Hillary Campaign Lawyer Michael Sussmann Indicted for Allegedly Lying to FBI in Russia Probe

Hillary Campaign Lawyer Michael Sussmann Indicted for Allegedly Lying to FBI in Russia Probe

He’s accused of not telling the FBI he was working for Hillary’s campaign when he pushed the government to investigate ties between Trump and Russia.

A federal grand jury indicted DNC/Fusion GPS/Hillary Clinton lawyer Michael Sussmamnn for allegedly lying to the FBI during the Russia investigation.

It turns out Sussmann’s lies initiated the investigation into Trump’s campaign.

From Fox News:

Sussmann, whose firm had previously represented the Democratic National Committee, told the FBI’s James Baker in Sep. 2019 that he was not representing a client when pushing for an investigation into Trump. Sussmann denied any wrongdoing, while withholding the fact that he was working on behalf of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

Lawyers for Sussmann say that he “has committed no crime” and that prosecuting him “would be baseless, unprecedented and an unwarranted deviation from the apolitical and principled way in which the Department of Justice is supposed to do its work.”

“We are confident that if Mr. Sussmann is charged, he will prevail at trial and vindicate his good name,” they said.

The indictment reminds everyone that outlets reported a few weeks before election day in 2016 about supposed secret channels between Trump’s campaign and a Russian bank.

One article mentioned how the FBI spent weeks investigating this alleged channel and had damning information about potential ties between Trump and Russia.

From the indictment:

The FBI had, in fact, initiated an investigation of these allegations in response to a meeting that MICHAEL A. SUSSMANN, the defendant herein – a lawyer at a major international law firm (“Law Firm-1”) – requested and held with the FBI General Counsel on or about September 19, 2016 at FBI Headquarters in the District of Columbia. SUSSMANN provided to the FBI General Counsel three “white papers” along with data files allegedly containing evidence supporting the existence of this purported secret communications channel.

The indictment alleges that Sussmann lied to the FBI during the meeting “about the capacity in which he was providing the allegations to the” agents.

“Specifically, SUSSMAN stated falsely that he was not doing his work on the aforementioned allegations ‘for any client,’ which led the FBI General Counsel to understand that SUSSMAN was acting as a good citizen merely passing along information, not as a paid advocate or political operative.”

The grand jury wrote that Sussmann did not tell the FBI he “acted on behalf of specific clients,” including a technology industry executive, internet company, and Hillary’s campaign.

The grand jury accuses Sussmann of depriving “the FBI of information that might have permitted it more fully to assess and uncover the origins of the relevant data and technical analysis.” That information includes the names and motivations of his clients.

On page 23, the grand jury alleges Sussmann repeated the false statement to another government agency “on or about February 9, 2017.” He met with two agents of this agency, identified as “Agency-2,” outside of DC.

Hey, we found a fish so small to indict that he would make a minnow look like a meal.

Oh, and we will let him off with community service and 12 months probation.

    Why so harsh?

The government spied on a campaign. Covered it up. FBI and DOJ coordinated the cover up with each other and the media.

Abused FISA and warrant and unmasking power in the process.

Peddled false information to the media to influence the public in ways completely inappropriate to their roles.

Tried to hamstring a presidency in the process and generate a reason to impeach over baseless rumors.

Tried to entrap innocent people associated with the Trump campaign.

Altered testimony, as in the Flynn case, while trying to ruin a man on bogus charges.

I dunno. Remind me why I should be happy with one crumb of an indictment filed on the last day before the statue of limitations expired on one of the most minor participants?

Justice for me, not for thee, is the new Deep State motto.

Look at the Nasser case for evidence of the corruption of the FBI. A criminal referral squashed by the DOJ. Look at the treatment of BLM vs Jan 6th protestors.

We live in a “2 rules” society where the FBI faces no consequence for lying on their interview notes while they can falsify them and get a conviction against you and face a slap on the wrist.

