WJAR News reports:

University of Rhode Island votes to eliminate spring break 2021The University of Rhode Island said the Faculty Senate voted last week to eliminate spring break 2021.The university said on Friday spring break, which was initially set for March 22, has been replaced with classes. The Faculty Senate said they wanted to create the “safest possible campus environments for students, staff and faculty,” “minimizing potential for disruptions,” “preventing an abrupt shift to fully remote instruction for all courses similar to the one that occurred in spring 2020,” among other things. The decision was made because of the “uncertainty created by COVID-19 outbreaks across the United States and, in particular, on college campuses, and the need to prepare for the likely persistence of existing outbreaks and potential for a new wave of infections.”
