The school will be better off without these professors. It’s amazing how angry the left is over this nothing-burger of an issue.

Chapelboro reports:

UNC Professors Leaving the University in the Wake of Nikole Hannah-Jones Tenure Inaction

At least three professors of color announced they are leaving the university for other opportunities in the past week alone and the UNC Student Body President wrote an open letter calling for a university-wide reckoning.

The Carolina Black Caucus, a coalition of Black administrators, faculty, alumni, staff and graduate students, said at its meeting last week that 70% of the 30 attendees at the meeting are considering leaving the university and more than 60% are actively searching for other job opportunities.

The potential exodus of Black faculty comes in the wake of the Board of Trustees not giving Nikole Hannah-Jones tenure.

One of those departing faculty members is Kia Caldwell, a former professor of African American and Diaspora Studies. She has been named the vice provost for faculty affairs and diversity at the University of Washington in St. Louis. She is just the latest in a string of professors to leave the university.

UNC law professor and member of the UNC Faculty Executive Committee, Eric Mueller said professors leaving the university is a “crisis.”

Good Riddance. No much academic value to this bunch.
Their entire academic purpose is to hate -on America, fuel racism and rewrite history

Several BLACK professors who are members of BLACK organizations are leaving because if this tenure flap over a BLACK not getting tenure. I see a pattern.

Do any of those people teach anything useful?

It says they are leaving for OTHER OPPORTUNITIES. (I bet for more money)

That is, they would have left anyway so why not get a jab in at the old school on the way out the door?

Somehow, I am the opposite of sympathetic.

three, we’re in full blown crisis mode ( sarc). They’ll just find younger , cheaper bodies to replace them

So they are leaving because a liar with no teaching experience, no doctoral degree and whose work was proven to be deliberately wrong is denied tenure, yet still has a five year guarantee of employment? Sounds like they were worried the Trustees might start looking into their work too.

Okay, so 30 members of this “coalition” of administrators, staff, faculty, grad students and alumni holds a meeting last week where a whole 21 people say they’re considering leaving and 18 are actually searching for other job opportunities if the university doesn’t offer tenure to this partisan hack, Nikole Hannah-Jones.

In the first place, how many tenured professors at this or any other university have a masters degree instead of a PhD?

Second, according to UNC’s own numbers, the 30 attendees at this meeting account for less than 0.8% of the total 3887 members of the university faculty (not including administrators or staff). In an organization that large I think it would be unusual if you didn’t find more than 21 people who were considering leaving or looking for other opportunities.

Bye.

I hardly think that the loss of a professor of anything “professor of “studies” doesn’t have much of an effect on anything other than by providing easy courses to lazy students seeking to virtue signal while asleep. Washington University is the perfect place for this “professor.” It students and idiot parents are alway eager to pay more for indoctrination. They WANT to be trained in ideology much the same way a labrador retriever WANTS to be trained to hunt.

Good. May many more follow their example. The more the better.

A minor correction from a Carolina alum: One of the departing professors, Malinda Lowery, is a Lumbee Indian and not African American. Her scholarly work is solid but she’s very woke.

Good. More room for professors who are less leftist.

Minority faculty are in high demand, and negotiate higher salaries than white faculty with similar credentials. I wonder what is distorting that market?