And so much more where nothing happened when it should have …

But tell me why you are happy with this, what your prediction is on the trial (if there is one) outcome, and how many more indictments you expect?

Because my expectations are low, and my prediction is very little else and slap on the wrist sentences. Not what I want, just my prediction.

And until equal justice for all is delivered, people should be upset and be harsh in their judgment IMO.

Because this was already known within DoJ before July 2016, but they continued their hit job anyway. Unless Durham has a few more of these up his sleeve this is nothing more than a DoJ stalling process CYA.

So who was ramrodding the federal grand jury? For sure, it’s not anybody in the FBI bringing charges.

A lawyer that worked for Hillary? I’m surprised he’s still alive.

DIRTY TRICKS

What did Hillary know – and when did she know it?

It is inconceivable that Sussman took it upon himself to initiate this without the prior knowledge and consent of top people in the Clinton campaign and likely Hillary Clinton herself.

He better go into the witness protection program.

Will he cooperate with investigators against Hillary? If he does, there is at least a 50% she gets indicted. Most lawyers don’t do well in prison. To them 3 months feels like 3 years. So he may want to cooperate.

      Corruption at the very top.

    SHOCKING — HE IMPLICATES HILLARY

On page 25 and 26 of the indictment – he says his “client”” directed him to initiate this dirty trick.

Anyone think 57 news organizations will now be camped outside Hillary Clinton’s home — just as they would if Trump had been implicated in such a crime ? Anyone ? Likely 2 reporters will call her for comment and twitter and Facebook with censor what ever they report.

Hillary Clinton committed heinous captial crimes, over and over and over. William Barr and Jeff Sessions covered for her.

Now Pelosi has committed high treason with Milley. Let’s see who covers for her.

TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME DESTROYS ANOTHER CAREER

Amazing how dozens of previously well-respected and seemingly-rational people have literally lost their minds with HATRED for Trump and done despicable things and ended up ruining their career.

Trump is not the most likeable guy. He wants to be respected more than loved. But is it really worth it to so many people to lose their reputation and professional career just to spite that one man ?

Trump’s super-power is getting under the skin of his opponents.

Sussmann wasn’t indicted for “allegedly” doing anything…he was indicted for lying to the FBI… period. Getting really tired of the lawyer-ese.

Hopefully, up the chain it goes. Looks like Durham may have more, but was forced to file this due to the statute of limitations Will Elias be ensnared? Fingers crossed.

So will this stop the clock ticking on Hilary’s statute of limitations? She’s been running out the clock on more than one crime.

We know with certainty that the whole scheme was a lie. ANYONE who offered the FBI a statement of alleged “fact” committed a crime. Why isn’t there a whole list of people being indicted?

Why waste time, just give him 6 month probation and call it done.

The whole Russian episode paralyzed the Trump administration for nearly three years (Congressional Investigations and Mueller) but the indictment its clear that Congress knew, from Sussmann’s testimony, that the information was bought and paid for by HRC! If Sussmann is the only indictment, damn. What a fraud they pulled off on the American people and Congress.

Let’s see if he rolls. He doesn’t strike me as a guy loyal enough to voluntarily do time when he could provide information to eliminate or reduce his potential consequences.

This is a diversionary tactic to suggest that Dems are apolitical when in power.

As said previously, this is a small fish and the Steele Dossier participants will go untouched as will little Miss Bleach Bit.

I believe you are and others are missing the point. Sussman is NOT a small fish. He is THE link that connects everything to Hilary opening up the path to take her down. The political motives behind his lying will quickly expose her to possible legal consequences… if the DOJ does its job.

Hopefully, it will at least keep the case going until the current administration self-destructs and is not replaced by another Uniparty criminal.

