This is happening at the school of engineering, but it’s probably safe to assume it happens in other schools as well. When did we start segregating graduations in this way?

Multicultural Graduation Ceremonies: Graduate RegistrationCongratulations to you, the Class of 2021 in Columbia College, Columbia Engineering, General Studies and Barnard College! This registration page is for graduating seniors of our undergraduate schools who would like to participate as graduates in our virtual ceremonies.Graduates must register by Sunday, March 21 in order to secure their multicultural graduation gift (e.g. stole, tassel, pin or other gift). - FLI Graduation (First-generation and/or low income community): Tuesday, April 27 at 7:00 p.m. EDT
- Latinx Graduation: Thursday, April 29 at 6:00 p.m. EDT
- Black Graduation: Friday, April 30 at 4:00 p.m. EDT
