.

If there’s one silver lining of the last two years, it’s that people can finally see that the Democratic party is utterly beholden to teacher unions.

Joe Schoffstall reports at FOX News:

White House considered teachers unions’ labor disputes before releasing reopening guidance, emails showWhite House officials considered ongoing labor disputes teachers unions were facing before releasing school reopening guidance to the public, emails show.Additionally, White House staffers facilitated a meeting between Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Rochelle Walensky and the head of the nation’s largest teachers union, National Education Association President Becky Pringle, the emails also show. The NEA official in that exchange later landed a Biden administration appointment to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which houses the CDC, according to a press clip from the department.Previously released emails showed that teachers unions had influenced the CDC on school reopenings. The guidelines included a phased reopening approach for K-12 schools based on coronavirus cases in the area.”These emails show time and time again that the White House inserted itself into the shaping of school guidance with a primary focus of accommodating teachers unions,” Caitlin Sutherland, executive director of Americans for Public Trust (APT), told Fox News. “However, the only thing the White House should have been focused on was how to get our children safely back into the classroom.”

The New York Post has more:

In one email from Feb. 8, four days before the guidance was revealed, HHS official Michael Baker told his colleagues that he had just gotten off a “call with the White House and Department of Education regarding the school reopening guidance” and added that “[w]e have some homework assignments.”Among those “assignments,” Baker wrote, was to “think about this in the broader context of teacher contract negotiations.”“Eduardo is going to connect with AJ on some of the mayor/labor union issues that are ongoing across the country,” added Baker — referring to White House COVID-19 intergovernmental affairs director Eduardo Cisneros and AJ Pearlman, chief of staff for COVID-19 response at HHS.Pearlman responded to Baker by thanking him for representing the department on the call before referencing another call where “this is all going to be discussed as well.”Days earlier, on Jan. 31, two White House officials helped get National Education Association president Becky Pringle into a meeting with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky.

Meanwhile, the New York Times is writing puff pieces about Randi Weingarten, the head of another teacher union:

Parents have to realize that these people do not have the best interests of their children in mind.

It’s all about money and political power.
