Anti-Racist White Teacher Claims She Stopped Teaching Spanish to Dismantle White Supremacy

“Learning Spanish from a white woman? I wish I could go back and tell my students not to learn power or correctness from this white woman”

At some point, you have to wonder if some of these woke teacher types are just trying to outdo each other. This almost seems like parody.

The Blaze reports:

‘Anti-racist’ white teacher stopped teaching Spanish to students because she is ‘dismantling white supremacy in society’

A white teacher proclaimed that she is “dismantling white supremacy in society” by not teaching Spanish to her students. The anti-racist teacher proclaimed that she is holding herself accountable for her skin color by grappling with her own “internalized white supremacy.”

Jessica Bridges is a Ph.D. candidate at the College of Education and Human Sciences at Oklahoma State University. She made “anti-racism and white women’s complicity” her dissertation topic.

Bridges spoke at Southern Connecticut State University’s Virtual Women’s and Gender Studies Conference, a two-day event in late April that focused on “Gender, Race, Community & Conflict: Pursuing Peace and Justice.” The conference included presentations such as “Diverging Feminisms: Engaging Transnational/Translational Activism,” “Sex, Work, & Care as Resistance in the Age of Capitalism,” “Undoing the White Settler-Colonial Gaze: Asserting Gendered, Racialized, and Radicalized Body Autonomy,” “Understanding Your Vicarious Trauma during COVID-19 and Beyond,” and “Igniting Social Justice, Community Engagement, and Diversity within the Neoliberal Academy.”

Bridges spoke during the “White Accountability & Anti-Racist Education” presentation.

The meeting started off with a “land acknowledgment,” which is a “formal statement that recognizes and respects Indigenous Peoples as traditional stewards of this land and the enduring relationship that exists between Indigenous Peoples and their traditional territories,” according to Northwestern University.

“Dismantling white supremacy in society looks like dismantling in my heart, first,” Bridges said, as reported by the Post Millennial. “It means I’m not going to teach Spanish. Accountability is ongoing because there is not end to the process.”

It should be noted that the Spanish language came from Europe. It was a mix of Latin language and local languages of the inhabitants of the Iberian Peninsula, including Celts and Iberians, according to Lingvist.

“Learning Spanish from a white woman? I wish I could go back and tell my students not to learn power or correctness from this white woman,” she said of herself. “I would tell them to stand in their own power. White isn’t right.”

Here’s the simple state of things today:

Normal people are right.

Crazy people are not.

Lots of people will go along with crazy people if they get something in return.

Let’s face it: We are dealing with mental cases here.

I’m sure her union backs her 100%.

“Learning Spanish from a white woman? I wish I could go back and tell my students not to learn power or correctness from this white woman,” she said of herself.”

Sounds like an admission that she can’t teach anybody but white students. Not only is that racist, it doesn’t satisfy her job description.

Fire her immediately.

What do we do with the Hispanic teaches teaching English?

um… pretty sure, my first Spanish teacher was a white woman – from SPAIN, the center and origin of the Spanish language. (and, a cause of much confusion when I took a second Spanish class in the southwest, and my Castilian pronunciation and vocabulary got me corrections I was not expecting)

Castilian is power, and people snap to attention when they hear it in Latin America. But if it’s your teacher with power over you, hooboy. Is this white woman in the video saying she doesn’t want students to have the privilege of Castilian pronunciation?

If so, find another teacher who wants to help you, not atone for who-knows-what.

I grew up on the Mexican border. We were farmers, employed very few people, but those that we did were certainly not legally here. None of them spoke English well, mostly not at all. I worked with these guys daily, became good friends. If we were going to communicate, it was going to be in Mexican. One long time employee took it upon himself to teach me. I was not a great pupil. I picked up a very marginal spoken ability in his Mexican dialect. I could follow conversations well enough to know what was going on and haltingly participate. It was a totally spoken language to me, although I could read it somewhat.

About half the school system were ethnic Mexicans. They typically conversed among themselves in Spanish. It was helpful to know what they were talking about.

We left when I was in my early teens. No further exposure of significance.

In my late 30’s, I had a business trip to Madrid. I turned on the TV, wondering if I could follow anything. Back when, I could follow Spanish language radio, sort of. It might as well have been Martian. For a day or so–when I realized that the Castilian version lisps. Then I started picking up a bit of it. Most of it was just time, but the lisp didn’t help.

At least this woman admits that she is incompetent to teach.

My wife (100% Hispanic) is currently taking Spanish from a White woman. This white woman was born in Spain, and is a native Spanish speaker. She teaches Castilian Spanish rather than the Mexican Spanish that my in-laws used to speak.

So the Ed-school idiot says that people aren’t supposed to teach their native tongue if they are White. This sounds like much of the “woke” nonsense that goes around these days.

Did anybody inform this a**hole that Spaniards are “white”?

Spanish is a EUROPEAN language, firmly in the Romance branch of the linguistic tree. It was originally spoken by WHITE Europeans.

If she wants to disassociate herself with the language of Spanish colonialism, I hope she’s prepared to teach Kickapoo, Chichimeca Jonaz, or one of the other 63 indigenous languages recognized by the Mexican government. Otherwise, she needs to shut up and go away.

People too stupid to breathe have no business teaching kids.

I guess she could always fall back on teaching first-graders to masterbate like the private-school teachers in the People’s Republic of New York.

This was from the Babylon Bee? Please tell me that is so.

This is ludicrous.
If she’s so serious, and those like her, please stop using the inventions of white people. No more automobiles, air travel, trains, TV, much of modern medicine, etc.
Please stop the madness, share what’s good for all, be kind to one another, and tell the truth.

Lesson learned from my 21 years’ experience in higher education administration at a major land grant university:

Having “Ph.D.” after your name is no guarantee you aren’t bat-s**t crazy.

Students are better off not having a racist Spanish teacher.

She shouldn’t be teaching anyone anything–I can imagine how effective she’s going to be after this has gone viral–those that can’t apparently are idiots and sign up to teach at universities

Mine was white, from Mexico. Yes, SJWs, there are white Mexicans and they are st the top of the social order. That is because Mexico really IS “racist” in that social ranking depends heavily on racial “purity”.

Does she believe only Greeks should be allowed to teach geometry and history? Or only white people born in the U.K. should be allowed to teach English?
