Biden Hosting Huge July 4th Party After Telling States, Citizens Not to Hold Large Gatherings

President Joe Biden will host a large Independence Day gathering on July 4 after telling states not to have celebrations and even denying some permits to hold fireworks.

The White House encouraged officials to host their own events, but I cannot imagine anyone would have an easy time organizing something so big in only two-and-a-half weeks.

From The Associated Press:

The planned celebration will be the largest event of Biden’s presidency and is designed to demonstrate the nation’s victory over the virus as COVID-19 cases and deaths drop to levels not seen since the first days of the outbreak. The U.S. is seeing its highest rate of air travel since the pandemic began, and schools, businesses and restaurants are rapidly reopening. To celebrate the resumption of pre-pandemic life, Biden is looking to celebrate the July Fourth holiday as “a summer of freedom.”He plans to host first responders, essential workers and military service members and their families on the South Lawn of the White House for a cookout and to watch the fireworks over the National Mall. More than 1,000 guests are expected, officials said. The plan shows the dramatic shift in thinking since Biden cautiously held out hope just three months ago that people might be able to hold small cookouts by the Fourth.

The administration wrote: “America is headed into a summer dramatically different from last year. A summer of freedom. A summer of joy. A summer of reunions and celebrations.”

Yeah, a lot of us opened up in May. A lot of us have been going about our usual business because we don’t need Daddy Government to hold our hand.

Couldn’t the administration have said something months ago instead of waiting until the last minute? Biden said in March that if you wear your mask like a good girl or boy then he would grant you permission to have a small barbeque with your family:

Because here’s the point: If we do all this, if we do our part, if we do this together, by July the 4th, there’s a good chance you, your families, and friends will be able to get together in your backyard or in your neighborhood and have a cookout and a barbeque and celebrate Independence Day. That doesn’t mean large events with lots of people together, but it does mean small groups will be able to get together.

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem erupted over the news. She has every right to be angry because Biden’s administration denied her a permit to have fireworks at Mount Rushmore.

A judge upheld Biden’s decision in early June.

I guess Noem has two weeks to put together her big celebration. It is a shame because even though I hate fireworks it’s cool to see them over Mount Rushmore.

I mean, did any of us wait to see if Daddy Government would allow us to celebrate our independence from the redcoats? Not me! I already made plans with my family like we did last year. Nothing changed.

But for officials like Noem, I say JUST DO IT. Celebrate our independence. Not independence from the virus but what we should celebrate every day: Freedom.
