Now Biden Tells Us: ‘Nothing We Can Do to Change Trajectory of Pandemic in Coming Months’

Joe Biden campaigned on the response to COVID-19. Every time he spoke of it, he offered criticism of the way Trump was handling it and insisted that he could do better for the American people.

He is singing a very different tune now.

During prepared remarks on Friday, Biden said there’s “nothing we can do” to change the pandemic’s trajectory. What changed?

Thomas Barrabi reports at FOX News:

Biden says ‘nothing we can do’ to change pandemic ‘trajectory’ in coming monthsPresident Biden provided a grim outlook about the country’s ability to combat the coronavirus pandemic Friday while calling on Congress to move forward with additional stimulus relief measures.Biden addressed his administration’s response efforts during a press briefing on two executive orders meant to provide food assistance to low-income families and protect workers’ rights during the pandemic. Days after the US surpassed 400,000 deaths related to COVID-19, the president warned the country had little ability in the near term to prevent spiking case totals.”If we fail to act, there will be a wave of evictions and foreclosures in the coming months as this pandemic rages on because there’s nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the next several months,” Biden said.

The New Zealand Herald makes a point you won’t hear in the American press:

President Joe Biden’s Covid-19 admission at odds with pre-election pledgeJoe Biden has made a stunning comment about the coronavirus pandemic, with many saying the admission stands in stark contrast to his pre-election pledge.Speaking at the White House on Friday (local time) as he urged Congress to pass more Covid-19 relief, the US President said there was “nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the next several months”.Many were quick to note that the comment seemed rather at odds with Biden’s pre-election rhetoric about a virus that’s killed more than 400,000 Americans and infected close to 25 million.
