Lockdown Queen Gretchen Whitmer reportedly interviewed by Biden for VP slot
Seriously under consideration, or a coordinated media leak headfake? It’s hard to imagine Nurse Rached one heartbeat away from the presidency.
In a nation filled with petty government tyrants and bullies empowered by coronavirus panic, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer stands out as possibly the most petty and most tyranical of the bunch.
Whitmer has shown such a unique combination of fanatical self-righteousness and psychopathic vindictiveness that most people wrote off her vice-presidential prospects.
But wait, there are multiple news reports that Whitmer is on the final shortlist, and flew to Delaware to be interviewed by Biden. AP reports:
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer traveled to Delaware last weekend to meet with Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee’s first known in-person session with a potential running mate as he nears a decision.
Whitmer visited Biden Sunday, according to two high-ranking Michigan Democrats who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly. The first-term governor of the battleground state has long been on his short list of possible running mates.
Flight records show a chartered plane left Lansing’s Capital Region International Airport for Delaware Coastal Airport at 5:33 p.m. and returned at 11:16 p.m.
The governor’s office declined to confirm or deny the trip.
“We don’t discuss her personal schedule,” spokeswoman Tiffany Brown said.
Biden’s campaign declined to comment.
But wait, she’s not black. No problem, per AP:
Biden is facing calls to select a Black woman to acknowledge their crucial role in Democratic politics and in response to the nation’s reckoning with systemic racism.
Whitmer has sought to address racism and racial inequity. In April, she created a task force to address the pandemic’s racial disparities and later proposed police reforms in the wake of George Floyd’s death. On Wednesday — days after visiting Biden — she declared racism a public health crisis, created an advisory council of Black leaders and required implicit bias training for all state employees.
If Whitmer is chosen to join the ticket and Biden wins, Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist II would become the country’s only Black governor.
Biden and Whitmer formed a bond after he campaigned for her in the 2018 gubernatorial election. She is a co-chair on his campaign.
Numerous other news outlets have their own “sources” for the interview, so clearly there is a coordinated leak from the Biden campaign.
Assuming the interview happened, the leak of that information likely is a headfake, so that when Biden unveils his pick of someone else it will be a ‘surprise’ which shows how media savvy his campaign is.
If not a headfake, why in the world would Whitmer be chosen? Two reasons I see: Her lockdown obsessiveness would fit into the Biden campaign theme of Trump being lackadaisical in the federal response, and the Biden campaign sees her as helping them in Michigan.
There are not many on Biden’s shortlist who would be as frightening as president — which the VP will be soon because Biden is not okay — than Whitmer. Even malicious prosecutor Kamela Harris, deep state Susan Rice, and Castro-worshipping Karen Bass, are less openly abusive in their demeanor. Elizabeth Warren arguably is worse than Whitmer, but no one is talking much about her anymore (an August surprise?).
Maybe that’s Biden’s play when he picks one of those three: Look, it could of been worse, we could have nominated Nurse Rached.
So is it real or just a headfake?
Here’s my assessment the other day of the prospects of Whitmer getting the nod:

Head fake. He painted himself into a corner with the “Woman of Color” comment. He knows he can’t win, that is why he will pick Stacey Abrams. He needs a scapegoat.
I wonder if Biden is so senile that he could stomach dealing with her, especially being face to face with her, having to listen to her. I could see him killing himself just to get relief.

The media is not supposed to care about all of this, Biden is supposed to be clobbering Trump in the polls and have all the swing states clinched. Is your narrative collapsing, media?

Meh. The hagiographic coverage of the Antifa/BLM brownshirts will vanish in a microsecond if needed to clear the path for Harris. The Joseph Goebbels media has had decades of practice with implementing these sorts of lightning-fast flip-flops.
Recall how in the blink of an eye the media Narrative went from “Trump won’t accept the results of the 2016 election” to “Resist Trump by any means necessary”.
Some thoughts:
1) She spent more time (possibly near double the time) traveling to and from Biden’s house than she spent at Biden’s house being ‘interviewed’. Less than 6 hours from wheels up in Lansing to wheels back down in Lansing seems awfully short to me.
2) Perhaps this is the Biden campaign’s version of the NFL’s Rooney Rule.

