UC Davis Student Newspaper Declares Criticism of the Chinese Communist Party is Racist

“uphold the Principles of Community in this time, especially in regard to xenophobia and discrimination attached to the coronavirus”

It is maddening that even in a crisis like the one we’re living through right now, social justice warriors refuse to let go of their insane worldview.

Campus Reform reports:

Student newspaper characterizes criticism of Chinese Communist Party as ‘racist’

According to the University of California Davis student newspaper, criticism of the Chinese Communist Party is “racist” and “propaganda.”

On March 18, the California Aggie, the student newspaper of UC Davis, reported an on-campus incident in which a shipping container was spray-painted with the words, “The Chinese Communist Party = a danger to society” and a drawing of a man in a surgical mask.

The paper asserted in this “breaking news” article that the graffiti characterizing the Chinese Communist Party as dangerous was “part of a rise in racist and xenophobic propaganda all over the world, taking place in the wake of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic thought to have originated in Wuhan, China.”

The article also pointed to a statement issued by the UC Davis Aggie Student Union asking students to “uphold the Principles of Community in this time, especially in regard to xenophobia and discrimination attached to the coronavirus.”

“With the rise of xenophobia, racism, and attacks against Asians across the globe as a result of the coronavirus epidemic, ASUCD hopes to reaffirm our stance against discrimination,” wrote the student government association before calling out President Donald Trump’s choice of language surrounding the virus.

“With leaders in our political sphere today explicitly linking the coronavirus to China and Chinese individuals, we want to recognize that the virus is not targeting a specific racial population, nor should it be treated as such,” wrote the students. Trump has correctly maintained that the virus originated in China. The president’s branding of COVID-19 is a part of a long history of naming diseases where they originate.

Probably written by a grievance studies major.

No. It uses complete sentences. The grievance studies faculty hired someone to write it for them.

I’m surprised they haven’t come up with a scientific-sounding word they can use to stigmatize dislike of grievance studies majors.

May I suggest paraponophobia (From Gk. parapono, grievance, complaint, whine)?

that is some straight up propaganda right there. the Chicoms seem to be winning the propaganda war. just look at the reporter ABC let in to the Chinese virus press yesterday. the fact we’re not aggressively cutting this off is all you need to know about the people in charge of this country – Trump included.

If the Chinese bombed Pearl Harbor, these idiots would try to figure out some way to blame it on Trump.

It’s so cute how they think their calling something “racist” means anything anymore.

I think we all know what they’re really objecting to.

Chinese COMMUNIST Party.

They’re right. “The Chinese Communist Party = a danger to society” is racist. After all, the word “Chinese” in that sentence is redundant. It falsely implies that other communist parties are not so dangerous.

It’s like condemning “black rapists”, as if they were worse than any other rapists.

But they would like to create the impression that no Chinese are Communists, just like they would like us to believe that no blacks commit crimes.

No, they would not like to create the impression that no Chinese are communist, they would like to create the impression that communists are not dangerous. They like communism.

        This is garbage.

The CHINESE Communist Party bears a singular responsibility for the spread of the corona virus that is not shared by the French, Italian or any other Communist party. To claim that calling out the CHINESE Communist Party for their unique culpability in this crisis is silly.

it’s not redundant, it’s specific and identifies precisely the subject of the statement(which also happens to be a fact)

But it’s not just the Chinese communists who are a danger to society. All communist parties are dangerous. Singling out the Chinese one means the others are not as bad. Which is why I wrote that it’s like singling out black criminals and speaking as if they are more dangerous than other people who commit the exact same crimes.

We could split hairs all day (it’s Legal Insurrection after all!) but suffice to say

      1) all communists are bad and a danger to society

      2) Chinese communists are the current leaders of the communist world

      3) Chinese communists have been especially dangerous, malignant, and pissy lately

I see no problem in identifying Chinese communists as being a specific danger, and communists as the more root, general danger.

For some strange reason when this school call alumni to ask for donations I never manage to pickup the phone. It is not the same school I graduated from.
