Gaza-Based Terror Groups Preparing Joint Campaign Against Israel, Report Says

The war of terror against Israel could be entering a new phase as Gaza-based terrorist groups prepare for a joint campaign against the Jewish state, news reports from the region suggest. “The military wings of terror organizations in the Gaza Strip are preparing for a long-term joint campaign against Israel,” the Times of Israel reported citing pro-Hezbollah Lebenase newspaper Al-Akhbar

The revelation comes as terrorist groups Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad are stepping up their attacks against Israeli civilians. Their weapon of choice has been the explosives-laden balloons and kites that cause massive fires on the Israeli side. Hamas operatives have called this ecological terrorism “beginning a new battle” against Israel.

On Saturday, The Israeli tanks struck Hamas outposts responsible for staging these cross-border arson attacks. The counter-terrorism offensive came after the Gaza-based terrorist groups launched several incendiary devices across the border on Sunday, causing 23 fires in southern Israel.

The Times of Israel reported the renewed terrorist threat to Israel:

The military wings of terror organizations in the Gaza Strip are preparing for a long-term joint campaign against Israel, a Lebanese newspaper reported on Saturday.

The pro-Hezbollah Al-Akhbar newspaper reported that sources in the “Joint Operations Room” of the terror organizations said that the rocket barrage toward Israel in the early hours of Friday morning was an example that no action by Israel would go unanswered.

The newspaper also reported that the groups have now started to coordinate efforts to increase the amount and frequency of incendiary balloons launched toward Israel.

Palestinians in the Strip have in recent weeks sent waves of arson balloons across the border, sparking scores of wildfires in southern Israel.

The Israeli military conducted an initial bombing raid against Hamas facilities in Gaza Thursday night in response to the balloon-borne incendiary and explosive devices launched across the border into Israel throughout Thursday.

The intensification of terror comes as Israel seeks peace with its Arab neighbors. Earlier this month, U.S. President Donald Trump brokered a landmark peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. The agreement paves the way for diplomatic and commercial ties between the two Middle Eastern nations. Israel could strike deals on a similar basis with other Arab nations, President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hope.

Iran, Turkey, and Palestinian leadership have been enraged by the Trump-brokered peace deal, with Tehran threatening to unleash terror against the UAE. This was the second major blow to Iran after President Trump pulled the plug on the Obama-era nuclear deal, disrupting the country’s lucrative oil trade and cutting its access to global financial markets.

Israel’s move towards peace in the region has been accompanied by attacks from the Iran-sponsored Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah. In recent weeks, The pro-Iranian terror militia repeatedly targeted Israeli military patrols and sent killer commandos across Israel’s northern border, only to be repelled by the Israel Defense Forces. With this new wave of terror, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, both Islamist terror groups funded by Iran, are now attacking Israel from the south.

It is hardly coincidental that the growing terror campaign by Iran-backed outfits coincides with Israel’s peace overtures with its Arab neighbors and Tehran’s increasing isolation in the region. Iran’s well-earned pariah status is only matched by Palestinian leadership’s growing political irrelevance. A campaign of war and jihad terror against Israeli civilians is their only hope of reviving their flagging support in the Arab and Muslim world.
