For several months last year, the mainstream media and Democrats were in perpetual meltdown mode over Republicans’ use of the terms “China virus” or “Chinese virus” to describe the Wuhan coronavirus.
Viruses are often named based on their origin. However, Democrats, including then-Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and “journalists” in the White House press corps, routinely badgered President Trump and other Republicans as “racists” for using the term.
We all know the virus originated in Wuhan, China. The Democrats and the media themselves used the term two months before the United States outbreak.
Trump and other Republicans continued to use the term despite the criticism. Although in Trump’s case, he used it less frequently in the months after the backlash.
But now that Joe Biden is president, the use of the term “China virus” by any federal government official or in any official government document has effectively been banned via executive action (bolded emphasis added):
The Federal Government must recognize that it has played a role in furthering these xenophobic sentiments through the actions of political leaders, including references to the COVID-19 pandemic by the geographic location of its origin. Such statements have stoked unfounded fears and perpetuated stigma about Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and have contributed to increasing rates of bullying, harassment, and hate crimes against AAPI persons. These actions defied the best practices and guidelines of public health officials and have caused significant harm to AAPI families and communities that must be addressed.[…]Executive departments and agencies (agencies) shall take all appropriate steps to ensure that official actions, documents, and statements, including those that pertain to the COVID-19 pandemic, do not exhibit or contribute to racism, xenophobia, and intolerance against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Agencies may consult with public health experts, AAPI community leaders, or AAPI community-serving organizations, or may refer to any best practices issued pursuant to subsection (a) of this section, to ensure an understanding of the needs and challenges faced by AAPI communities.
Biden’s declaration comes at a time when the mainstream media have suddenly found themselves miraculously comfortable again with identifying a virus by its origins:
It also comes around the same time the World Health Organization continues to play games about the origin of the Wuhan coronavirus:
Dr. Mike Ryan, executive director of WHO’s Health Emergencies program, said [at a] Jan. 22 virtual press conference in response to a question from an NBC reporter Keir Simmons about the origins of the virus that “it is too early to make any conclusion,” but the WHO is “making some progress.””I’m always very afraid in any process where the conclusions start looking for the evidence to support them, and we’re dealing with a lot of that in the last few days around here,” Ryan said. “The difficulty, I think — and I think we have to say this quite plainly — all hypotheses are on the table, and it is definitely too early to come to a conclusion of exactly where this virus started either within or without China.”

Also, it just so happens that the WHO’s statement refusing to confirm the virus’ origins comes as China continues peddling conspiracy theories about the vaccine and where the virus started, as Legal Insurrection’s Vijeta Uniyal reported earlier this week.
Is all of this merely coincidental? It’s hard to say for sure at this point, one way or the other. Still, all of these things happening within days of each other will only fuel speculation that there is a coordinated effort underway to help grease Biden’s path to “restoring relations” with the communist country after Trump’s years of playing hardball with them.
