Emails: Top Ukrainian Exec Asked Hunter How to ‘Use Your Influence’ on Burisma’s Behalf

Emails from Hunter Biden’s laptop show that Vadym Pozharskyi, the supposed #2 executive at Burisma, asked Hunter for “advice on how you could use your influence” on behalf of Burisma only a month after Hunter joined the board.

A year later, Hunter invited Pozharskyi to DC to meet his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden.

The Computer

First, some background on the computer.

Someone dropped off the MacBook Pro in April 2019 at a repair shop. The owner couldn’t say Hunter did this, but the laptop had a Beau Biden Foundation sticker on it.

The FBI seized the computer in December 2019, but the owner made a copy of the hard drive. He sent it to Robert Costello, Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s lawyer.

Guiliani gave The New York Post the hard drive copy this past Sunday.

The hard drive had many pictures. It also included “a raunchy, 12-minute video that appears to show Hunter, who’s admitted struggling with addiction problems, smoking crack while engaged in a sex act with an unidentified woman, as well as numerous other sexually explicit images.”

Political Leverage

Remember: President Barack Obama appointed Vice President Joe Biden to lead the delegation to help Ukraine transition to a new government after the country overthrew its pro-Russian president in February 2014.

Hunter Biden joined Burisma’s board in April 2014. Devon Archer, an associate of Hunter and former Secretary of State John Kerry, joined the board right before Hunter.

In May 2014, a month later, Pozharskyi sent an email to Hunter and Devon labeled “urgent issue.”

Pozharskyi references N.Z., who could be Burisma founder Mykola Zlochevsky. Mykola is the Ukrainian version of Nicholas:

Pozharskyi said that “the representatives of new authorities in power tend to quite aggressively approach N. Z. unofficially with the aim to obtain cash from him.”N.Z. isn’t identified in the e-mail but appears to be a reference to Burisma founder Mykola Zlochevsky, whose first name is a Ukrainian version of “Nicholas.”When the alleged shakedown failed, “they proceeded with concrete actions” in the form of “one or more pretrial proceedings,” Pozharskyi wrote.

This is where it gets juicy:

We urgently need your advice on how you could use your influence to convey a message / signal, etc .to stop what we consider to be politically motivated actions.

Email from Vadim Pozharskyi… by New York Post

Hunter received an email from Archer four months later. The subject was “tax impact on Burisma production.”

Pozharskyi informed them that the Ukrainian Cabinet put forth “new tax legislation to the country’s parliament.” He claimed the “law would kill the entire private gas production sector in the bud.”

April 2015

Fast-forward a year.

Pozharskyi thanked Hunter in an email for inviting him to DC: “Dear Hunter, thank you for inviting me to DC and giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent [sic] some time together. It’s realty [sic] an honor and pleasure.”

Eight months later:

Less than eight months after Pozharskyi thanked Hunter Biden for the introduction to his dad, the then-vice president admittedly pressured Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk into getting rid of Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin by threatening to withhold a $1 billion US loan guarantee during a December 2015 trip to Kiev.“I looked at them and said: I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money,” Biden infamously bragged to the Council on Foreign Relations in 2018.“Well, son of a bitch. He got fired.”

Why This Matters

Joe Biden has said many times that he never talked to Hunter “about his foreign business interests.” He said in September 2019:

“I have never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings,” Biden said, before pivoting to President Trump. “I know Trump deserves to be investigated. He is violating every basic norm of a president. You should be asking him why is he on the phone with a foreign leader, trying to intimidate a foreign leader. You should be looking at Trump.”

Hunter said he discussed his work “just once.”
