You just know that wimpy whiners like smarmy Mittens McRomneyCare and Liz let’s find some country to bomb Cheney are horrified by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. He has been described as Trump without the Twitter fury and as Trumpian with polish, and he is hugely appealing to the GOP base.
Unlike (say) Romney and Cheney who are ridiculous dinosaurs clinging to “compassionate conservatism” (i.e. progressivism, lite and slow) and their war-mongering glory days of yore, DeSantis understands not only what the GOP base is hungry for in terms of standing ground and fighting back but that a shift is required from groveling and “measured” milquetoast defense to full-on, pull-no-punches offense in dealing with the leftists and their media propagandists (plus Big Tech enforcers, etc.).
And DeSantis is not afraid to say so . . . directly to Republicans. He urges the GOP to stand up, to stand up to the press, to the commie left, to Big Tech, and most importantly to stand up for the American people.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis didn’t hold back at a Washington, DC Republican dinner where he shredded the media and warned conservatives “we don’t have time for boneless wonders,” referring to spineless GOP politicians.DeSantis started out by excoriating the media for never apologizing for promoting the false Russian collusion conspiracy that was intended to smear former President Trump. He remarked that the media loves to “gaslight” and smear people.“You’ve got a press that for over two years created a fake conspiracy theory involving Russian collusion. I was in Congress when that started. I was only one of a handful of people who knew that was BS from the beginning. But they did it. And they milked it. And was all because they disagreed with the outcome of the 2016 election,” DeSantis said.“They talked about complaining about 2020? They never accepted Donald Trump. They created and manufactured a conspiracy theory to try to drive him out office and to kneecap him and his presidency and we know it was false. We know that there was no truth to it,” he asserted.“Have any of them actually apologized?” DeSantis asked ostensibly referring to Special Counsel Robert Mueller finding no evidence to support the charges. “Heck, have any of them even said, ‘We were wrong about that’? No, they give each other awards. They actually award Pulitzer Prizes for reporting false stories.”“So that’s where we are,” he noted. “They gaslight. They display partisanship. They smear people. It’s all to create a blizzard of lies, trying to blind the American people from the actual truth. And so we live in Orwellian times in which the powers that be want to tell us that up is down and left is right,” DeSantis contended.
DeSantis is right, of course, and he’s also pointing out that none of this was because of Donald Trump. Any Republican who won in 2016 would have been treated the same way, and we know that because we saw progressive nominal Republican McRomneyCare accused of causing cancer, accused of dog abuse, being wrong about Russia and China, accused on the Senate floor of being a tax cheat, and being a “binders full of women” misogynist.
Romney would have been impeached and investigated and given the Goebbels media treatment . . . and he would have folded faster than a poker player with a deuce-seven off-suit in Texas hold ’em. Heck, he would have resigned in disgrace because that’s just who he is. The GOP base, as DeSantis correctly notes, does not respect “boneless wonders” and wants no part of them.

That type of society goes after the truth-tellers more than anything because they understand those who tell the truth represent a threat to their power. So in times like these, there is no substitute for courage. Courage in the face of a dishonest press. Courage to stare down things like cancel culture. Courage to speak up for those in America, many of whom don’t have a voice,” he continued.“Winston Churchill told a story during the appeasement in the 1930s when he was in the Parliament,” the conservative governor recounted. “And he talked about when he was a kid, the Barnum & Bailey was coming to town and there was an act that was just too grotesque for human eyes. His nanny wouldn’t let him go see it. It was called the ‘boneless wonder.’ And he said, ‘I think now, where is this boneless wonder?’ He said it’s now no longer in the circus; it’s in the front row of the House of Commons.” DeSantis stated. “These are people that weren’t standing up against Adolf Hitler.”“So right now conservatives, we don’t have time for boneless wonders,” he admonished them. “You get elected to office, you need to be willing to stand up. Stand up against the press. … You stand up and you’re strong in your convictions, there are millions and millions of people out there that will be with you forever. The minute you go up there and you’re scared of the media, you’re scared they’re going to say bad things about you and you cave, those voters have no use for you after that,” he told the room.“So I can only tell you for me, I’m gonna keep walking the line. I am gonna stand my ground. I am not backing down. We’ve accomplished an awful lot in the state of Florida, but I can tell you this: I’ve only begun to fight,” DeSantis concluded as he was given a standing ovation.
This is a winning message, and if the GOP actually embraced it, they would be unbeatable because DeSantis is right, there are millions upon millions of Americans who want to see someone, anyone, stand up for and defend America.
The vast majority of the American people want someone to say we are not a racist nation, that we are actually and undeniably exceptional, and that we will not take a knee to the joyless, heartless, truly racist and misogynist cancel culture left in all its divisive and destructive forms across every American institution from the military to K-12 education and universities to the media to law and to healthcare and beyond.
The GOP is often referred to, by its own voters, as the “Stupid Party.” Something has changed in recent years, though, and DeSantis is exactly right. Today’s Republican voters are over voting for the Smarmy Amnesty McLet’s Start a War types just because they sport an (R) that, to many Republican and right-leaning Indies, might as well be a Skittle-pooping unicorn icon.
Those once-reliable Republican voters are no longer ready to reluctantly soft support or half-heartedly defend–or, most importantly, to actually pull a vote for–wimpy progressive Republicans who won’t stand up to the un- and anti-American onslaught and who are unwilling or unable to defend our nation and her people. Can the GOP figure that out? In time to win Congressional majorities in 2022 and the White House in 2024?
DeSantis lays out an easy and clear shift the party needs to make, but to quote Obama on Biden, never underestimate the GOP’s ability to “f*ck things up.”
