NYU Cancels Non-Essential Events Due to an Uptick in COVID Cases
“Our foremost priority is the health and well-being of NYU community members.”
It’s clear that most schools are taking no chances with COVID, but it also looks like they’re overreacting in many cases.
Newsmax reports:
NYU Cancels Nonessential Events Due to Surge in COVID-19 Cases
New York University on Wednesday canceled nonessential events following an uptick in COVID-19 cases, the school announced in a memo to the entire university.
Other colleges in the U.S. have also made changes over the last week due to a significant rise in cases over the fast-spreading omicron variant. Princeton University and Cornell on Wednesday said they were shifting all undergraduate final exams to a remote format and canceled or postponed all indoor gatherings where face coverings can’t be worn.
“The continuous review of the data from our COVID-19 testing program has indicated a considerable acceleration in the rate of new cases in our community,” NYU’s provost, Katherine Fleming, Executive Vice President Martin Dorph, and COVID-19 Prevention & Response Team executive lead Dr. Carlo Ciotoli, wrote in the memo.
“It’s not a cause for alarm, but it is a cause for concern, caution, and appropriate actions.”
“Our foremost priority is the health and well-being of NYU community members.

Idiots still acting as if “cases” mean something.
Okay, sanity check, please. NYU requires all students, faculty, employees, and campus visitors to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and to provide proof of vaccination as a condition of having access to NYU buildings. They also require booster jabs. How confident are they in the vaccines and boosters if they’re canceling all these events that would only be attended by fully-vaxxed and boostered people?
Why not just advise people that if they’re afraid, either stay away or wear a mask? In the case of the undergrad finals, do them remotely, wear a mask, or get on with your life and take the stupid test.
Hah, just give everyone “A”s so the poor tender hearts aren’t sad about the outcome of their huge investment in these once proud universities.
So phony.
This is what happens when you obsess on the number of diagnosed cases S opposed to the numbers of hospitalizations and ,God forbid fatalities
