Someone needs to give Biden’s COVID Response Coordinator Jeffrey Zients a lesson in public relations and common courtesy.
Also a lesson on how to speak to us plebes in flyover country because we do not take kindly to people threatening us or acting all high and mighty.
Zients had the nerve to tell the unvaccinated they face “a winter of severe illness and death for yourselves, your families, and the hospitals you may soon overwhelm.”
I will drop my Yankee mannerisms and use the Southern translation: BLESS YOUR HEART, ZIENTS.
Zients makes it better by admitting you can still get sick with the vaccine and booster:
Our vaccines work against Omicron, especially for people who get booster shots when they are eligible. If you are vaccinated, you could test positive. But if you do get COVID, your case will likely be asymptomatic or mild.
Zients issues an end-of-the-world warning to the unvaccinated but don’t panic:
We are prepared to confront this new challenge. We have plenty of vaccines and booster shots available at convenient locations and for no cost. There is clear guidance on masking to help slow the spread. And we have emergency medical teams to respond to surges as necessary.
So, this is not a moment to panic because we know how to protect people and we have the tools to do it. But we need the American people to do their part to protect themselves, their children, and their communities.
So do the vaccines and boosters work or not, bro? If they worked then no one would get it at all, asymptomatic or mild. Which one is it?
Stop trying to appeal to everyone. Anyone with common sense knows that the vaccines, like the flu and pneumonia, are not 100% guarantees you will not get sick.
Why? Because it’s a virus. There are so many strains out there. That is why people with flu and pneumonia shots still get sick. They just got a different strain than the one in the shot.
If you get the COVID vaccine to protect others then I hope you’re also getting the flu shot and stay updated on other vaccines like measles and mumps.

I’m not sure this messaging is helpful to the WH case for their mandate. The purpose of the vaccine mandate is to protect public health via a vaccine that prevents infection and transmission among groups of people. If the vaccine doesn’t reliably do that to a very high level of certainty but instead at a low level of efficacy then this isn’t a public health issue.
The vaccine does appear to minimize the severity of Covid symptoms in the vaccinated population. However that’s an individual benefit not a group or public health benefit. There’s a very analogous issue for which we have a moderately effective vaccine which individuals survive at a 99.5% + rate when infected that also concentrates severe outcomes in the elderly and those with compromised immune systems or other co-morbid health problems; the flu. We don’t mandate that vax, we have lot’s of exemptions and we don’t shut down schools or the economy.
Agreed. Getting vaccinated with a “vaccine” that protects only the vaccinated is a matter of personal, not public health.
The problem for the Biden administration is this Omicron variant is so mild I believe that maybe one person has died from it globally. I’d rather acquire natural immunity than turn my immune system into a government mandated subscription service, requiring updates from the pharmaceutical equivalent of Microsoft.

Yes indeed. The omicron variant has followed what is HS level knowledge regarding how virus progress. They mutate to a more transmissible but far less serious variant. That our public health officials seem to ignore this and the role of naturally acquired immunity in crafting policy recommendations and public policy debate is astounding to me. They are sacrificing all future credibility to maintain their narrative in support of their current Covid policies. I honestly don’t think the proponents understand how badly damaged their ability to influence and lead has become.

In the past, the local school district has shut down some schools for the flu, but it was the result of too many students and teachers being sick. And, it was school specific and they super cleaned the building during the down time.
The district also posts a list of C19 cases by school – I check it to see the activity in the closest elementary, middle and high schools. But, they are not reporting over the winter break. It will be interesting to watch in January. The last report had 109 cases or .4% of the students & staff. No big deal…

As you state the flu ‘shutdown’ in schools was in response to an outbreak that impacted staffing. The Covid school shutdowns were in anticipation of an outbreak. Quite the contrast, one being in response and one being made proactively.

Let’s go Brandon! (In other news, sadly CNN had to turn back their “days since CNN employee busted for pedophilia” clock back to zero).
3. Fauci is telling Americans that the masking requirement to fly commercial will never go away.
4. Now Biden is issuing a warm Christmas greeting to us filthy unvaxxed, telling us that “We are looking at a winter of severe illness and death, if you’re unvaccinated. For themselves, their family, and the hospital they’ll soon overwhelm.”

When Biden ran for president from his basement, with gatherings of just a few dozen supporters practicing social distancing in pre-placed circles on the floor once in a blue moon, I thought there were just 2 plausible explanations; one they knew they were going to lose and therefore didn’t put time, effort and money into the campaign, or two the fix was in and the win was assured no matter how little they campaigned. Certainly Biden and co. ran a laughable campaign.
Fast forward to Covid and those same cretins are pushing vaccines that don’t work, even harm, and they’re denying natural immunity and ostracizing those who have acquired it. Why? Because the vaccines accomplish something more important than (dubious) protection from Covid. Only time will tell what that is, but I suspect it has to do with oppression and control of the people, destroying body-autonomy and making people dependent on government health care and directives as they continue to destroy private health insurance and move toward medicare for all. Remember, Obamacare was written in a “tortured” way and the authors knew it would fail – thus it was a stepping stone to socialized medicine / single-payer. Also, with the profit from corruption Biden enjoyed with Ukraine under Obama now unavailable to him and Hunter, et al, no doubt the vaccine makers are now funneling kickbacks to the pols who push vaccines. If ever there were honest reporting on this pandemic, it will prove to be the biggest scandal of our lifetime, and the vaccines may well be this generation’s “thalidomide” lesson.
About this “spike in cases” that is driving this. Is holiday travel causing it? Not the gatherings but the requirement that those traveling by air are required to get tested first. And that people without symptoms are finding out they are “positive” as they seek clearance to fly. People who would never have been tested otherwise.

Well, lets see…. I live in a Communist-run hellhole city and had Covid last year. Refuse the clot shot because I read the Pfizer and Moderna clinical trial data early on. When I read was they eliminated their control groups in the second phase and more died in the “vaccine” group than the control group, that was all I needed to know. I already know what a clown show clinical trials tend to be now that vaccine manufacturers are immune to liability.. It’s now mid-December and I’ve yet to have even a cold. Everyone around me has been coughing and sneezing since October. Pretty sure I’m going to be just fine. I’m starting to wonder if there’s not going to be a few apartments opening up in my building this winter though.
