Roger Stone Threatens To Run Against Gov. DeSantis Over Election Audit In State Trump Won

Roger Stone is an albatross around President Trump’s neck.  The sooner Trump cuts him loose, the better.  No one with even half a brain takes the “Q-Anon” driblets of crazy seriously . . . with the exception of the Democrat propagandist media and the FBI (which should tell you all you need to know about “Q”).

Enter Stone, who says, “I certainly hope Q is real and there [are] a number of indications that the information that is being disseminated has been of enormous value in this fight for freedom.”  For those unfamiliar with this weirdo fringe freakshow, Q acolytes believe that America is run by pedophile Satan worshipers, most of whom are Jewish (yeah, I know, don’t ask), who have birthed insect- and/or lizard-alien hybrid humans and bathe in baby blood for fun, youth, and profit.

Marvel at the crazy.

So this crazy person with Q delusions has just threatened to run against Florida governor Ron DeSantis unless DeSantis orders an audit of the 2020 election.

Totally unrelated factoid:  Trump won Florida in 2020.  In fact, he racked up surprising (to the commies, anyway) gains in South Florida among Hispanic and Latino Americans.

So why try to coerce an audit on Florida elections with the threat of a loser like Stone running against DeSantis?  It makes less than zero sense, unless the goal is to undermine DeSantis by suggesting he had a part in “stealing” the election from Trump.  Again, though, Florida went to Trump, and quite early on election night, so what the heck is Stone doing?

The Hill reports:

Former Trump adviser Roger Stone said he “may be forced” to run for Florida governor if Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) does not audit votes cast in the state during the 2020 election.”If Gov. Ron DeSantis does not order a full audit of the Florida 2020 vote I may be forced to seek the Libertarian party nomination for governor in 2022,” Stone wrote on his Telegram channel on Sunday.”I heard governor Ron DeSantis say that Florida had the most honest election in our history in 2020 yet I know for a certainty there are 1 million phantom voters on the Florida voter rolls. These ‘voters’ simply do not exist,” he added on the platform to his roughly 20,000 subscribers without backing up the claim.

And then we get a glimmer of a motivation, via the Sun Sentinel:

Roger Stone, Trump’s longtime ally and confidante, says Gov. Ron DeSantis must audit the 2020 election in Florida — or Stone himself could run to become Florida’s governor. He says he also wants DeSantis to step up support for Donald Trump, who he considers the “strongest candidate” for president in 2024.

Ah, so the goal is to force DeSantis to kiss Trump’s ring in 2024 rather than run for the office himself. Well, okay, but this is just stupid. Why undermine a goal DeSantis has never publicly expressed?

All the eye rolls.

DeSantis won’t challenge Trump should Trump decide to run in 2024, and he’s made that very clear. So why the bizarre antics from Team Trump?

The Sun Sentinel continues:

Stone, of Fort Lauderdale, has known Trump for decades, serving as his informal adviser for much of the 2016 campaign. “If Florida governor Ron DeSantis does not order an audit of the 2020 election to expose the fact that there are over 1 million phantom voters on the Florida voter rolls in the Sunshine state I may be forced to seek the Libertarian party nomination for governor Florida in 2022 #ByeRon,” Stone posted on the social media platform Gab on Sunday.Stone challenged DeSantis to scrutinize the last presidential election — in a state that former President Trump won and where election officials have asserted no fraud happened.DeSantis isn’t doing enough to help Trump, Stone told the South Florida Sun Sentinel on Monday. “I would also like the governor to declare his support for a 2024 presidential bid by President Trump which he has not done,” Stone said via text message. “I cannot speculate as to why the governor has not urged the former president to run but I feel strongly that President Trump would be the strongest candidate.”A spokeswoman for DeSantis resent a statement from the Secretary of State that said the 2020 election “was accurate, transparent, and conducted in compliance with Florida law. Florida has already conducted both pre- and post-elections audits, and we are confident in the security and integrity of our 2020 election results.”Press Secretary Christina Pushaw also said the office would not comment on political or campaign matters when asked about Stone’s complaint about the lack of an endorsement for Trump. “Governor DeSantis is focused on doing the best he can for Floridians as governor of our state,” she said.DeSantis recently told Fox News that he was running for re-election as governor next year — although he hasn’t filed as of Monday.Stone wrote that he had “no allusions about being elected governor but I may have to take action so that voters who share my views should have an alternative in the next election.”

Stone will never be elected governor of Florida (or even head dog-catcher anywhere in the state, including my deep red, pro-Trump county); Stone’s a disaster. What Trump is doing with this guy is a mystery, but like his other questionable connections, it does not reflect well on the former president.
