UC-Riverside Gender Studies Prof Cancels Finals and Gives Everyone 100 Percent

In the professor’s defense, isn’t this the class where you would kind of expect everyone to get an A?

Gender studies prof cancels all finals, gives students 100 percent
Brandon Andrew Robinson — a gender studies professor at the University of California-Riverside — announced on social media that he had canceled his final exams and had given every student a “100.”
“I canceled my students’ final and just gave them all 100 on it,” said Robinson. “And I structured my winter classes around not having a final. I don’t know, maybe we should just abandon the construct that is the final.”
“I mean, is there any studies or proof that shows that finals are good? Or actually do something?” he continued.
Robinson — who operates under the Twitter handle @DrKittyGirl — is the author of Coming Out to the Streets: Gender, Sexuality, and LGBTQ Youth Homelessness. The book, published by the University of California Press, is a “multi-site ethnographic study on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) youth homelessness in central Texas.”

Sounds like a good basis for termination of the “teacher”. Those students should receive Incomplete for the semester and be compelled to retake the course or forfeit the credits.

Yes. Gender studies. Along with all of the other studies majors. And this is at a state funded University. That translates to taxpayer dollars.
Studies department should be the playthings a private universities. This sort of thing should not be on the backs of the taxpayers.

When I was in college, I learned that finals were supposed to measure a student’s mastery of the material covered in that term. Is the professor saying that it doesn’t matter if the students learned the material? If so, just admit that the area of study is useless, the class exists solely to generate revenue for the school to pay your salary and worthless credit hours for students, and you work for a diploma mill.
Until the college gets serious and gets rid of its “studies” classes, I have to agree with the professor. Considering what they teach in gender studies courses, who gives a crap whether they learn anything or not?
It’s only the real courses where it makes any difference whether the students learn something. Math, science, engineering, history, literature, foreign languages, etc need to have exams. In the grievance studies classes, it’s actually more educational if the students forget all the nonsense they are told.

Not in galactic-level fraud courses like yours — of course they don’t.
Honestly, this is nothing more than a recognition that in a class where anything a student argues is right, and anything their opponents argue is wrong, any answer to a crucial question is entirely as correct as any other answer.

It is gender studies so there are no wrong answers.
However you feel at the moment is the right answer for that moment but other moments might result in different feelings.

Science is so easy.
Its disturbing that a professor seems to have such limited intellect. What was he seeking to achieve by this? If I were a future employer looking at this qualification I’d take it that it’s a waste of time and not proof they actually know anything. At least if it were graded properly I’d have something to go on, now not so much. Such a stupid act.

Been reading these types of comments for years and often espoused the same. For years the reality was that this type of degree only let one be a professor or a service industry worker (waiter, bartender, etc) but now all the “studies” grads are being hired into DE&I roles at every college, university, major corporation and even high schools and primary school bringing their perverse and generally socialist view of the world and impacting society in a major way. In many cases their view of the world cannot be challenged else the challenger is label “_____ist” and dismissed.
They cannot be laughed off anymore as they are real threat to our economy, government and system of education.
Consider that I would never hire anyone with any sort of “Studies” in their CV, so this is a non event. Only the stupid and those mom and dad don’t want at home take crap like that.
Nor would I ever hire a graduate of a college in which they were given a grade without having done anything to earn it.
