Democrats Counting on Kamala Harris to Help Them Get Out the Vote in 2022 Midterms

In addition to the stellar work she has done managing the crisis at the southern border, and overseeing the return of small businesses, Democrats are now going to rely on Kamala Harris to help them drive voter turnout in the 2022 midterm elections.

What could go wrong?

The Hill reports:

Democrats see Harris as major player in midtermsDemocrats expect Vice President Harris to be a major player in revving up the party’s liberal base ahead of next year’s midterm elections.Harris’s allies believe she will play a significant role, both by fundraising and participating in campaign rallies.Democrats see Harris as uniquely positioned to drive up turnout among young people and women, who they believe will be critical to Democrats retaining their majorities in Congress. Historical trends suggest that Republicans should have an edge in the midterm elections, and Democrats say a strong turnout will be key for the party to keep power.“She is very popular with the base. She is particularly strong with women and with young people. Turn out for young people is going to be critical for the midterms and it is uncertain,” said Celinda Lake, a Democratic pollster who advised President Biden’s campaign. “Between turnout and swing independent women, I would think she would be quite aggressive because of her own appeal and popularity.”

Oh, she’s popular with the base? That’s a good thing, because she’s not very popular with anyone else.

In August, Ashe Schow wrote at the Daily Wire:

Kamala Harris Is The Most Unpopular Vice President In 50 Years, Polls ShowVice President Kamala Harris has only been in office for six months, but she is already the most unpopular vice president since at least the 1970s, according to recent polls. The Los Angeles Times on Monday reported that as of July 27, “45% of registered voters had a favorable opinion of Harris and 48% had an unfavorable opinion — a net rating of -3 percentage points, according to a Times average.”The most recent YouGov tracking poll shows that Harris’ unfavorability rating has hit 49%, while her favorability rating sits at just 45%.Harris’ unpopularity is worse than former Vice President Mike Pence’s was six months into his tenure, according to The Telegraph. The outlet reported that around this same time in 2017, Pence’s unfavorability rating sat at 41.9%, while his favorability rating was 42.1%. Pence may have been helped by a massive media focus on then-President Donald Trump and false accusations that he was a Russian agent who colluded with Russia to steal the 2016 election.

At least her poll numbers aren’t as bad as Biden’s.