Oh, and one more. It was only mentioned that she went. If her husband had gone with her I’d take the seriousness of her chances at VP a bit more seriously.
I don’t get it. Why would her husband have any say in the matter? If she tells him to move to Washington DC, he moves to Washington DC.

Makes more sense than Rice but not any more a threat for their success. Maybe a help for the difference adding a petty dictator to show where the Democrats are heading.

Whitmer is one of the most ineffective governors in the history of governorship. She ran on one issue, “Fix the Damn Roads!” Her only recommendation was a 75 cent gas tax making Michigan’s gas tax one of the highest in the nation. The funds wouldn’t go to roads either. They would be deposited in the general fund and earmarked. The tax was also seen as regressive, causing hardship on the poorest Michiganders. Needless to say it crashed and burned.
As a state senate leader she represented a minority party that faced supermajorities in both the Michigan House and Senate. She was a do nothing politician who termed out.
She ran as a “centrist” but has been proven to be a serious progressive Leftist once in office. Her opponent for governor was a terrible candidate who was groomed by the State GOP. The only reason he was there was because it was his turn. The voters, and me, recognized his swampiness.
Bottom line, Whitmer brings nothing to the ticket as V.P. She is singularly focused on destroying Michigan, so she can’t even promise that. She brings no votes or money around the country and because she is a nobody and not black, there may be resentment from the coastal Leftist elites.
Ha – she’d probably put a pillow over Biden’s head the first chance she got.
How does she poll in Michigan, right now? It is a key state.
We don’t know how Whitmer polls in Michigan because the polls are entirely unreliable, especially before Labor Day in a year where she is not running for re-election.

When “Biden said” that he would pick a woman “of color” he(they) said so because they had already picked. I think my bet has always been on Susan Rice, with Jarrett as a second choice. Both of them only because for some strange reason Michelle Obama won’t do it.
Some internal storm has to be happening right now for them to keep delaying the announcement, and it is possibly, in my opinion, because they never thought Biden’s decline would be so evident.

I do not see Whitmer being worse than Bass. The latter is not merely a Castrophile. She worked as an agent of the Castro regime/USSR in a program run specifically in order to plant hostile agents within the US government.
Whitmer is a venomous snake wearing warning coloration; Bass is one wearing camouflage in tall grass.
Whitmer also screwed up on unemployment benefits after the covid-inspired lockdown. She couldn’t even get THAT right. She managed to out-Cuomo Cuomo by making sure that minors with the WuFlu (there are not many) were placed in nursing homes. Seriously.

This all reminds me of the overused comic gag of striking up the band to introduce the star of the event … who unknown to the audience is either having a meltdown in the dressing room, hasn’t yet arrived, or is drunk and only semi-conscious … while the stage manager is frantically signaling the band leader to string it out or “NO, NOT YET!” … how many times can the Dems build the fanfare to a thundering crescendo only to let the air out of the party like deflating bag-pipes?!?
The mental image of trying to “whip up the crowd” only to introduce Biden makes me laugh. And Whitmer? Will they license her with the theme from Jaws?

I gotta say, I had planned not to vote because Trump has failed utterly in building the wall and expelling illegals. He’s not even make material progress stopping legal immigration that unemploys American workers (though now he’s bragging about his move with the TVA). But if Nurse Rached is part of the team I will vote early and often.

I’ve been betting Whitmer for a while. The Democrats are campaigning on COVID to the exclusion of all else, because that is their best way to win. Picking Susan Rice would bring foreign policy to the forefront, and that wouldn’t necessarily be good for their ticket’s prospects. It has to be Whitmer.