Michael Sussmann did not kill himself.

felixrigidus in reply to thalesofmiletus. | September 17, 2021 at 4:17 am

    9/17 Staff Writers.
Michael Sussman has committed suicide today at 1 am while in FBI custody. FBI officials are at a loss how Sussman could turn off the cameras, overwhelm Superspecial Agent Smith who was handpicked and trained by former FBI Director Comey himself, take Superspecial Agent Smith’s service sidearm, and proceed to empty several high capacity magazines shooting himself in the back of his head with hundreds of bullets within the span of just 30 seconds that continue to haunt Superspecial Agent Smith.
At yesterday’s joined press conference held by Former First Lady Clinton and Speaker of the House Pelosi, the prominent Democrats accused Republicans of preventing sensible gun control legislation that would have prevented the tragic death of lawyer Sussman. “If there had been a requirement for a federal background check for people intending to steal service weapons this never would have happened,” the Speaker of the House said “Republicans blocked the ban on assault rifles with high capacity magazines as standard issue FBI weaponry for Superspecial Agents like Superspecial Agent Smith,” Ms. Pelosi continued in the 9/16 press briefing. Ms. Clinton added “It is a tragedy. Superspecial Agent Smith, who has a lovely family that was in no way threatened by anyone at all, will have to live with the haunting images of Sussmann killing himself for a long time.” Taking a sip of white wine she propsed a toast “Smith better stick to that narrative.”
At least 200 anonymous sources have revealed to this Grey Lady Paper of Record Where Democracy Goes to Die In Darkness that the FBI will be “investigating how Sussmann will have been able to kill himself by overwhelming Superspecial Agents Smith and using his service side arm to shoot himself multiple times..”

#ToldYouSo

If a “good citizen,” without client, approaches the FBI with information that a candidate for president is collaborating with the Russians, does it even pass the smell test? If you’re the FBI agent, don’t you start tracking that “informant”? This shows just how incompetent and biased the FBI is. It has taken 5 years to get to this point. It’s outrageous. This is the tip of the iceberg and, yet, is already evidence of a greater threat to democracy than a bunch of idiots breaking into the Capitol.

Please let him have sexually harassed someone. Without that, what chance do we have at justice? /s

After all this all we got is a Scooty Libby

Are we to believe the best-of-the-best in the FBI was taken in by a criminal mastermind attorney acting on his own, without the approval of Hillary’s campaign, and they didn’t suspect a thing.

This is the same FBI that has tracked, hunted down, and arrested with a SWAT team every grandma and grandpa that took selfies, while carefully staying within the velvet ropes, in the Capital building on Jan 6. The same FBI that sent a platoon of agents to investigate a garage pull rope handle.

And yet they had no friggin’ idea that they were being fed oppo-research by Hillary’s campaign. Oppo-researched that included information obtained illegally.

This may seem like a small fish, but it is quite likely that this is the most important case in the long term. We have to stop political operatives from coercing the FBI/DOJ into doing their political dirty work. This is what Sussmann tried successfully to do.

“We have to stop political operatives from coercing a very receptive, willing, enthusiastic, chomping-at-the-bit, and partisan the FBI/DOJ into doing their political dirty work.”

We need to do something about the italicized part I added, too.

If democrats didn’t have double standards, they’d have no standards at all.
MICHAEL A. SUSSMANN is survived by…..

Is Hillary Clinton your client?

It all depends on what the definition of is, is.

Everyone who was aware of the plan to send Sussmann in to lie to the FBI about the Alpha Bank/Trump fraud could be charged with the crime of “conspiracy to defraud the United States” if Durham chooses and can document their knowledge.

It carries the same 5 year penalty as the “lying to the feds charge.” It could also be added to the Sussmann charges.

FortesFortunaJuvat in reply to Rabel. | September 17, 2021 at 8:42 pm

Conspiracy can carry a sentence of up to life in prison. Which I must admit wouldn’t be too much for any of them.

I will call small cap b.s. Like Baker and everyone else didn’t know who Sussman worked for.

FortesFortunaJuvat | September 17, 2021 at 8:41 pm

Hate to disagree but, he wasn’t indicted for “allegedly” doing anything. He was indicted for outright lying to the FBI.

We live in the era of William Barr/Jeff Sessions: an era totally of their making.
