Smug San Francisco Mayor London Breed Perversely Slams Critics as ‘Fun Police’

There is a pandemic in this country that is threatening our way of life.

No, it is not the coronavirus. Our problem is with chronic smugness, as evidenced by San Francisco Mayor London Breed.

Legal Insurrection readers may recall Breed was out in a very public venue with no mask, despite the rigorous mask mandate she imposed on the city.

Authoritative San Francisco Mayor London Breed said in August the city must bring back the indoor mask mandate. Only very few people can go without a mask indoors. Our lives depend on it, y’all!Weird. On Thursday, Breed partied her heart out at Black Cat nightclub with BLM co-founder Alicia Garza. Neither one wore masks.

After she was deluged with criticism for her blatant hypocrisy, Breed smugly accused her critics of being “Fun Police.”

In defending herself, she claimed everyone was vaccinated and that she was ‘feeling the spirit’ and ‘wasn’t thinking about a mask.’Despite the outrage online about her breaking her own city mandates, she said she and her fellow nightclub goers don’t need the ‘fun police.”We don’t need the fun police to micromanage us and tell us what we should or shouldn’t be doing,’ she said in a press conference on Saturday.

Unfortunately, politicians who do not face serious challenges in reelections often begin behaving like royalty. Sadly, despite the fact this country was supposed to reward based on merit and not on aristocratic connections, we are creating a breed of nobility that do not feel the need to live by the rules they impose upon others.

This hasn’t been Breed’s only brush with mask hypocrisy, either.

This isn’t the first time Mayor Breed has been slammed for her actions during the pandemic.Last November, she was criticized for gathering with people from outside her household for a dinner at the French Laundry during a fall COVID surge. While she wasn’t violating health protocols, she seemed to defy warnings she had issued the week before about gathering with big groups.

Breed clearly enjoys the “sophisticated people’s immunity” against both the coronavirus and the consequences of rule-breaking.
