Northwestern Grad Student Union Says ‘BLT Sandwich’ Painted on Rock is Threat to Native Americans

“These messages pose a threat to Native graduate workers, students, faculty, and staff at Northwestern and are thus intolerable to us”

The response to this is so over the top, it’s absurd.

The College Fix reports:

Grad student union says ‘BLT Sandwich’ painted on campus rock is a threat to Native Americans

This is a bit hard to follow, but in a nutshell:

Northwestern University has a big campus rock that students can paint and decorate freely with no permission.

It had been “painted orange with a yellow smiley face since late October” (in the style of a jack-o-lantern) when someone added a pilgrim hat a few days before Thanksgiving, according to The Daily Northwestern.

Triggered by this seasonal American symbol, Native American students dumped red paint over the hat (to kill the pilgrim?) and added political messages: “BLM” (Black Lives Matter), “Land Back,” “Natives Only” and “Native Land.”

Less than 24 hours later, someone else had altered their renderings to read “BLT Sandwich” (above), “Olives Only” and “Nativity.”

This jokey act of one-upmanship was actually violence directed toward Native Americans on campus, the Northwestern Graduate Workers union wrote in an over-the-top statement that must be read to be believed.

“These messages pose a threat to Native graduate workers, students, faculty, and staff at Northwestern and are thus intolerable to us as an antiracist and feminist labor union that supports Indigenous sovereignty and resurgence, including the central demand of ‘land back,” the statement reads (bold in original).

Doctoral student Nikki McDaid-Morgan of the Shoshone-Bannock Nation told the Daily that she and other activists painted over the rock because the pilgrim hat “wasn’t acceptable” and illustrated Northwestern’s failure to educate students about Native Americans and what they call “Thankstaking.”

Another doctoral student, Syd González, called the jokey repainting the “epitome of Indigenous erasure” and “an attempt to whitewash the true history rather than deal with the discomfort” of Thanksgiving’s celebration of “genocide” and “continued theft and mistreatment of our lands and waters.”

Butthurt salve us on the house, everybody!

Preparation R (eparations) is their only cure for perennial butthurt.

How soon will mocking the perpetually aggrieved be deemed a hate crime (as opposed to the rather pleasant avocation that it currently is)?

Our everyday speech is so much “violence” to these snowflakes that I wonder how their heads will self-destruct when they encounter actual violence.

This story puts me in a conundrum. Do I not hire all graduates of Northwestern or just PhD’s and PhD candidates? Unless someone can offer a compelling argument, I’m afraid I’ll have to go with all Northwestern students and graduates.

Who do you think painted the pilgrim hat, as well as the “BLT” and the other slogans that triggered these nutcases? Those were presumably NWU students too, and probably reflect the majority more than the nuts do.

Clearly, this kind of speech poses a threat to you as an employer and to all the people whom you employ. So I would err on the side of personal safety (remember, you have a right to feel safe, which you are entitled to above anyone else’s so-called rights) and just cancel all of their applications.

The two sniveling minorties who were triggered are likely taking Styrofoam majors. Two methods to screen out the troublemakers:

    1) See what their courses of study are. Require transcripts, not just proof of degree,
    2) Discriminate. If you don’t have government contracts, you may slip under the radar.

It seems to me that, by their standards, dumping red paint on the hat was an act of violence, as was painting anti-white slogan like “Natives Only”, and treasonous slogans that deny American sovereignty and call for the obliteration of the USA.

If this person thinks a pilgrim hat is “not acceptable” she is erasing our history and that’s a form of genocide. She should cancel herself.

Something tells me those students host really shite parties.

Is the Piggly Wiggly supermarket chain a threat to Muslims and to Jews who observe kosher law?

That Northwestern Graduate Workers Union statement reads like a CCP declaration.

No matter what the cause, the same robotic, scripted word salad spews out of the mouths of these nitwits. I can’t wait to subsidize these quasi-Scientologist dullards on their path to careers in Diversity and Inclusion departments by forgiving their student loans.
