Dr. Fauci Chosen to Throw First Pitch on Opening Day at Yankees/Nationals Game
Baseball finally starts on Thursday!
White House coronavirus member Dr. Anthony Fauci will throw out the first pitch at the New York Yankees/Washington Nationals game on Thursday.
The MLB season has a late start, much to my disappointment, due to the coronavirus.
The Nationals surprised everyone with their World Series win in 2019. They were awful and dead last in May before a resurgence that led to their victory over the Houston Astros (sorry, Kemberlee!).
(In my opinion, the victory was super sweet because star Bryce Harper left the team for division rival Philadelphia Phillies. I don’t like Harper so HA!)

Fauci has become a star during the coronavirus pandemic, but Fauci is a huge baseball fan. He recently wore a Nationals mask, which he donated to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
I see people complaining in the replies. I see their point, especially about the fact that people are unemployed and kids cannot go to school.
But in all honesty, baseball allows us to return to some kind of normalcy. I’m sure the social distancing and hygiene rules will happen so I’m not worried.
Am I biased because baseball is literally my life? Probably.
I like the one suggestion of having the doctors and nurses throw out the pitch. I’m sure people are mad because no one chose President Donald Trump.
Meh. Just play ball.

Baseball has been part of my life my entire life. I never ever dreamed there would come a day when I didn’t care about MLB. Right now, I do not care. Fans can’t go to games, the truncated season is a joke, players are opting out, the league is bending over backwards to BLM, I’m not going to watch this crap on TV only to be reminded every single day about all the BS I don’t want in my life.
“I don’t care if I never get back” means something else to me at this point.

He sure is a popular old hack, but I cringe every time someone tells me he’s a “scientist”. The less you understand science the more likely you are to trust this guy. Us “scientists”, not so much.

I miss pro sports.
I don’t miss whiny pro athletes.

Heh, I expect him to throw the first pitch to the outfield… left outfield. Probably will just dribble between 2nd and 3rd base and the players will be afraid to pick it up. Stupidity can be contagious.

Sadly, one of the best pitches was W’s after 9/11 …. but since then my regard for anything else he did has dimmed. As for cloth masks, they are as effective at stopping the virus as either the umpire’s or catcher’s mask.
I do not care who throws the first pitch, I am just so glad that baseball is starting up again.
If they openly cater to BLM, I might get disgusted and refuse to watch. I have not watched even one minute of basketball or football or hockey since they started their political bs. (Of course, I had not watched even one minute in the decade before that either.)

I think the ones who kneel for the anthem should be required to run to 1st on their knees as well.
Damn. As long as it was only sports I don’t care about (almost all of them!), I was comfortable. Now I’ll have to boycott Major League Baseball??? That will hurt.
After 1994 strike, I could care less about Baseball. I hope pro sports just die and the over paid actors get fired. Hockey is about the only thing I am going to miss. Boy do I miss the old days when Pete Rose, Al Kaline, Will Mays, Steve Garvey or Lance Parish were playing.
We use to get up an hour early to head to school so we could get a quick game in before elementary school.
They are destroying any fun so we live in a 1984 gray.

MLB and NFL and all other professional leagues will be broke by next season. Television ratings are going to be in the toilet. Ad and stadium revenue are going to fall woefully short of payroll.
Tennis, golf, other non-league individual sports don’t have payrolls. That have prize money- which they can adjust up or down dependent on the projected revenue stream. And players can choose to participate or stay home. Guess it will depend on how wise their investment and spending habits are.
Fauci is a quack. We the People should sue him for malpractice.
