Why is the school even allowing this to happen?

Homeless encampment on lawn of Seattle Central College stirs concernA growing homeless encampment on the front lawn of Seattle Central College in Capitol Hill is raising new concerns about crime, safety and unsanitary conditions in the area among students, residents and businesses.Dr. Sheila Lange, the college president, sent a campus-wide email this week, saying the situation is “an escalating safety situation.”She has threatened to seek assistance from Seattle police and the mayor’s office if the homeless who have taken up residence in the area don’t leave on their own.Aaron Hall, who lives in the encampment, says its residents are part of the Black Lives Matter protest and moved in more than two weeks ago after they were evicted from Cal Anderson park. The eviction from Cal Anderson occurred about the same time police seized control of the area known as the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest or CHOP.“You just want to do what the police did to us,” Hall said. “You just want to push us out. This whole protest is not going to be over for a long time because Black Lives Matter.”Protesters that march through Broadway Avenue and and Pine Street say the homeless are taking advantage of the movement.“None of us are staying in the tents,” said one man named Freeman. “That has nothing to do with this protest.”Lange says some of those in the encampment are also intimidating employees of the school by openly carrying guns, which are banned on campus.
