Teachers in San Diego Forced to Attend ‘White Privilege’ Training

“you are upholding racist ideas, structures, and policies”

This is straight out of Mao’s Cultural Revolution. Public shaming and dunce caps are not far behind.

Christopher Rufo reports:

Mandatory “White Privilege” Training for San Diego Teachers

San Diego Unified School District is forcing teachers to attend “white privilege” training, in which teachers are told “you are racist” and “you are upholding racist ideas, structures, and policies.”

The training begins with a “land acknowledgement,” in which the teachers are asked to accept that they are colonizers living on stolen Native American land. Then they are told they will experience “guilt, anger, apathy, [and] closed-mindedness” because of their “white fragility.”

After watching clips of Robin DiAngelo and Ibram Kendi, the trainers tell the teachers: “you are racist,” “you are upholding racist ideas, structures, and policies,” and that they must commit to becoming “antiracist” in the classroom. They must submit to the new racial orthodoxy.

The teachers are told that they are part of an oppressive white power structure. The trainers claim that “white people in America hold most of the [power]” and that white teachers have an “ability to thrive” that is “being preserved at every level of power.”

Finally, teachers are told they must become “antiracist” activists. They must “confront and examine [their] white privilege,” “acknowledge when [they] feel white fragility,” and “teach others to see their privilege.” They must turn their schools into activist organizations.

And all on the tax payer’s dime.

Heaven knows I’m not a lawyer, but I cannot imagine any universe in which your superiors telling you that “you are a racist” does not constitute a hostile work environment.

Being specifically identified as a racist without any direct evidence being presented is, IMHO, slander. I would recommend that anyone attending this course (or a similar one) seek legal assistance and file a slander charge against the intructor.

Hypotheticals and generalities are not sufficient evidence to support charges like racism or bias. Detailed acts/statements of the accused must be presented to demonstrate specific intent; simply saying “someone who is white is a racist” is actually unprotected hate speech.

How many of the attendees actually support the sentiments being expressed?

How many who object are finding their union will do nothing?

“Die Gedanken sind frei”? I always figured that an employer might have the right to compel my attendance at such things, but no right to compel my active participation.

Which seems a line that is increasingly crossed, as the “trainers” often seem to have special training in attempting to intimidate those who will not respond (or won’t respond as required). So, you’d have to have a strong stomach to resist.

Nonetheless, although they may shout in your face and make threatening gestures, I’ve never yet seen a facilitator willing to cross the line into actual violence.

It would be refreshing to see at least one independent thinker challenge whether employers can sanction or otherwise punish those who not wish to participate in their own humiliation, and who then refuse to do so.

Just bring your body. “Die Gedanken sind frei.”

I highly recommend retired military audit courses to do just what you suggest!
Challenge! One brave soul standing against such absurdity can fuel courage in others.
